My husband is 80 and his GFr is 15 but went up to 22. I understand it fluctuates. He is on a plant faced diet. Except for rare itching, he feels fine and looks fine with a very positive attitude. He has refused Dialysis.

@@TheVirtualNephrologist I know…makes sense and I ll try. But truth to be told, the size of my kidneys today, the pain, and the huge amount of doctor appointments makes me so tired sometimes…. PKD is easy to “fix” with a transplant but the journey to do it is massively exhausting….

Hello sir my mother is having CKD. Her creatinine level was 5.90 in August 2023 then 5.57 then 5.60 then 5.11 and now it's 5.74. Non diabetic. Hemoglobin is 11. Potassium normal. Bicarbonate normal Calcium normal Uric acid normal Urine output is normal , no swelling and non diabetic only hypertension. Weight is maintained approx 67 kgs. She is doing household activities and no swelling no breathlessness. Is dialysis required is this case ?? I am very much worried about Creatinine levels. Please suggest, she is already under guidance of good nephrologist.

Thank you. I share the opinion of your Nephrologist. You are worried about the creatinine, but other parameter are essential as well. And since she is well, Potassium, bicarbonate, strength and life activity, then There is no emergency to start HD. It should be on the horizn though. Please doctor i request you how many years he can live without kidney transplant?What is his life expectancy. He is diabetic.

Depends on the reason. for chronic kidney disease, advancing, no you can not reverse.. you can slow or halt. If it is acute event.. yes..there is a big chance of reversibility ( dehydration.. medications.. sepsis.. allergy and some auto immune disorders..) @@TheVirtualNephrologist My father's Serum phosphate is 4.3 mg/dL. Serum albumin is 3.0 g/dL. Serum calcium (total) is 8.7 mg/dL. Serum urea is 142 mg/dL. Serum potassium is 4.5 mmoI/L. Our nephrologist has recommended dialysis, I just wanted to take 2nd opinion.

@@MuhammadShahid-qk7qh His nephrologist will know if there are uremic symptoms. ( please rewatch the video and around third minute, it describes uremia, then if so he needs to start. He will feel so much better... Keep in mind, to live miserable, so he will not start HD.. is wasting valuable meaningful days of life...

My husband gfr 8, creatinine 7.3, bun 73, phosphorus 5.3, parathyroid 242. He has progressed weakness, some swelling, shortness of breath, and easily fatigue. He has diabetes and hypertension, does he need dialysis immediately.
