Bless you, Katie, for addressing this issue. We need to share this critical information with women, so they can look at this for themselves. I’m glad you have a wonderful doctor. So many are reluctant to discuss this with their patients. We need to educate and advocate for ourselves.
The way I see it is that the menopause is a hormone deficiency, they should be replaced as long as we have a deficiency. That will be till the day we die. I mean they are not taking me of thyroxine after 5 years now are they.
I’m 66, been on transdermal estradiol for 15 years, and prometrium progesterone. I’ve had periodic ultrasound, and bloodwork 4x year. All is well. I am however going to wean off this year. I’ve been on lowest dose .025 for 5 years, and since age 65, I’ve cut the .025 patch in half. My female GYNO said the research doesn’t show benefit after age 66. My facial skin still looks good, and I feel normal down south! 🙂👍
There may not be a benefit, but if there’s no downside I think I’d consider staying on it. Having said that, it’s of course up to the individual to decide. Best wishes!
@@valleygirl670 no, I really don’t; I never had bad flashes like what you hear about with some people being so uncomfortable. I had very mild warmish feelings, but I chose to go with bioidenticals, and I think I avoided a lot of the really bad symptoms as a result. I did just have my annual appointment again, and I have decided to keep going; my doctor said there isn’t really any indication at this point that I would have an issue.
I'm going through menopause at age 43. My doctor didn't want to put me on HRT even though I brought up the fact I found out I had osteopenia at age 38.
Crazy find yourself a different doc. I had my menapouse 43 also and im going to fontional obgyn and i just started to taking estrogen extarnal cream and progesteron from vg everday
I'm the same age, and today I go see my Dr about this, and if he refuses I'm going to be so upset. Cause it's affecting my ability to provide for my family. I stopped sleeping, I hurt everywhere, and I have had to leave work for how horrible I feel.
Hi i started HRT at age 68 i have be using them for two years i will take them till the day i die We have these hormones . Naturally And if estrogen made cancer then all the pregnant women would die isn't that when estrogen is the highest when we are pregnant
Hi Dr, hope you are fine and well. I'm 39yrs and I had Bso, hysterectomy, Appendectomy and omentectomy in Dec 2022 for high grade serous cyst adenocarcinoma both ovaries but my Dr didn't prescribe any HRT. I'm obese with 26bmi,hot flushes, increase sweating, palpitations and occasionally high blood pressure. Please advise what should I do. Regards
I'm 52 and 2 years into menopause. My gyno just prescribed the transdermal bioidentical estradiol patch (0.05 once a week rather than twice weekly) and oral micronized progesterone (100mg caps). He said bloodwork wasn't necessary and he can make adjustments based on how I feel. I know other women who have gone to hormone specialists who prescribe compounded HRT and they do bloodwork first to check their baseline (even though I've read that hormones fluctuate throughout the day). Should bloodwork be done first or is my gyno correct?
Blood work isn’t really “necessary” but for curiosity sake you can have it done just to see your levels, but really you’re going by symptoms. And it’s different for everyone, your levels could be labeled “normal” but you feel like crap, so you may need a higher dose, etc.
How do we know our estrogen and pro levels and the right amount to take without going to the doctor office. Can it be done online by buying a test online or something? Im in late 30s, just wanted to prepare.
Have you checked MIDI health? Virtual visits and accepting some insurance. I’m seeing my GYN on Monday but this is my back up plan in case she’s not too menopause friendly. Good luck!
@@PatriciaPearl111 I agree! I had an obgyn that never even heard of bio-identical hormones and another that said it gives you ovarian cancer. I bet she was talking about the synthetic kind.
They also dehydrate the mares do their urine is more concentrated. The colts are sent to get fattened up then sent to the meat market as is the mares that can no longer be of use. I wish it wasn’t true as I love horses. Wyeth is big pharma….
I'm 65 and 15 years out from my last period, also never had HRT during menopause. I'm January I was put on Estradiol .25 twice a week inserted vaginally. This was after my pelvic exam, nothing wrong, but she said it was for my vaginal health. I brought up my concerns over the risk of developing breast cancer and she assured me the dose and being taken vaginally would not cause breast cancer. You just spoke of the uterine and ovarian cancer risks associated with hormones this far after menopause, should I continue with this medication or have another conversation with my OBGYN?
I’m a few years younger, but exactly where you’re at,… I was only using Vagifem inserts for close to a year, due to atrophy in that area !! Since I ended my relationship, I chose to stop… I have since restarted this past week (nearing 59 young) and would also like to know if this would help with my advanced osteoporosis ??
I am not sure why this doctor did not discuss the estradiol transdermal patch which is pretty safe for women after 60. It does not cause clotting, the stroke risks are very low and it helps to rebuild bone.
Side effects : headaches breast pain or tenderness unexpected vaginal bleeding or spotting feeling sick (nausea) mood changes, including low mood or depression leg cramps mild rash or itching diarrhea hair loss No thank you. Fruits, veggies, no meat, no eggs, multivitamin, sun and exercise for me.
@@lori4732 "Conventional HRT is manufactured by pharmaceutical companies. This kind of HRT is made from a blend of hormones extracted from pregnant horses’ urine and made synthetically in a laboratory. " LOL , no thank you.
@@CheekyLove hello to you… progesterone comes in many forms. Mine is from yams taken orally. What you refer to; the horse urine is terrible and it is a cream inserted internally. Bio identicals are not synthetic. Read Suzanne Sommers books; she is au natural and is all about BIO IDENTICALS
Do you know where your hormone med comes from??? You may want to find out. Pregnant horses (by rape) standing in stalls for hours so their urine can be caught? Do you know what happens to these poor abused horses and the babies they don't get to raise? To be fair you should include this info. They've been doing this in America since 1942.
Bioidentical hormones are lab-made hormones that are chemically similar to the hormones in your body. They’re made from a plant steroid found in soy and wild yams.
@@earthrider700 Yes. Hormones derived from horse urine were once used. I believe they are no longer used, but maybe your research or experience differs. Perhaps it is still, but that’s not what my research revealed. The hormone in the estrogen patch I use is beta-estradiol, derived from yams. It’s bioidentical to the estrogen it’s replacing now that I’m perimenopausal.
@@lizherbst7393 I'm sorry but yes this is still happening. However, there are plant alternatives. I know people who adopt the babies from these horror hormone farms.
Osteoporosis will do that! If you mean RE the horses, it’s a disgusting industry and we have better, safer alternatives. Caring about animals is something no one needs a break from.
