I speak to plants in a game we're playing. The GM decided that the plants only understand plant things, like sun, breezes, water, etc. The information has still been surprisingly useful.

@@efaristi9737 Wildfire druids are about the cycle of life. That which lives must die to make room for new growth. From the ashes of forest fires new soil is enriched so that new plants may grow, and so forth.

@@nochancewithoutpasta7637 Could be for a greater good. Perhaps the druid is on an adventure to stop the BBEG who brings armageddon. Whats one forest fire to save the planet? Druids also dont inherently take any oaths to protect nature. Its not really a religious order. More so a group of nature-minded individuals with relatively similar goals. The druid, if powerful enough, would also be able to cast plant growth to replace the forest as if nothing really happened. Theres no strict code to druidism, and even among the circles morality is heavily varied. They will just as soon murder a lumberjack simply trying to feed and clothe his 6 kids for chopping the wrong tree, as they would help a lost traveller, or kill an animal disrupting the balance of nature. They are Chaotic Neutral/Evil on the best of days.

Trees or mushrooms would probably be the best to ask of natural landmarks thanks to the wood wide web. But, if you want specifics, I recommend a corvid (crow, ravin, magpie, etc.) They're the smartest birds, able to recognize distinct names and sounds, and they're cautious yet non judgemental. All you'd need is a decent charisma check, some tasty looking road rations (cheese seems to be a favorite, but meat and bread are good seconds,) and they'd be more than willing to give you directions. Only if you wrong them will you make an irredeemable enemy. If there are no corvids around then psittaciformes will do as a close second (parrots, parakeets, cockatoos, etc.)
