In need of quality boot repair services? Who better than Nicks Boots to repair them, as we are also one of the finest bootmakers that footwear can be purchased from. In addition to crafting handmade boots, we also offer repair services to our customers.
Most leather boot repair services are of two varieties, beyond minor things such as replacing laces, the odd eyelet, or leather conditioning to restore the hide to a supple condition.
First is a boot resole. Should this be needed, we will remove the old soles and install new ones. This will keep your boot functioning as it should, with good traction and the arch support you need to do your job.
Second is to rebuild boots. This process is more involved, as everything but the uppers are removed and new boot components installed. For this, we can only give you a price estimate as every rebuild is different.
In either case, boot repair services by Nicks Boots will have your boots practically feeling like new for years to come.
We are USA-owned and operated, valuing the livelihoods of our workers as well as the quality of our boots. If you're looking for the toughest work boots on the market, you've finally come to the right place.

Good video. If you record another resole/rebuild vid maybe show some customer boots that came in for a resole or rebuild and evaluate them. Especially if you disagreed that some boots didn't need a rebuild or those that can't be resoled and those that are too far gone. I realized you covered some of that in this vid but seeing more examples helps.

So with that boot that was WAY pronated out over the stitch line, before rebuilding would you suggest to the customer perhaps going for a wider wideth, or maybe going with the munson last for a better fit?

So I got life left on on my lug soles and so when I send them to get resoled I wonder if it's possible to request a thinner midsole like the Maxwells or maybe they can shave down the midsole for better flexibility in the ball/vamp area. I love my overlanders but that thick midsole is so hard to break in. Honestly that's my only gripe. Maybe someone has already requested this alternative option. Let me know guys. Thanks. Nicks are awesome!!

See I need new heels but my soles are ok and I kinda like them thinner makes the boots a little lighter and I don’t need a ton of traction inside the weld shop but haven’t decided on shipping the boots across the country or seeing if a local cobbler could do it without messing them up
@Muscovy7
@Muscovy7 6 месяцев назад
Heels are by far the easiest thing to fix/replace. If the cobbler can’t do it right then they have no business being a cobbler. Personally I’d just get that locally done and only send them in for a full resole or rebuild. Lots of even good cobblers hate stitchdown resoles.
@WolfMimirMori
@WolfMimirMori 6 месяцев назад
What @Muscovy7 said, heels are by far the easiest to replace and any cobbler worth anything at all will have relevant heels in-house or to-order. Now the sole itself is something MOST cobblers will refuse to work with if you'd want them stitched again, as most don't have machines capable of doing it and even then it requires a LOT of hard work. Remember one UK cobbler that resoled a pair of PWN and he commented that it was a lot of work due to the raw thickness of leather midsole+rubber midsole+sole.

It's interesting to get this information now... Im looking at the pair I had purchased from Nicks new in 22' and whoever built them put the stitches on top of each other AND they are sanded down all the way to the threads. So was I sold a set of boots that by definition has less rebuild-ability from new, because of workmanship?
@WolfMimirMori
@WolfMimirMori 6 месяцев назад
The stich over each other does not make much of a difference, nor does it effect the re-buildability as the vamp gets replaced when you do that (thus all the stitched are replaced as well.) But yes, if it is sanded close to the edge of the stitching then the RESOLE might be lowered to one or two less, it's extremely hard to say without seeing an actual picture of the boot.
@Allinoffroad

The sole is the weak point of all these boots, the soles wear out so fast and the boot is fine but they can only be resoled 1 time . I’ve had a local person just glue on soles because I didn’t have the sole sewn on ! I would suggest this because if you walk a lot in your boots the soles will be gone long long before the boots need a real rebuild
@StayFoul
@StayFoul 6 месяцев назад
@@WolfMimirMori Yeah, its sanded up to the point where the thickness of the thread almost hangs over the top edge.
@WolfMimirMori
@WolfMimirMori 6 месяцев назад
@@StayFoul If so then you got a pair that failed the QC for whatever reason, it might be to late but I suggest you contact Nicks about the issue. The thread should never be on the border of going over the edge unless you REALLY pushed for one final resole, and since yours never have been, not acceptable.
@WolfMimirMori
@WolfMimirMori 6 месяцев назад
@@Allinoffroad If you find yourself wearing the soles out very quickly due to very harsh use, then yes, simple glue on is far better/yields more resoles with normal cobblers. The stitching in that case only needs to hold onto the midsole. But for those that gets that 2-ish years out of their soles, they may need the stitches to keep it on depending on where they work. It's dependant on who and for what someone uses their pair of boots for.

Do I need a resole if the stitches are worn on a dainite sole? Or keep going until the glue fails?

I wear out my heels fast. Finally analyzed how i walk. I seriously heel strike because i like being noisy. My coworkers are so used to the heel strike they are never prepared when i sneak up on them. Sooooo fun to make them jump just by standing there.
@Allinoffroad
@Allinoffroad 6 месяцев назад
I would suggest when ordering not having the soles stitched on because they will wear out long long before the boot itself needs any real work and if it’s stiched through the sole they can only do it once and it looks weird with the stitching around the boot , then you can just have a cobbler rip of the sole and glue another on and get the true life out of these insanely well made boots

Ummm, I can't say that i agree with your "no stitching" theory. If sole stitching was a bad thing that compromised the quality, integrity or lifetime of the boot in any way then why is it that all the different manufacturers of high quality boots from all around the globe are still using stitching for their boot soles? Maybe possibly I'm wrong? Nah, probably not.....
@Allinoffroad
@Allinoffroad 3 месяца назад
@@CaptainContraption Please read again I’m not saying it not good for structure or quality in any way I’m saying it makes a re-sole only work once before they need a “rebuild” even though the boot will more likely then not be totally fine. The weak point in these boots is the soles they don’t last nearly long enough . I have 4 pairs of nicks and yes I know I use the honey vibrams but they only last 9-10 months tops and then they need to be replaced and by stitching them that’s only one time before the boot has to be completely rebuilt .
@averyj.steele1074
@averyj.steele1074 3 месяца назад
@@Allinoffroad If you are only getting 1 resole out of your Nicks then you are thrashing the hell out of them. It isn't just the weak point in "these" boots, it's ANY boot, maybe don't buy the honey Vibram? I mean please. This is silly at best.
