WHEN TO TRANSFER AND WHEN TO QUIT TEACHING | Teacher Talk | Being A Teacher.
As the end of the school year approaches, it's the season of contracts, resumes, promotions, transfers, retiring, or just plain quitting. This is a time for teachers to reflect on their careers, what worked, what didn't work, and what we want from being a teacher. The biggest questions many of us have are, should we transfer or quit teaching, and how do we know which of those choices is right for us? The truth is, we can never completely know, but if we keep a few important things in mind, I think it makes our decisions much clearer. This week, I'm talking about transferring or quitting the teacher life, and I hope you join us in the Comments for this important conversation. As always, be a part of our growing community by Liking, Subscribing, and hitting the Notification Bell so we can come together every week. Do all you can to stay Fit 2 Teach. Be well!

Will you be transferring to a different school this next school year, or will you be leaving the world of education?

I love your channel. I find out in a week and a half whether or not I got accepted into the teacher residency programs I applied to. Congratulations on your new adventure in the world of teaching!

I just got a contract extension for the next school year in my district. I don’t mind working in my district, but I am wanting to leave the classroom and be more of a support role, something in Special Education like an ARD Facilitator, or dyslexia teacher, etc, something totally different than lesson planning for x amount of students and having a classroom of specific number of students I teach and give grades to. Having a specialized area of teaching where I use a specific program and follow this research based program to help students with learning disabilities. We have until May 8 to sign our contracts. What if I sign my contract and receive an offer in another district by mid-May in the position I want. Can my current district refuse to release me with good reason?
