I’m 79 and ride the mountains and back roads of East Tennessee about 10K last year. I stay in shape (lifting weights and walking) and will continue riding until my body and mind tell me to stop. No touring, day rides up to 300 miles, also practice riding skills regularly. I’ve broken some bones over the years but after healing and repairs there was no way I stop riding. People that don’t ride will never understand the pure joy of “being in the wind”.

Yep. That is so awesome to hear. It is a state of mind, just like riding. When you think you r old, you are. Exercise is the key, along w stretching. I am 71, and I love it more now than ever! It’s like getting away w something, too much fun. I’ve been listening to some of Craig’s advice, trying to get ride of some bad juju. Be positive and happy. This is what I want to do, adv ride and explore. And i am pretty good at it. I am very thankful. The state of mind is a big thing. You can’t be scared, be prepared. We got the best two wheel exploration stuff ever right now. Just do it. I don’t think about the risk, just the reward. Be safe

... after 50 yrs of riding , at 70 I don't trust my reflexes anymore , no regrets , no accidents or injuries , it was a great ride ... safe travels ...

Well done my friend! Having said I expect to go to 90 or so, I hope I'm as willing to quit when my reflexes slow too much, whether that's retirement, 70 , or more.

At 75 I am still riding both on and off road-I have reduced the size of my bikes both in engine and physical size-I have a 450 Ducati and a 600 Gilera (I have a passion for Italian bikes). I did think I was going to have to stop riding a couple of years ago after a pushbike accident when I broke my left hip-I wasn’t sure I would still be able to start the Ducati as it has a left side kickstart and no centre stand. Anyway after a bit of recovery and building the strength back up I’m glad to say I can still start it and ride it-so I do-and long may it continue.

I'm 70, but as an very aggressive rider on a performance bagger Harley, I know I don't heal so well anymore, and our old mantra of "If the,boards ain't sparkin', you're just parkin! " is eased off a bit, to a slightly easier ride; still far beyond the flowersniffers who just get in the way of real riders doing the real rides. Do the road, not your fear!

Hi From the uk I'm no spring chicken but intend to ride till I can no longer manhandle my bike then I'll get so.thing smaller and lighter as for reflexes isn't that learning to ride within your caperbilities for me that means nor riding my cafe racer but getting on a vintage or veteran machine Stay safe your decision is yours to make

It's hard to say. My dad just turned 98 last summer and he still takes out his Honda Goldwing that he bought in 1994. Sure he doesn't do the same long trips as he did 30 years ago. But, from May to October he still take the bike out for 2 or 3 dad trips. My dad started riding when he was 12. Last year when I got my CB1000R Black Edition. My dad took it out for a ride and love it. But he said for him his old Goldwing is more comfortable. Everybody is different. Some people are old at 60.

I have my first Maxi 2023 Yamaha Xmax 300 and I'm 70 and it's the best size light Maxi scooter that has all the boxes checked speed riding comfort gas mileage reliability....etc....NO BETTER MID MAXI SCOOTER ON THE PLANET !!!! WE did it right ....I can't all people can't see that the best is the Xmax 300 hands down !!!!

At 78 I judge myself everyday when manhandling my beast out of the shed and I monitor my ups and downs. Visions of a plastic electric scooter inspire me to stay strong and observant. Keep your body compatible with your ride. My primary transportation has been motorcycles for 64 years now. Many broken bones, never a broken heart.

I am a 79-year-old rider and still like to ride! My wife hasn't liked me riding since I got my license and bought the bike 10 years ago. I still feel safe and capable, but I did upgrade my helmet and last year added the Tech Air 5 from Alpinestars inflatable vest as a concession! I am now just waiting for spring!

Now 71, I still ride my Harley Roadking and BMW R1200GS,which I still take off the pavement, but with in reason. I do not ride for a thrill, but to relax and enjoy the outdoors. I ride my own ride and not someone else"s. You can ride as far as you want and stop for a break when you want. Maybe someday and might look into a Canam Syder RT, but I have pretty well given up on group rides, these days.

