I’m surprised that Alakazam isn’t considered to be OU tier for Gen 3! That guy is a fucking monster!

He's just hard to justify in many teams when the tier is full of bulky psychic types that are already a terror on the meta, and the ever present Tyranitar. Bro is goated, it's just not his era.

This is the reason why I WILL ALWAYS pick Alakazam in Battle Factory Even in gen 4 I'm sorry but that speed is RIDICULOUS and they even gave it a very good moveset and special attack is 😵

Well it mean it was the Champion of the Elemental Punch-Out League back in Gen 2… of course this is gen 3 but still.

She's actually one of two of my all time favorite Pokemon characters especially after she returned as a secret agent so as much as this hurts to watch I cannot help but cheer for her for being a little shit at the same time.

No, the guy was just unprepared for her team, that's all. A snorlax could have easily destroyed Alakazam. Plus its fighting weakness would have been covered up by Latios. The guy made the wrong team choices while knowing the exact team and moveset that Anabel would use. It's hard to swallow that red pill though

The final move is disable, so not just that they wanna throw hands, they wanna make sure I can't fight back

That Alakazam had Brightpowder too, because Leaf Blade is 100% accurate. Someone would have to ask ChatGPT what the odds of the NPC being this lucky are, but it's probably 1 in 100,000+ something. But I've seen it plenty of times in Emerald's Battle Frontier, including the infamous Quick Claw OHKO sweep every Nidoking does with its built-in hacked ability No Guard, apparently.

It is fun when you don't lose to dumb bullshit, I recently tried doing the Battle Frontier for fun and then lost my streak to a team full of Pokémon with OHKO moves

To be fair, almost every experienced Pokemon player has won battles they had no business winning. It only makes sense the same thing can and should happen for the opponent as well. Sometimes you're the one doing the robbing, and sometimes you're the one who gets robbed, and I don't think Pokemon would be the same without it.

Battle Frontier is not fun once you understand that the challenge lies in eventually getting struck by bad luck, which with the number of battles required to face Frontier Brains becomes quite likely. Oh and also if you want a giggle look at how many Gen3 AI sets run Brightpowder.

@@kking1173 tbh I think the Battle Frontier is pretty fun, I mean there's a reason people want it back so much, and there's a reason I constantly go back to play it in HG, maybe you don't find it fun, but I do, it does eventually start to not be as fun once you get a high streak tho, this is mainly because the opponents start to get really cheap, like having teams that use OHKO moves, or sending out Pokémon that have a type advantage against some of your Pokémon, I'm even pretty sure the critical hit rate gets increased after awhile, basically eventually the Battle Frontier tries it's absolute best to make you lose, like recently in HG I had a Garchomp on my team and I had a pretty high streak, so the game kept having me against ice types or Pokémon with ice type moves

I mean, they are built the same way. The only real difference is that the newer games give you more resources to EV train to combat them, plus battle items. I prepared with a Anabel-counter team and it still gave me problems.

to be fair the biggest cause of losses in the frontier is not being prepared or studying up on teams. bringing a sceptile in is NOT the move to make lmao.

I was using a magnet on this run, I have since swapped to a Lum berry as well, it wasn't needed in my winning run, but it has been very helpful with other trainers in the tower

Typical gen 3 set would have been crunch, leaf blade, dragon claw, thunderpunch/leech seed I think

@@frankchen4229 thunderpunch is pretty common, a leech seed set would have substitute too so youd probably stick with just leaf blade (and potentially pursuit as the second attack)

See, I wanted to get thunderpunch, but to get thunderpunch you need bp, as for crunch it's an egg move, this is my starter Sceptile, and I want to get a lot of ribbons on the guy

Breeding one stat to full IV? I think it's doable, the judge will tell you the highest stat, but you're essentially just rolling dice, since parents are only guaranteed to pass 1 stat down. I just did some digging on bulbapedia though, I haven't actually tried IV breeding in emerald myself because it seems super tedious.

​@@fireswarmdragon If you are only talking about the Alakazam then it knows the three elementary punches along with Disable (for some reason). So let's say you are like most people and only get access to Pokémon you can catch in Hoenn (so no Umbreon or Tyranitar). You can either with something neutral to all punches (Aggron, Gardevoir, etc) or if you desperately need to counter this Alakazam get yourself a Houndoom (Houndour is in the Safari Zone) and slap a Lum Berry on it to minimize RNG. Crunch can seal the deal. However, playing around Brightpowder is a bit trickier. Honestly I'd go Hariyama (this thing doesn't have Psychic so you're fine) and with Thick Fat or Guts, there are two ways you can go about this fight. But a Choice Band with Vital Throw (which can't miss) will send this thing back to Red and Blue. Then Hariyama destroys her Snorlax. Anything else I can help you with ?

I appreciate the attempt to help me, but I've just chosen Latios since I know it's typical in speedruns of the frontier, Gyarados and Sceptile are two of my teammates, so I wanted to use them especially since I wanna get the ribbon on Sceptile. The battle frontier is a lot more than just a fight against Anabel, and this trio does a pretty decent job dealing with most threats
