Friends this video has been a loooong time coming! Emma and I spent a few hours together recently creating two sessions, one for each of our channels. Its awesome to be reminded that no matter where you are as an artist, we are all still learning and pushing through our weaknesses!! I love this! Ps im have been mixing Emma and Kristy style for almost a year now...😘 Emma and shayda campbell taught be the basics and Kristy pushed the boundaries of mixing colors!! Now I that I have the foundation skills I'm trying more advanced classes and working towards my own expresstive style! You guys are great! Can't wait to see more!

I went looking for your tutorial on roses because I've been been painting them all week, and unlike you, less than 20% of mine I like! And where do the leaves go? It just doesn't come naturally, I have to look at something and even then I mess them up. I'm trying to do them in clusters.

This is my favorite video for a few reasons. First the vulnerability to ask for help and not be perfect is invaluable to see play out especially with painters we admire. This helps me acknowledge and try and put aside my need to be perfect and to ask for help. Second having one professional explain it not just to a blank screen audience but to another painter helped me see how to paint it better. Then when you did your drawing and she helped you see what you needed to tweak it was super helpful as these as the slip ups most of us watching might do but not see. Please do more of these!!!

Funny how I recently found both of your channels and now you've done two collab videos! Kristy, I hope your son has a wonderful reading teacher. You've got the right idea in encouraging him. My sister and I are both retired from teaching reading. She was a full-time teacher and I was a reading teacher's assistant. Some of the best highlights of my life were having my students introduce me to their parents as ' This is Mrs. ... She taught me to read!'

We've been coming at the reading thing from a variety of angles. Recently my bff who runs curriculum for her district introduced me to articulatory gestures and this has changed the game for him big time!! And welcome to our watercolor world lol!

@@KristyRice Thank you, I'm happy to be here. I'm fairly new, okay, quite new, to watercolor painting. I'm so happy you found something that's helping your son read better. Reading opens up so many worlds for each of us. I have been retired for 16 years and my sister a little longer. I personally have not heard of the articulatory gestures. She taught Reading Recovery. Where I assistant taught, though I saw students on my own, we didn't have any fancy program.

I’m just so dang happy that i caught a vid that both of you are trying that darn rose! I love how you both do roses! And that’s where the authentic artist comes in! Bc i love how you both do roses! But i have so much problems with roses! But also ladies I’ve started to use a wedge brush to do exactly the last out that you two are doing and it looks really good as well! Love you both and that I’m getting two of my most favorite artists at one time!

I watched yours & Emma’s video ”Finding joy in watercolour” and I think that there is something very healing and comforting and also loving in you. I have not been sleeping very well (a family member is mentally ill) and watching your videos during the sleeples nights made me block the bad thoughts and I’ m sleeping better now. Hi I'm the gal who is crazy in love with your FIG painting AKA Brenda from Michigan. I love your new rose I really like the way you did the leaves. That hint of pink bleeding into the green wow. Sorry but I didn't care for your old way with the veins going far outside the leaf was too ?????? For me. But despite the old leaves I love 99% of your work. And I love your personality. I'm loving these videos of the two of you teaching each other. I was cheering you on Kristy! Don't tell Emma, but I think your rose came out better than hers ;) Seriously, though, great job! Roses are my nemesis. Something I tried once I understood the "how" of it was I tried with different brushes, angled shader, dagger, etc. Ladies, PLEASE make more videos together!

This was such an awesome tutorial. If it wasnt 5 am and I hadn’t been up since about 3 after only falling asleep at 1:30 then I would go try it out now. Im finally getting tired and need to try for sleep but will for sure try this out when I get up.