I’m seriously thinking of doing that now. I always ride 2 up as my wife loves going on rides as much as I do. Turning 65 in couple of months and last years after a day of riding the Road King I felt tired and beat up. So looking at getting a Spyder. Just having a hard time making the decision. :(

The spyders are cool! I think it's great that they extend the riding experience for people. Maybe a small low hp bike to get the occasional 2 wheel feel? The folks in Europe and elsewhere enjoy them. Us Americans have been sold the high hp, expensive, dream!

I normally ride around 5000.+ Every year. All this experience doesn't make me an expert nor a professional, just a Survivor. Ride safe Today and You'll be able to ride again Tomorrow.

I don't do group rides any more. I'm a lone wolf too other than one more old mellow fart like me riding together. I got a 2004 Road King and a 2002 Goldwing. Got some other road bikes and some off road stuff for the Grandkids. It's their turn now. I had my fun. Me and my wife bought the Road King in 2004 and she had a heart attack in 2012 so that slowed down the riding together and eventually stopped it. But the good news is my Grandson got married 5 years ago, has a wife, hous, 3 kids and a dog. They ride both of my Harley's now since I also bought a 2005 Sportster the year after the Road King and my Grandson that has it picked it out when he was 9. Keep it in the family!

63 laps around the sun. My first motorcycle was 50 years ago and I’ve never not had bikes. I can’t imagine life without one. I’ve got a buddy who’s in his late 70s who rides. I must agree with your ibuprofen comment. It’s not getting any easier for sure. However I believe the positive mental effects outweigh any physical negatives. Love motorcycles and the people who ride them. My children and grandchildren also ride. I had no idea 50 years ago how this would turn out. All I knew was the absolute thrill of twisting the grip.

Soon to be 70 next month, I got back into motorcycling in 1999. I took several low-speed sessions + track training courses, then bought a GSX-R 750 and spent five years doing track sessions. This greatly helped me to master my riding. Today, I still love riding my motorcycle, staying alert in all circumstances and anticipating every move on the road. I must add that I keep fit through physical training, which helps a lot with resistance to riding fatigue, whether it's a day's ride or a trip lasting several days. In my opinion, too many motorcyclists make no effort to improve their riding skills and have poor control of their bikes. Excellent subject Craig 👍🏼

Couldn't agree more regarding riders making no effort to improve their riding skills. Trackdays are life-changing and the skills you learn are directly applicable to riding on the street. Heck, they've even helped my bicycling skills. After a lifetime of riding dirt bikes, sport bikes and road racers, I'm learning a whole new set of skills after buying my first ADV bike at 71 years old. It brings back feelings I had on my 1972 Penton 125.

You might be surprised how enjoyable bicycle riding can be also! Either paved roads or paths, and the increasingly popular gravel. You get out into the scenery and nature while rolling along just like motorcycling. It keeps your balance and reflexes as good as can be. Mix it up a bit with motorcycling as we age. It makes you feel better in every way. It will make you feel better when you get on the motorcycle and appreciate it even more. I've cycled with folks in their 60s that would put most folks in their 20s to shame.

I am 59, last spring I rode the Katy trail 250 miles with 3 other retired gentlemen. One is 73 and he spanks my tail on a bicycle. He regularly got so far ahead of the group that he stopped and had a snack waiting for us to catch up. He only 2 years prior had given up category 5 white water kayaking, he decided he was too old for that.

Amen, brother. The bicycle is my fitness weapon too. I agree about it seeming to keep the reflexes sharp. Keeps the weight off, and you feel great. At 62, I plan to keep riding. A guy in our group is 78 and still going strong. He took up the bicycle at 70.

This is something reading about bicycle riding! I think I'm the only recreational bicycle Rider in New York City, on a beautiful Saturday evening I took a lap around Central Park and I was the only one. I live out on Long Island, I have to go bicycle riding by myself, because nobody else is able at all, and nobody can come close to keeping up with me.

