Tahitian squash is one of my favorites. The seeds are pretty rare. My Tahitian squash vines get between 75 - 125 feet long. In my opinion, they beat out Butternut, hands down. My other squash favorite is Red Kuri squash. We just finished eating our last Tahitian squash in July and then we'll replenish by the end of September. Each Tahitian squash will feed a whole family + extra, usually. They sometimes get to 30 pounds each. Mine are typically 15 - 20 pounds each. I heard you mention that Reagan lives 30 minutes away...perhaps a backstory of your channel and yourselves? So glad to see someone else growing Tahitian squash.
I am growing this squash this year for the first time, I planted 4 plants and there are 4 to6 squash on each plant, thier vines are 20 + ft long looking forward to eating one and testing thier storage abilities
hello ma'am I am a subscriber from Philippines, I recommended my friends to watch your videos on your channel and also subscribe. I'm just attracted to your smile because you're so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
We cut our flower heads off, save the seeds and dry them or roast them, then we take a sharp knife and trim the outer flesh off the seed head. The flower head can then be sliced into steaks and fried in olive oil with a little garlic and salt. It’s absolutely delicious! Just make sure you trim it well front back and sides. The inner flesh is very light in color. It is one of our most loved garden delicacies. We look forward to harvesting our sunflowers every year. Now with the seeds, we wash them well then soak them in salt water over night. Then we bake them on a low heat. We roast our squash and pumpkin seeds like this as well. I’ve seen the videos of people cooking the entire sunflower head and just eating it. That in my opinion is just gross. Save and roast the seeds, trim off the flower heads and fry them up. I think you all will really like them like this.
@@FavoredAcreHomestead They look ready to me. As long as the seeds are fully developed they’re ready. I would cut them off, take them inside and scrape those seeds off into a paper bag or somewhere they can dry, or soak them and bake them right away. You’ll want to save some back for planting though. Then after you get the seeds out you can eat the flower heads.
Two things: Be careful when you harvest HOT peppers WITHOUT gloves, don't rub your eyes. And (I love Sunflower seeds by the way! 😀) But they are said to be 'Allelopathic' meaning they can prohibit the growth of other BROAD LEAF veggies that are planted near them, though many gardeners are said to have had _little problems with them._ You can get _volunteer_ plants if you leave them alone but just like any other 'seeding' fruit, you can SAVE SEED from them as well.
Hello ma'am I just want to say that you are really beautiful, you look like Carol Danvers who played Captain Marvel, and your garden is really beautiful, refreshing to the eyes and your smile is very attractive
Cut the flower head off, let it dry it on the porch and take the seeds off the heads, then if you want to soak in salt water and roast them. Depending on the variety of sweet potato they will go 90-120 days.
