Update: I changed the keyboard layout in Adobe Premiere (my editing software) while my wrist heals, so I will be able to edit easier. I will have more video output this week!

@@FightCommentary I actually saw a Wing Chun fighter go against an MMA fighter and lasted longer than expected. Some of the Kung Fu fighters are stepping up.

The day Qi La La puts his hands up is the day we cheer & celebrate. But that day is yet to come...

Yeah tbh chi sao only makes sense to me as a sensitivity grappling drill, plus Lau Gar! That'a MVP's background

Those kung fu movements need to be made more practical. No use for such wasted movement. Like at 0:11 turning away from an attack like that is bad unless your doing an attack or running away. I think. He did have some good looking stuff. alot of his attacks look decent. Aside from his hands being loosey goosey
@neokimchi
@neokimchi 19 дней назад
They're just playing around mainly. A lot of the decent attacks (esp involving the trapping) are also kung fu.

I think your concern is valid, but the spin away can actually work quite well, if you practice it often and stay defensive. But I think this guy would have trouble doing it with his hands down in real life

2:06 Sadly, you were wrong. He would be Qi la la's friend (Teacher Jerry Young is in silver hair) who was experiencing and trying the sticky hand training with him.

The bladed position was and still is favored in martial arts competitions where the rules either prohibit or allow little grappling. We see it a lot in Karate and Taekwondo.

In our ITF, we blade for point sparring and square up for continuous sparring

2:06 saddly, you 're wrong. I think he is Qi la la's friend more than is Teacher Jerry Young (he is silver hair).

Kung Fu movements take so much energy.
@Seven-not-Six

I just recently started learning Monkey. I agree. The (energy) is Crazy. Need to make it count. Naturally meant for self defense. Not the ring

That's why we do so much conditioning.

I disagree. Bouncing around on feet takes more energy and more unstable
@justinAclark2075
@justinAclark2075 18 дней назад
I think that's generally true of Eastern martial arts, because the people building it were smaller and they could move around easier. Also, some styles were made for fighting in mud or water, and so the movements are wider, because it takes more energy to move at all. But there are some which truly minimalize the energy needed, such as Ba Gua. A true master would be able to dodge more efficiently than a boxer would, and while staying closer to their opponent.

@@justinAclark2075 East and Southeast Asians tend to have better cardio than others, because they walk or cycle around, rather than drive or take a bus.

I'd like to see a little more defense with the hands, but honestly, this is what good "kung fu" looks like. No set place to stand or position to stand in. Just natural movements to protect your weak spots, and whip-like striking (at least with a few of these guys, especially the first guy with the red gloves)

Jerry - bro, You might have kicked a hornets nest with the British Lau Gar footage. Very controversial system. Have a little google and make up your own mind. Lots of people out there (including Hung Gar master Mark Houghton) think it's not really what it says on the label. Love the channel!

some of these shots qi la la seems to be eating, he is actually dodging with neck roll. towards the beginning, he spun all the way around with that hook and didnt take much damage. then some moments later he takes a straight to the face but he snaps his own head back, not the punch, so he didnt take much from it.