I've been riding and building motorcycles since the 1960s. I stopped riding in 1991. My reasons for this are two-fold: Too many distracted drivers and just a loss of love for the sport. I've only had 2 mishaps whilst getting about on two wheels. I've also seen some horrific mishaps involving friends on their machines. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm 73 turned and still ride a bike , my reactions are still quick , I've always ridden on a defensive style giving myself room for adjustments , I've been around bikes since I was a young man , I was also qualified Motorcycle instructor, keep riding for as long as you can enjoy , it's your choice and your life , stay shiny side up folks 😀

When I was a young man I went to Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. Was an old guy there (student like me). Had to be early 70s…. Norm was one of the best riders I’d ever seen. Am 58 now. And ride as much as I can. I think part of Norms abilities was he only road a bike, so he was always on it, and his skills stayed polished.

I started migrating to scooters. Honda HELIX 250cc, a 110cc Honda, and a 250cc Vespa. Step thru design was a game-changer for me. And even transporting it has been easier than I thought. I wrestled with this issue for years as my balance/vestibular issues changed. Quite humbling.

I had in my 20ties Lambretta - 150cc next 175cc. When I was about 30 I switched to car and my lambretta was in basement. After some 10 years I wanted more place there so I sold just to get rid. 20 years later I started to miss my young years with scootering - A year ago I was 72 I got my another scooter - 125cc 4 stroke and I must say there is no better thing to bring new enjoyment to my life.

Only been riding 2.5 years, at 62. Love it so much, but unfortunately in early December I hit a deer on a dark road (never saw him till he was in front of me). Rushed to trauma center because of my age and the damage to my helmet. In the end only banged up in the knees and wrist. Am ok, but the wife is done with this and I just don’t feel like I can disrespect her wishes, nor do I want to. I’m really saddened and hope to get out one day again. For now, I’m trying to spend time on my bicycle as a way, albeit less fun, to get out there a bit. Thanks for the thoughtful piece.

I've owned three motor cycles in my younger years. Now I'm 73 and itching to get back into it. My wife says she is OK with it, since I'm a veteran long haul truck driver, and I'm a skilled driver. BUT, my last close call with a dear on the freeway, in the city, made me sell my last bike. I know my skills are up there, but when a deer misses you by inches, well, that's what scares the crap out of me. I'm going to contemplate this for a while. Drive safe everyone!

75 and still have the passion for the riding adventure. I have gone from spending time on my 840 pound cruiser riding two up to riding my 450 pound Adventure bike solo. Just not comfortable on the heavy bike with two up any more. Safety for both of us is my primary concern. Thankfully I have my wife's support. We had our time together on the cruiser and logged over 235,000 miles touring this great country.

Thank you Craig. I always look forward to your videos. My closest friend died as a result of a motorcycle accident some years back and I still think of him often. I wasn’t there to see it happen but visited him in the hospital before he passed away. He was 88 years old. His goal was to stop at 90. He loved riding. RIP Sammy. I am 70 and have no intention of quitting anytime soon. I’m riding a 900 lb bike at the moment and will downsize at some point, but not yet. My rides are day trips into the surrounding hills. I ride solo. Okay, it’s almost noon and time to swing a leg over the Harley and head to Globe AZ for some lunch. See you down the road.

Please look at the 2023 Yamaha Xmax 300 ....I'm 70 and I bought one and it is fast top speed 87 mph yet gets 75mpg plenty of storage under seat only weighs 400 lbs .....you will love it !!!!

I stilly daily commute, which increases the likelihood of driver nonsense. My solution to minimize car contact as much as possible has been track days and planned touring. I'm 50, live in San Francisco and commute/tour on an MT-10 and have an XR650R supermotard for track. Cheers.

That looked absolutely terrifying. The only place I’ve seen that traffic that thick were LA and Washington DC. Course, it’s getting pretty bad around here, too.

