6 reasons for selling a stock 1. Financial urgency like medical emergency 2. Purpose is achieved. E.g. Invested for children's higher education 15 years ago. Now at the age of 18 money is required for children's higher education. 3. Business moat is gone like IEX due to coupling issue. 4. U purchased stock because of good management..Now management is changed & is not so competent 5. U invested in a company when it was young. Now company has become very matured and there is less.growth opportunity. 6. Holding a loss making for a long time also destroys wealth. We should exit such company and invest the balancing amount in other growth company.

Another Excellent video for longterm investors. Sahil has very nicely explained the exit strategy for longterm investors in various situations balancing the greed and fear . Here investors also need to keep in mind the cyclical behavior of sectors where investors should exit completely from the sector/stock in upmove in staggered way. For example packaging / paper/metal stocks in 2022 and now in 2023 -24 pipes ( oil and water) / infra etc . Such sectors one can re-enter after deep correction to prepare for the next cycle. upmove.

I think what is building (bloating) the market right now, is the anticipated eventual lowering of interest rates. When fed starts cutting rates, and when we can no longer find safe harbor in 5%+ rates, investors are going to rush back into the stock market. Very true, people downplay advisors role, until burnt by their mistakes. I invested in Newgen it fell but I kept on averaging slowly slowly. Now I'm in more than 50% profit. Same in ICIGI, Bajaj finance & Cams. Still in loss in Aarti ind, Dmart, Divis labs, IEX, IPL, Alkyl amines, Rossari biotech & Vaibhav global. Thinking of selling IEX, IPL & vaibhav global.
