@@mikecantreed As a beginner I wouldn’t know. Maybe I misunderstood GM Danya’s point starting at about 1:11 to 1:26. One guess from a previous video in this series highlighting the opponent needing to know or figure stuff out is playing the Smith-Morra or Alapin (depending on black taking on c3) against the Sicilian. One guess for the different kind of game would be playing the Pirc against an e4 Ruy Lopez or Italian (both being more “open” “tactical” “occupy the center” approaches while the Pirc is not if I understand correctly). But please don’t trust my understanding of what GM Danya said or my guesses at examples!

@@mikecantreed There's a free course on Chessable for Agadmator's anti London system that this reminds me of. The general idea is to go 1.d4 Nf6, 2.Bf4 c5, 3. ... Qb6, playing extremely aggressively to target the white b2 pawn. The point being that most people playing the London are doing so to be able to play the same first 6 developing moves every game, and this can actually disrupt that while being *almost* reputable.

@@ColdAzIce188 That general idea makes sense to me given the nature of the opening, where the London player is likely to arrive at very similar positions in the middlegame and be familiar with them.

It looks very similar to the Fantasy, but I guess you play Nc3 before f3? I would probably play one of those gambits if I didn't score so well with the Maroczy Variation (1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.Nd2 de 4.Ne4 Bf5 5.Ng3 Bg6 6.f4).

@@SaintD382 indeed nc3 first 1.e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 dxe4 4. f3. 90% plays on 3. dxe4 after nc3 is played and if they take 4. exf3 5. then Nxf3. And if they dont take fxe4 then you have a exchanged fantasy more or less.

@@nonyornats6218 many players do looking at the database, just as much as the necessary Nf6. Even at 2200+ level it's very common. I think 2. c4 is a tricky attempt in blitz, though I don't play it myself

@@Mathijs_A my database has 3300 of Nf6 and 206 of Qxd5. 2. c4 is a legit try versus the Caro, but you shouldn’t bank on Qxd5 at any decent level

@@nonyornats6218 you're probably looking at classical games. This person specifically said blitz. You shouldn't just prepare for Qxd5 ofc, but can trick a lot of people into playing it
