I remember how immersive it was having guns rust and jam, that the maps were handheld and not a pause menu. Even taking pills felt realistic. FC2 was the most grounded game I've ever played by Ubi.
I might have to give it another shot with the mods. Had a copy for 360 I would pop in every couple of years to play 20 or so hours then put it back down for something new after I got frustrated by shit like the outpost respawns. Love the game at its core, though! Nothing has ever really matched the truly gritty mercenary vibes this game had in spades, plus I actually ENJOYED the malaria mechanic as it gave you a true sense of urgency in a way many games struggle with. Plus, the plethora of backgrounds for the mercs was always super appealing to me as a budding world builder back then. Glad I clicked on this one!
Honestly mods just fixed the game for me. Weapon accuracy is still dogshit, and damage to enemies is hit or miss with some dropping fine and others tanking headshots like anything but overall it’s a way more solid experience. Glad you enjoyed the video man, hope you have a good day
This is the kind of game i know has a good "core" but i would have to mod the living hell out of it to actually enjoy it. i would end up modding it for hours and hours and completely forgetting to actually play it, cuz i would just be too busy hoping in and out of the game while tweaking .ini files to make it look as good as possible 🤣
Eh honestly the redux + realism thing does a good enough job. Tried looking around for more damage modifiers but didn’t have the effort to look that deep