Hey guys. I`ve been riding since the early 70`s on many different motorcycles, through all kinds of weather. My motorcycle still provides me with a feeling of a 14 year old boy that has stolen his Dad`s bike each time I ride. When this feeling is no more and "they" eventually pry my bike from my cold, dead fingers that`s when I`ll stop riding. Take it easy and enjoy the ride. Great one Craig. At age 72 (and I still wonder, "How did that happen?) I love riding as much as ever. All that you cited I've considered (except an RV).....having started riding at 58 my biggest regret is that I gave up so many years but, in hindsight too, if I had ridden earlier, I would never have been so career focused. At 78 still ridin my new Moto Morini 31/2 Sport from 1974. Dressed in my tailor made one piece leathers from 1966, Gold Top boots. Topped of with my puding basin Cromwell helmet and Fospaic goggles from 1967.

A lot of of it is down to luck. I ( touch wood !) dont suffer from any aches and pains apart from an aching thumb now and again , and can ride my bikes without difficulty . One of which is a KTM GT. Turning 74 next week and i still ride every day. A week ago I rode 1000 miles across northern Argentina on my Honda Falcon 400. In April I will be back in the US and riding my Wing. Can't ride hard in the dirt any more but I ride. Hoping for many more years but see the end coming.

My dad road into his early 80's. His last year he road around 7k miles. I looked at my dad's tires and said "Hey Dad", you still have nubs on your tires! He took it to heart and stopped riding. I felt bad about saying it but it was time. My dad is an excellent rider and I have seen him out ride myself and other geared up fast riders on his 650 vstrom at 75 years of age. Dad turns 86 today and I have no doubt he could still ride if he wanted to. Dad still rides his bicycle when the weather is nice and his stationary when it is not. I love my dad for bringing motorcycles into my life. I have a v-strom 650, best bike ever made and a 2016 BMW R1200R. Thanks Dad!

I'm 79 and decided to give up two wheels when my riding bud's began to question me if I was ok. Talking with them I began to understand that my skills had slipped to the point that they were concerned. I'm the guy that took some type of rider training every two years . I was that guy who dragged many of them along and encouraged them to find training opportunities and share them with the group. So I bought a Mustang cabriolet to replace my wonderful machines . It's a nice car but it's just not the same as riding. So the Mustang is up for sale and I am considering a trike. I have ridden a couple and while it's different it's better than the cabriolet. Will I buy one , maybe . But I can promise you I'll not be getting a motor home. Uncle Sam cured me of camping and playing with guns .

Hi. My wife and I mostly don't ride two up anymore. She supports me riding. But I am thinking of down seizing. I am 71 and I have retired from a job I loved. I have back problems, so I know my days are numbered riding. I don't know what kind of long distance I can do anymore. Some times it is days after riding before my back stops hurting. So I only ride short runs round trip. I will hate not being able to ride when it comes. Riding, releases any tension and allows me to clear my brain. Also I ride like every one is trying to kill me. Keeps me alert while out there. Keep on coging and stay up right .

No two up for us either (I am 74). My back is a nightmare as well BUT short hops into town are a joy. I just bought a kickstand extender so shifting the bike upright is easier. When it stops being fun, stop doing it - until then ride on.

Excellent advice. I downsized from a R1100RT to a 350 Meteor. Wasn't too hard of a decision. A buddy of mine purchased a 1200 cruiser from an older gentleman who dropped it turning into his driveway. The gentleman quit riding. Sadly I think it will always be the case where young rides believe they can do anything and are indestructible. Although there is no such thing as perfect, practice does indeed edge a rider closer. Stay safe 😎

I started riding at 6 and am now 50 and I still ride, daily. Constant rider training/track days and a few physical therapy experiences from broken bones keep me grounded on my MT-10, which my family appreciates. Like other posters have mentioned, weight training is key to keeping things upright. Hope to never stop. Cheers.

