People in Japan can pronounce it right but there are some Japanese people who try to sound "cool" and they end up doing this

It is. It's actually hilarious but if you have Japanese friends go ask them. They'll tell you 100000 different funny stories that's something like this. It's either 1 - "You speak English!? You american wannabe lol" or 2 - "Your engrish is bado. Your bocaburary is noto goodo. Trust me or if you can't trust me ask other Japanese people

I have separate experiences that were similar. A friend from high school had gone to America for university and suddenly he had an American accent after spending 7 months there. it wasn't just that he had cleaned up all the slangs and sounds we used to add here in Malaysia. It was hilarious to hear him. For the 2nd, we had two Japanese students spend a week or a month in our high school. Their opening speech had one of them say "I like Malaysian bitches, they are very beautiful". I'm not sure if she was talking about bitch or beach either..

At best you may start picking up an accent. There was a Jocky - Steve Cauthen. Won the biggest horse race in the US, the Kentucky Derby. Was born in Kentucky. Kentucky has its own accent. Moves to England to race. Next time (maybe a year later) I see him interviewed on TV. You would have sworn he was born in England.

It happens to Americans, too. Kids will go study abroad and come back with an accent from wherever they visited. A French accent, a British accent, an Italian, and the most problematic accent of all for white American kids... a Jamaican accent.
@penttikoivuniemi2146
@penttikoivuniemi2146 2 года назад
That's pretty normal to be honest, when you are surrounded by a certain way of talking 24/7 for a while, you automatically end up adapting it to a degree. Obviously if somebody is only there for a month or so they are faking it, but accents and speech patterns get ingrained into your brain faster and easier than you'd think. Live abroad half a year and you will already see clear influence.

I'm from Sweden and my friend had this same mispronunciation in class when reading aloud to the class. "I am going to the B*TCH" and as true friends we teased her for a few weeks about it :p Less funny similarity was learning the pronunciation differences of beer/bear and that pear and pair are annoyingly similar.
@XxParasite
@XxParasite 2 года назад

@user-re9ev4ev7s 2 года назад
Same in TW, this mispronunciation is surprisingly international
@cvs4063
@cvs4063 2 года назад
@@XxParasite wait, isn`t bitch and beach too? And night/knight. How can you heard it like different words? No... Real question is how can you say it different way! How? Or no one can actually, and this is just a global conspiracy.
@gyannunez
@gyannunez 2 года назад
@@cvs4063 “Knight” and “night” are pronounced exactly the same, but originally were pronounced differently. “Beach” and “bitch” have different vowel sounds. “Beach” uses what is called a close front untouched vowel, which is shown as this /i/ in the International Phonetic Alphabet. This is a very common sound that occurs in most languages. “Bitch” used what’s called the near-close near-front unfounded vowel, which is written as /ɪ/ in the IPA. This is a much less common sound and only occurs in some languages. The way you make each sound is similar, but the main difference is when you say the /ɪ/ sound, your tongue is lower in your mouth than the when making the /i/ sound.
@cvs4063
@cvs4063 2 года назад
@@gyannunez so now I wonder if... Should knight carries other meaning at English since English speaker every time he hears this word, also remembers night? Well... It doesn't work that way... Right? But I'm still curious.

Something same happened when i use to live in korea. In my 3rd grade a new transfer student came from America. She was korean. She knew nothing about English. She was smart ans beautiful, which made people believe that she was American. She actually went to America with her father for a month who was on a business trip. Well she didnt act like she is American or she doesn't know korean...its just people around her started glorifying her and made her member of student council and such.

The same thing happens here on México when people (no matter if they're students or not) go to USA. When they come back the only thing they do is speak english and talk about money, buildings, food, malls, etc. Of course, most of people here make fun of them 'cause they're so pretencious and bad at speaking (and writing) english. Honestly it surprises me to see the same thing on other country like Japan.
