Thanks for your excellent presentation. I think what you mean is dentists need to “sell problems not solutions” until your patient understands their symptomless tooth has a crack in it and is unstable, they won’t want your solution. Intraoral cameras are compulsory for this.

In the very near future you will observe many dentists recommending replacement of existing amalgam restorations that do not need replacement and are replaced with tooth colored composite restorations. More than 90 out of 100 times these replacements are not needed and more than 90 out of 100 times the process is not done with proper rubber dam isolation that enables a dentist to provide bonded composite restoration competently. There is no excuse not to use a rubber dam or an isoolite. Cotton rolls and suction may be adequate for packing an amalgam but a properly placed composite requires extended isolatiion from saliva.

Two years ago the lab fee foe these crowns exceeded 300 dollars on average. My lab began to offer Katana Zirconia crowns that are simply beautiful and fit precisely for less than 200 dollars. I can use another lab that offers Zirconia crowns for 145 dollars. I like that the Zirconia crowns will likely not fracture. +Rinesh Ganatra you made good points but dentists would get a lot more business if costs git cut by even 50% and with dental insurance you owe huge copays or deductibles a cleaning alone is around 50-150 depending where you go. A more pricey procedure like a root canal is 1000 dollars and up that is crazy obviously dental care plays a role but a lot of kids dont listen growing up and become adults and have to pay the consequences for that the last dentist i saw ended up messing up my tooth and cracked it now i got receding gums and he got fired and passed away so i cannot really pursue any case so i was quoted by a dentist for upwards of 20 grand for a root canal 4 wisdom teeth removals and a small gum graft to fix the receding i have that is insane dentists dont pay that much for the crowns etc. it is understandable you guys got bills also but the costs for some people are a months pay if not more for 1 procedure that can fail and not work instead of fillings dentists need to look more into healing cavities without drilling that is what leads to the more big problems and im living proof of it.

Guys, he's obviously not talking about patients on medicade/medicare, these are more for PPO/OOP patients. Tbh, dental professionals know that patients on medicade or medicare cannot afford the more expensive options, so medicade/medicare participating dentists will just do what the insurance plan pays for and nothing more.

I am NOT happy about NEEDING dentures but even root planing and scaling has not saved my top teeth.. or brushing, flossing, RX mouthwashes and higher flouride toothpastes ( also RX.. prevident). getting fed up with spending money for NOTHING only to be told ALL of my teeth will eventually need pulling anyhow.. Thanks Sjogrens.. teeth are all crumbling. I have NO pain in any bottom tooth that I can see decay on so I see no need to have it Pulled. my Insurance wont cover a crown so they just yank them. the one thing that IS giving me grief right now Plus diagnosed osteomyelitis is a 'retained Molar root" sticking out into my left cheek and cutting it to shreds. I guess I can leave the teeth that re NOT causing me any pain or Infection alone, but this root has to go.. my dentures are NOT gonna fit over a HUGE root sticking out the SIDE of my gums. Sorry I am just VERY upset I was not told about BONE SHARDS or any of this >:( they hurt to the point I take a tweezers to them.

Edward Dergosits not true at all- I suggest you check your sources/ articles again. Amalgams are definitely not the treatment of choice at all.
@doctoredable
@doctoredable 4 года назад
@@dentalpracticemastery FWIW I have not placed more than a handful of amalgam restorations since 1993. I have observed success for these restorations for the past 25 years with more than 95% of class 2 restorations servicing without recurrent caries. I always use a rubber dam to achieve isolation and control of the operative site. As you well know the average service expectancy of a class 2 composite is less than 6 years. This is not inherent for the material but a reflection of how poorly these restorations are generally placed. After 39 years in practice I see amalgam restorations that are more than that old alfa rated. The difference is that anyone can successfully place an amalgam restoration that will service for decades. Few can place a composite restoration that will service more than 5 years.

It Costs half a million dollars to be a dentist in the US- most clinicians I know care about their patients and part of providing great care is to also run an ethically patient based business as well. @@dentalpracticemastery Even your citation of the iPad/Steve Jobs example confirms what I'm saying. You see dentistry as a job of an entrepreneur, not from the point of view of a doctor whose main goal is to take care of people's health. I did the research and I have an idea about the price of the materials you use. So, I can confirm to you that your prices are very high. If not how can explain the huge difference between your rates and the rates of dentists in other countries, Turkey for example. (there are countries where the price is much much lower, such as Tunisia). Even if we take into account the price of rent, taxes, etc, this doesn't explain your crazy high prices. In the end, I tell you, I don't care that you raise your prices to a million dollars per tooth. What really bothers me is that the dentists are claiming something that is not true. You are just entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs, with the difference that you monopolize the market and this is the main reason for me that your prices are very high. These are my my convictions based on research, not accusations. Cheers!

dentists came from barbers. physicians came from shamanism. i dont think where it comes from matters for a profession to be held to different standards.