I’m 70 this year and have returned to biking after a 50 year break. I also have good mechanical skills. I’ve never been happier and gained so many new friends. (I only ride solo as my wife is not interested in biking) but If you are still competent driving a car you should also be able to safely ride with care.

15 years ago, at age 55, I gave up flying and sold my plane because I could no longer squeeze in and out of it (an ultralight) without help and I was doing dumb sh!t that could get me k!lled quite often. I plan to use that same criteria for deciding when it's time to stay off 2 wheels. 🚲

That's an easy one. Just remember what Clint Eastwood said. A Man has got to know his limitations. Riding Scooter for 62 years now, it'll be 63 years this coming June. My last Two motorcycles are Harley Davidson's 1989 Sportster and a 1993 Electra Glide. Love to Ride, Live to Ride. Safely is King.

In 93 I gave up riding after about 17 years of riding. I got tired of getting wet, tired of being cold, and tired of the risk. People don’t see other vehicles, and they certainly don’t see motorcycles.

Great words of wisdom, and insight. At 62 years of age, and 40 years of riding bikes. I finally got hit on my motorcycle two years ago broke every bone on the left side of my body. I have now recovered and still continue to ride. Before I hop on my ultra classic I’m now a fan of Aleve. which I take a few hours before each ride. Planning on selling the bike because of the ongoing knee issues, and heading to a 800 cc bike. Anyways, my friend You be safe out there enjoy life to the fullest, and may you ride to your hearts content.

I am 61 and considering my first bike. My plan is to take a basic riders course. Maybe that will be enough. My past has seen the dangers of riding a motorcycle. 1-1/2 years ago I crashed my Sportster 1200 48 model bike, I was 82 years of age and for a moment while laying in the hospital I thought my ridings days was over, a week after surgery to fix broken bones in my right leg I crawled on a Harley trike and took a ride with cast still on it, over 5000 miles on the trike last year and many rides planned for 2024,, if life is good I hope to make Sturgis SD again, last year a death in the family prevented our trip, first visit on a chopper in 1962, an old 53 panhead with bald tires

Craig, great video, long time viewer.. Yes it's a personal choice. i turned 60 this year and have crossed the US at least 6 times on my motorcycle with wife on the back.. Looking at downsizing from my roadmaster to something smaller for local trips. I still love to ride but started to enjoy taking 4 wheels out west and staying in a nice Airbnb for a month. I have looked at trailering out a smaller bike or renting one locally. It's not physical limitations (yet) it's just a new way to adventure travel a little more comfortably.... Each to his own!

Great topic. At 75 I’ve been contemplating the inevitable for a year or two . For a couple reasons I sold my beautiful 700 lb cruiser & am now riding a 350 lb Dual sport which is much more suited to the area where I now live plus its mush more agile & easy to move around in tight spaces. My brother is 79 & still rides so I’m hoping I have a few more yrs left. I also have a bicycle which is enjoyable but at a much slower pace. I guess the bicycle is my retirement plan😂😂

I'm now 143lbs, 5 ft 10, 68 yo, now a vegan, skiiny fit, now a non-drinker and riding an FJR. We have a 28ft A class and a home on the lakes. I know it but can't believe the clock is quickly winding down so I'm extending my healthy years, thanks to my wife. I want at least another 10 years of this lifestyle and I get that living healthy is the only way this is going to happen.

Rode hard & fast fir 5-6 years in my youth. Settled down to have my own family after I had sown a lot of oats. This is my son’s channel, a quarter century later. But I lost her 13 months ago. I already bought the Hinckley triple I always liked as a street sleeper for reasons I won’t go into. Most of my & my wife’s family opposed. Fortunately my doctor says I have all that I need to be licensed & ride again It is now my life. Free to ruin it my own way. Look for a silver 955i. Do or die. My age is irrelevant. 74 in March and I have no intention of quitting! Have a 2016 Triumph Explorer 1200 XRT and I tour every Spring and Fall. My second bike is a 2021 NC-750x so I’ve compromised on around town riding. Great little bike and I rode to Michigan from Wisconsin last fall. Next move will be to a Can Am. If you can, keep pushing on!

