Finally someone who gets it. People are like “Well Rally Drivers aren’t affected by noise.” Completely ignoring the Morters and red Flares that obscure vision or are distracting.
I mean, still more chill than last year, where some fans waited for the gravel crews to go through just to fill a one corner with water and have it freeze to an ice patch where everyone crashed because no driver knew about it.
@@diplomatofthesosbrigade931 just type "wrc monte carlo 2023 fans having sex" it first thing that pops up. I remember watching that. It also was my first time watching wrc.
In most sports, the course-side security is there to make sure the fans don't interfere with the game. In WRC, the yellow vests you see in that video are there because WRC fans are mad enough to stand in the middle of the track if you let them.
Holy hell that’s some amazing footage watching that from the hood. Must be one of the coolest feelings in the world to be in the drivers shoes seeing people so enthusiastically cheering, even in the middle of the night in complete darkness.
I am sure the drivers would prefer the spectators would stay further away from the road though. They must feel quite anxious at being so close to chopping off people's hands. I know I would be. Also you can see in some of the onboards that the drivers are forced to stay quite far away from the guard rail, because of the fans of course.
@@PM0089it's hilarious, almost makes up for having to navigate through those kinds of people in the first place Getting in the way of the dangerous thing you're there to see it peak Darwin award
Yup. I never understood why in Tennis there must be dead silence. Also exactly the opposite happens at rally and it is quite dangerous some times with the fans
Rallying is more dangerous than most people realise. I’ve been a spectator, a marshal and even a driver in some local ones. Your life depends on the marshal and mechanics doing their jobs right, you not making grave errors and the fans not doing anything too stupid. And, still, a random bird or cow, a rock slide or even just a rock could send you off a cliff or impaled on a tree. The reason you don’t see people dying all the time (anymore) is because of consistently good organising, wrenching and driving and fans limiting themselves to not doing incredibly stupid things, just mildly stupid. End of the day, there’s little room left for ego when you have all these things to worry about.
If the people with thoose flares would stand on each side off the road with a few meters apart they could make it look like the drivers would go through some checkpoints
Well the obvious difference is, that if a crowd member messes up a tennis player; the results could be fatal but if they mess up a rally driver; worst is they could miss their shot.
Not sure why there's a comparison between Rallying and Tennis, completely different sports. I'm sure tennis players could play with noise (if it was consistent) but prefer it without noise, just like I'm sure these drivers would prefer not having fireworks and crowd leaning over barriers so they can concentrate better. I think a better comparison would be with F1 where no such thing would be allowed even though they're more similar sports.
The title reminds me of that on video when a family recording a deer outside their house then the husband sneezed and it scares the deer away. The wife sighing and the husband protest "Am I not allowed to sneeze??" lmao
I did drive on the same streets at bright daylight in the summer and I could never be as fast. I have 10 years of experience on race tracks with historic cars, but this is just insane. They do this at night at the Col de Turini in the winter. More often than enough there is snow and the fans are also spilling water on the turns, so it gets extra icy and slippery.
the same at snooker...these are some people coughing from time to time and the referee and players look at them with an angry face "hw dare you disturb the utter silence"
Ralley drivers are absolutly crazy, you gotta have huge balls to drive a car like that. And dont even start about the insanity that was group b back in the day
Tennis is how it should be, WRC is how it should be, but you know whats not? Volleyball and Basketball, they hire a DJ to blast same jingles over and over between every point and sometimes during the play, its ridiculous.
Well you are providing light for them so they probably like it because it lights up positions that headlights can't light up and idk about you but I would appreciate that because I'm just saying when you are racing you don't really see anything ahead or behind you or off the track you are dead focused on what's coming
Most of the time when I switched to a tennis match broadcast on television, it's always the sussy labourous moans from the players and I can't bear to watch the match
