I know - disgraceful scenes! He just really really likes boats!

"Trying to cause mayhem and hit other boats"... not at all. No boats hit, nothing damaged at all, and no one held up either. The first time Barnet appeared was to collect Richard Parry who changed his mind and decided not to come. The second time with Scouser and Barnet we were enjoying the parade and providing some action and movement for the spectators and were careful to move around in the gaps between other boats so as not to be disruptive. Incidentally all the people on the tugs in the video are also IWA members, the company is a corporate member, and we supply a good deal of equipment to the event, like the pontoon being used as a stage and the smaller tug used by WRG, free of charge to enable the event to take place.

@@jamesthecox so why do pirouettes in the pool when when others boats were participating in the organised parade… being an IWA member doesn’t mean you get to rain on anyone’s parade… the organisers said the banthams weren’t even registered for the cavalcade… why not officially take part if you want to participate? last year one of them went through the bridge so fast that they couldn’t stop when a go boat was in the way and clattered me so hard that I was knocked off my seat… Why not just let the boaters do what they had come a long way and paid to do without having to avoid idiots who should know better…

@@trossyafon8214 why do pirouettes in the pool? Because it is interesting for the public, first and foremost. More action and spectacle than a slowly chugging series of very similar looking narrow boats. Very appreciated too from all the comments I saw on the day and subsequently. As I said in the previous comment, we were careful to only do things between other boats in a natural lull, briefly, and moved about the pool- the longest time spent being to the side of the island, out of the parade route. The entire time we were observing what else was happening and instantly moved out of the way of anyone wishing to move through. And we were particularly careful that no-one had to avoid us, we were always giving way and moving around them. it's a bit hard to "register boats for cavalcade" when you're not sure which boats will be there until the day before- because they are working, day in and day out, all over London and surroundings. Including moving the floating stuff for Cavalcade, placing, moving and replacing the buoys for the boat handling, and moving non-participating, unattended boats for the IWA and CRT so that everyone can be moored where they are put by the organisers. I think the organiser you spoke to wasn't particularly well informed, because the company that owns these tugs is an official commercial partner of the event. It seems the organisers have decided that charging £30 or £40 to register boats that may or may not be there, to a company that is providing thousands of pounds worth of support free of charge, is a bit churlish. I personally spent about 14 hours that week, unpaid, doing work that would support Cavalcade, such as securing the handrails to the floating stage at 10pm on Friday whilst everyone else was enjoying the beer tent! However there are other tugs also in the area owned by other people and companies, which complicates the matter. What colour was the tug that was speeding last year?