A riding buddy of mine had a problem with neuropathy and his Golding fell over on him and he was pinned under it . He is in his 70’s . He switched to a can am and he loves it . I’m 68 this yr . The drivers are horrible here in upstate ny . I quit riding about 5x now because of it . Sold my bike and then missed riding and bought another one .each time . Expensive doing that . I also at one point in 2020 decided to get a trike . It’s nice . I don’t need it yet physically. I also have a hd street glide . I will say that the trike feels a lot more comfortable and there is no comparison in stability . I feel its size make a safer presence on the road . If I do a trip with my wife the trike is our choice

Im 58 and due to arthritis, have to reconsider my choice of bikes to continue riding. Adventure bikes look like the most comfortable way forward but its tough to part with my sports bike. It is tough getting older!

I'm 83, stopped riding 4 years ago (BMW K75) due to the smartphones distracting everyone. Never been down, but I rode terrified (more fun that way, all told). Now I drive electric amd concentrate on hi-miling. To each his own, but my excellent wife is sure happier! I watch RU-vid crash videos a lot to stay scare and to train my reflexes...

Great video you make a good point you said what I don't want to admit. I'm 66 had a bad wreck in 09 which caused back surgery in 2019 and it didn't go well. I now have a right foot that doesn't work to well and bad leg strength. I am working on getting stronger but a Hawg ain't little or lite. I'm at the cross roads of riding and I hate it still got my first Harley I bought at 19 I will never sell it. I started with Hot rods guess it may be time to sell my two other bikes and go back to a 4 wheel toy . Guess you are right you need to know when to say when and the little woman would be happy she's worth it .✌️😎

I have to say that your video has an extremely well thought out view of the when is it time to stop riding. Particularly as you highlight how one might consider the concerns of a wife or children, and the burden a crash can put on a partner when they become a caretaker. Thank you for producing this video. JUST BE SURE TO WATCH FOR SIGNALS. USUALLY THE FIRST SIGNS COME AT SLOW SPEEDS. TURNING AROUND AND EVEN WOBBLY STOPPING. I SAY THIS ASSUMING HE RIDES A BIG BIKE.

You, Sir, are a very wise motorcycle rider. I am 62 years old. I started riding when I was 17 and was a motorcycle rider until 25. Then I got married to the most beautiful woman in the world. She was 20 years older than me. I decided to get off the bike so I could be around for her and not a part of the pavement. We were married for 32 years until the day she passed away. That was 7 years ago. I miss her dearly. I am disabled now. Two years ago, I bought a motorcycle. My motorcycle is all I have to live for. I still ride. Except for now, during the Winter. I do think about the day when I can no longer ride. When the day comes that I can no longer hold up my bike, I will get a sidecar. Or maybe a Spyder. You made me think. What will I do when I can no longer ride?. I think that will be the I die.

