the reason is due to different voltage to power the screens. and also, the screen youve got is actually the small nbt evo screen. so it is still 6.5 inch. Also, youve got cic. which means you have hu_entry. You cant code a larger screen to hu_entry. you will need to swap head unit to hu_entrynav or hu_nbt if you want larger screen! Cheers mate. Yes mate, did you ever get round to trying a different screen at all? Thinking of doing the same, I've found an F20 screen that was on a 1 series but not sure if it will work.. got a 2012 1 series with the same standard screen!
Hi, no sorry. After posting this video I did try another screen which fit perfectly but again ran into some issues. Turns out that it wasn't a simple coding problem. Personally I don't mind the smaller screen now, but if I wanted one I think I would have just got the Android screen. Alot less hassle. But if you do find a system that works, make sure to put it below and ill check it out 👍
I've got a Carplay/Android auto screen/display but I'm not happy with how inconsistent and laggy it is. I was wondering how's the MMI box been for you in terms of it's consistency with calls and connecting to Carplay/Auto and does your one have reverse camera compatibility? I'm thinking of getting a full android screen but the price is making me hesitant even though I know it'll be worth it.
We have fitted many Android touchscreens with reverse camera's for BMWs, they have wireless Apple CarPlay/Android auto, ability to watch RU-vid/Netflix etc.!
the android screen shine like a mirror and look grey when turned off. The BMW ones are matt and black what i like better. When the android ones are hit direct sunlight you cant see anything!
So for some reason I have problems with the oem microphone when I'm driving, but not when I'm parked. Think it has something to do with the systems harness. Might need to make a custom one from scratch. Apart from that the system runs great, just wish I had the bigger screen as the the main screen with multiple windows on it makes the map hard to see. Not a problem that you get with the bigger screens. But at the end of the day its a user preference.

yeah i was looking at installing one but the wiring alone would take me hours so decided against it. There are alot of companies such as Bimmertech that do provide universal cameras, but its justifying the time at the moment for something i wouldnt really use
