In Israel, we are celebrating Purim - the holiday celebrating Queen Esther, who God used to save the Jewish people from destruction. However, in the book of Esther, God is working behind the scenes - His name is never mentioned throughout the book. Even though we may not recognize it, God is working in the world and in our lives, even in the midst of the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis.
The song "When The Morning Comes" (or "By and By") was written by Charles A. Tindley over 100 years ago, but still applies to us today. We adapted it to a new melody, and we hope it encourages you in these challenging times.
When The Morning Comes
lyrics: Charles A. Tindley
melody & arrangement: (c) 2020 Anthony Chapman
Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand
All the ways that God would lead us to that blessed promised land
But He'll guide us with His eye and we'll follow till we die
We will understand it better by and by
By and by, when the morning comes
When the saints of God are gathered home
We will tell the story of how we've overcome
We will understand it better by and by
Temptations, hidden snares often take us unawares
And our hearts are made to bleed for some thoughtless word or deed
And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best
We will understand it better by and by
Though we may be destitute of the things that life demands
Want of shelter and of food in thirsty hills and barren lands
Still we’re trusting in the Lord and according to His Word
We will understand it better by and by
Tossed and driven helplessly on the restless sea of time
Stormy skies and howling tempests often follow bright sunshine
But in that land of perfect day, when the mists have rolled away
We will understand it better by and by