It is such a joy to zip around all over Nicaragua on my 2018 Yamaha FZS (150cc). I'm 65 (American) and probably the oldest person in the country on a bike. I have no intention of stopping anytime soon, although the Ibuprofen sounds like a good idea. A few months ago I crashed my Honda Shadow in Virginia, so I'm quite aware of my declining skills. @@charlesbradley2943 Nicaragua is a very youthful culture, with different cultural norms. There are way more motorcycles on the road than cars because of the nature of low wages. Elderly Nicaraguan men do not ride. The common motorcycle here is between 100 and 200 cc, with names like Pulsar, Genesis and Bajaj. Even in the cities, bikes outnumber cars. And from the vantage point of my motorcycle seat, I can see all other riders. Many of them do not wear helmets. Many of them are young women. There are no Harleys, there are no Goldwings, there is rarely a bike of any size or style that you would consider American. I ride almost every day. I have been to Managua and back many times. I have traveled to Granada, Esteli, Ometepe, San Juan del Sur, and Leon and many points between. I have walked the streets and mercados and have never seen an old man carrying a helmet. If I had ever encountered a gentleman of my age on a motorcycle in Nicaragua we would have something in common and a basis for conversation. It has never happened. I am probably the oldest person on a motorcycle, that I know of, so far. Most elderly Nicaraguan men can't afford a motorcycle. Even if they could, their culture tells them it's a young man's game. So, for dignity, they don't ride. I don't have this concern, as a foreigner. Nicaraguan men work hard their entire lives. At my age, their bodies are more worn out than mine. They don't ride. The sport bikes here are not known for comfort. I do it because I am blessed with a youthful spirit and could afford the $2500 price tag of a new Yamaha. This is the equivalent of an average, rural Nicaraguan annual salary.

Like you my riding bro crashed in front on me on our way back to So Cal from Sturgis. It was in 2002 outside of Gunnison, CO and I still see it vividly in my head all the time. He broke a lot of bones but healed and continued riding. I’m 63 and plan to ride until I cannot but you never know when that day will come so keep your head on a swivel and be as smart as you can. I really enjoy your content so keep it going!

Yup, I can admit to being old, age-wise (I'll be 74 this Fall). I rode the Dempster this past July and this coming July I plan to both the Dempster and Dalton, on my R1250GSA. Yes, it is definitely harder to pick up that bike now and unless I take all the luggage off and have Adrenalin flowing I need help. Point 2, my eldest son had an MC accident about 15 years ago and is now a para so I'm also familiar with close family members experiencing life altering accidents. I've only broken a few bones from crashes. I also downhill ski. Yesterday while out skiing when I came into the lodge I met a person I hadn't seen for some time. When I first met him over a decade ago he was already well into his Senior years. He says he skis every day and he is either in his late 80s or early 90s. My point being, part of aging and deciding to not do things is based upon both physical AND metal condition. Don't cut yourself short but also don't be overconfident and stupid. And yes ultimately it is your choice and that choice is different for everyone. Oh and there are some people who are WAY younger who should never get on a Motorcycle!

I'm 78, my biker buddy is 85, during the summer months we're out at least twice a week for a 200 - 400 ride outs, plus we do a lot of charity runs, one which is every year and we've done 18 so far, is a 100 km ride with between 15,000 and 20,000 bikers ...were not even considering hanging up our helmets yet. Biking is what keeps us mentally alert and physically fit...

Great video. Staying in shape is a must especially as you get older. If you don’t want to end up in an old folks home, you have to take care of yourself by eating properly and exercising with weights or something similar. Not only will this help you with riding a motorcycle, but it also helps you avoiding dementia according to neurologists. So many people use the excuse of age but at the same time, don’t do anything to help themselves healthwise as they get older, then they just blame their health issues on their age and not on their bad habits and lifestyles. Glad to hear your wife has recovered. That sounds like one terrible accident and that would definitely make me think twice about riding again, as I know the frustrations of getting hurt and not being able to have a normal life and enjoy things you love while you’re on the mend.

Sold my 2021 Road Glide Limited last September, I loved that bike but had difficulty at low speeds with it. I purchased a 2023 Heritage to replace the RGL. I’m a lot more confident and really enjoyed your message. I’m 71, had a brutal accident in 2006, broke pelvis & back. I was (trying) to ride 6 months later. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t be riding today. I’m a lifer when it comes to the bike. My wife also rides her own - her bike is currently a hundred pounds heavier than mine!

I'm 69 just bought a new 2022 Triglide Ultra for the wife and a 2022 Road King for myself last summer in 2022. Had my 1st motorcycle when I was 16. I believe witnessing an accident is better than being in one however if you know how and why the accident happened that you witness can help keep you safer by remembering what the cause was. Stay safe.
