When to use VRF Heat Pump vs Heat Recovery 

There are many factors that go into selecting a VRF unit. You're asking for a heat recovery unit which would indicate that the home is very large. Large enough to benefit from diversity. We're assuming you have a balanced load between heating and cooling and that you require heating and cooling simultaneously. Most often a heat pump will work for a residential single family home where you'll be using either the heating mode or cooling mode, but not needing both simultaneously. The location is important when selecting a VRF unit as you want to make sure the heating capacity will satisfy any extremes where its located. To recommend a model number we would need a lot more information starting with the size of the unit. The selection is best determined by a local contractor or engineer. We usually don't provide recommendations, but provide information that allows you to make an informed decision.

@@VRFWizard the home it’s not that large (but highly efficient) actually 2500sqft. Two story super insulated, r40 walls R60 roof, insulated interior walls and ceiling. R 30 under slab. Regular calculations don’t really apply. I am. @@ekie85 If you want to change to a Heat Recovery System, you'll need to have the system redesigned as you'll need the Selector Boxes installed between the Outdoor and Indoor Units.
