itachi semi killed him if you want to consider it death some might consider it more of like permanently disabled him from doing anything for a very long period of time but... kishimoto decided orochimaru wasnt done yet so retconned that orochimaru developed a ninjutsu using juugo's curse mark that essentially lets him cheat death so long as his chakra exists within the living realm, but as far as we know he has not placed anymore of those marks on anyone else besides Anko and Sasuke who now no longer have those marks. so he can't revive himself anymore so far as we're concerned but its always in the eye of the beholder to decide since kishimoto can write anyone back in in whatever way he pleases and make it make any sense at all even if the fans hate it.

Videos like this put to bed why anybody in the Akatsuki would stomp the Sound 5, for example. Orochimaru is mid tier Akatsuki, and he was LAUGHING at a 4 tails Naruto. Deidara was more concerned with Kakashi than (3?) tails Naruto, and indeed, Deidara couldve taken that Naruto if he had to, as could've Sasori. The Sound 5 are strong Chunin individually, and they're low(mid)-Jonin as a group with(out) Kimmimaro.... but that's it. They would never be able to take on any Akatsuki duo and live to talk about it, it would quickly turn into "Men vs. Boys"
