Such a good series so far. I'm at book 4. The thing about longer series is the long, slow burn and character growth/development along the way. Worth it.
I started wheel of time last week for the first time, and I'm loving eye of the world right now!! omg this is so good, and I can't wait for what's coming next
I get why people don’t like the Wheel of Time, but for some reason, even though I notice the issues and they do actually bother me, I tend to forgive it for most of its flaws. I think it’s mostly because of the tone, the world, and the sense of the sublime that comes through at certain moments. If you don’t focus too much on the negative aspects, there are those Tolkien-esque moments that really draw the reader in. I’m only on book 7 and have half the series to go, but so far I like it and am always looking forward to continuing the series by the time I finish each book. We’ll see how I feel by the end, but based on testimony from the people who liked the series, I think I’ll be in the same boat.
personally i like book 5 better than 4 :] the genesis of the band of the red hand is great. and on re-reads, after knowing how talmanes is personality wise, seeing the way he first acts with mat after the battle at cairhien is great. talmanes is one of my fav characters in the series and im so happy tht sanderson gave him a nice spotlight in the prologue to AMoL
Don’t really get the love for book 1 and 2. Books 3 n 4 e do a lot more to justify the series imo, than the LOTR knock off of the first book and the overextended jaunt that doesn’t do much to move the plot forward.
@@sombracep12 I just finished Re listening to the Great Hunt- and I agree it begins to create an unique identity for them series. (Spoilers) My main issue with it is the plot relative to the greater story. The horn, while important in the last book- pretty much disappears from the story until then- when it is revealed one of the main tensions (the shadow being able to summon the heroes) was imagined. Whereas seemingly series changing events, such as the Thom murdering the king of Caihiren or Moraine rediscovering balefire* are given barely passing mention- if at all. * I don’t believe Moraine learning balefire is mentioned in the book itself; but is mentioned in the next book, as something she learned during the Horn’s events. I do agree 2 does set the world and establishes itself as more than lotr knockoff; but I think it’s still pretty clear he didn’t know where he was going with the series.
I did not like book one. I loved book 2. Then I really loved book 4. I appreciated book 3. Book 4 and book 2 made me finish the series chasing that high that was only scratched again by books 11-13. Wheel of time is pretty good but it is very overrated and is not for everyone. Not by a longshot. If you have not read epic fantasy before. I would recommend it so that you still have better epic fantasy series to read in the future... Like Stormlight archive
The Great Hunt has no bad bits so if you aren't about that, then kindly acknowledge the series' impact, respectfully admit it's not your cup of tea, then quietly fudge off 😂
I’ve read the entire series fully through twice! There are some major issues with it unfortunately and a lot of the s3xism does not age well and is what I think they tried to correct in the show and yet failed terribly because they altered the core of the magic system too. That being said I felt like I knew these characters and they were comforting to me and I believe always will be. It’s super troupe but it’s also ahead of its time by far.
@@IamVendelthere’s this new thing that a certain demographic of readers are doing, which is pretending that a book’s depictions are advocating for those depictions in real life. Or they reach as far as they can to find something that isn’t there. They’re basically addicted to canceling things and can’t help but see everything as sexism, racism, bigotry, etc. it’s quite sad.
I read all 14 im sorry, worst series (for me) ever written. But im a malazan and robin hobb and gentlemen bastards kinda guy 🤷♀️ and red rising and 5 warrior angels and dresden files and gene wolf, okay i like all fantasy that isnt jordan or sarah j maas 😅😅😅
