In the books, Daemon urged Rhaenyra to give proper reward of lands, titles, and power to Hugh and Ulf. She reneged, and opted to knight them instead. That was a huge mistake in her part. Daemon knew it was over for Rhaenyra and opted a glorious death.
Those clutches would have been of no use, even after the dance there were many dragon eggs and one fertile dragon. Still the dragon that was born was smaller than a dog. Dragons grew smaller and smaller and smaller in each generation as there was no blood magic performed by targs. Dannys dragons born only because of blood magic, thats what u need to make sure your dragons thrive.
This is the reason why the original Targaryen settlers in Westeros married each other coz of situations like this. Family betray each other how much more to those who are bastards.

She is also the only non targaryen or valyrian to ever ride a dragon and the only black dragonrider in the books she has an affair with Daemon Targaryen and rhaenyra tries to have her killed despite her loyal service and bravery. This betrayal will happen because of rhaenyra, daemon tells her in the books give lordship and land to ulf and hammer, she refuses, only knight hood she promises them . Then the greens offer them what rhaenyra refuses.
All 3 dragons died in the same battle. Driven by greed, Hugh Hammer turned on the blacks, and also, the greens, when he decided to make a grab for the throne. He got killed in an early morning attack, and a riderless Vermithor decided to join the fight bergen tessarion and seasmoke. All died in the skies and fell down dead
i actually think hes struggling with this now. There is NO way where an ending is good without a happy ending for the Starks. He's probably off trying to stop that from happening. It's kinda eshausting. Like, I get it, action have consequences, heroes might die. But not always. Ffs
They had no loyalty in the first place. They were bastards and were not even acknowledged growing up so you can’t expect loyalties from them. It’s a great mistake using them without proper incentives. Turning them knights with no lands and properties is nothing for people with questionable loyalties
Vermithor bonded with Ulf and so they are. linked and the dragon will follow the rider's will and also Rhaenyra promised Ulf and one other dragon seed lands, titles and she reneged on that promise and knighted them instead and that was when they backstabbed her due to her not keeping a promise and Daemon knew that signaled her end.

Even after Rooksrest the blacks still had the advantage against the greens and an even greater one after Aegons injury. She had more dragons, she had Daemon at Harrenhall, and Aegons absence would hurt the greens politically now. She had no reason to give out nukes to abunch of bastards that had no real loyalty towards her. She should've been more selective, especially when it came to Vermithor, who was the only real answer for Vaghar. Those dragons were more useful riderless to Raenyra than in the hands of bastards. The only realistic way for the greens to get more dragons during the war was to already win the war and take over dragonstone. Raenyra had victory in the bag but she basically gave the greens what they needed to win.

He even threatens to beat up Addam of Hull when he mocked him. None of Rhaenyras children liked him. The turning made more sense in the books becausecu could see it.
Yeah but I don’t think things are going to play out exactly the way they did in the books on House of the Dragon. We have to consider that they always change things, one big glaring example recently is the complete omission of the character Nettles, and transferring her storyline of bonding with the wild dragon Sheepstealer to Rhaena instead. Also, people are complaining about how Joffrey apparently spoiled the ending of HoTD in his conversation with Margery in season 3 of GoT, but again, you must remember that this is simply oral history that was passed on to him, there’s no way to know for sure if he got the story right in the first place. I really think the writers of HoTD have really taken these things into consideration and will adjust accordingly. They’re always going to subvert fan expectations, otherwise, why make the show at all in the first place if it’s going to just be a beat by beat retelling of the book?

They have children, even if Daemon was selfish the whole point of getting the throne is to further your cement your bloodline. Daemon isn’t going to betray Rhaenyra because that would be betraying his children. And Daemon will ultimately kill Aemond FOR Rhaenyra. You can’t rule over a land of ashes, so no Rhaenyra trying to avoid using her dragons isn’t stupid. Now her going to Kings Landing unprotected and alone is questionable but she’s trying to avoid having the whole seven kingdoms burn and then call her a second Maegor the cruel. With that many dragons it would take decades for the kingdoms to recover if she just burnt everything. And she might have a lot of dragons but Aemond has Vhagar. She’s trying to not get her remaining children killed. She also has a bigger picture, The Song Of Ice & Fire. You’re forgetting KEY points

Rhaenyra didn't match the offer of the greens. For no good reason. Daemon knew the war was lost at that point. Rhaenyra was too much of a mother and not enough of a queen and vice versa for the greens. With those two women in power it was over as soon as it began.....
Keep in mind everyone: -every spoiler you hear for the house of the dragon is information from the book BUT -the book is written as if it is a historical account recorded by a maester of Westeros during this time. Because of this, the information in the book might not be an accurate representation of the events as they actually happened, but rather how they were remembered. GRRM already went on record to explain that things are different in the show because it is what ACTUALLY happened, not how history remembered it. So whenever you hear a spoiler from the book just remember that there may be much more to it than that.

The book version of that fight made her look way more badass. But it also had Aegon and Aemond cooperating on the ambush instead of Aegon mucking it up. But I understand they changed it to keep the tension between the two brothers. I’m hoping we get to see the hour of the wolf and all that good stuff too.

Too big to change because how else will u get rid of Vermithor, Tessarion, silverwings rider and seasmoke. It sucks but it serves a purpose. If they change that then the whole story is fucked. You might aswell just crown Rhaenyra because its a fanfic at that point.
Well at the bright side their betrayal meant the extinction of Dragons. Both the lords and commoners no longer had to be held hostage by fire-breathing beasts. Westeros was better off without dragons, as targaryens can no longer destroy land wherever they get angry.
I agree with you. The end of the dragons was the best thing that happened in a long time. Flying Flamethrowers and All Seeing Tree Wizards are no basis for a functional and just government. It's why this world has been stuck in the Dark Ages for so long. Say what you would about us Earthlings, we managed to develop pretty fast compared to those backwards primitives. Imagine being stuck in the Dark Age for 9000 years lol. Like kill those dragons and greenseers, implement Magna Carta, develop a booming Middle Class to check the power of the Turbulent Lords and Kings, Adopt the Fundamental Rights of Man, open up Trade between and inside nations and hey presto in a couple hundred years most everyone be flying around in a swanky airplane instead of shitting in a hole and dying of dysentery. Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Targaryen and company are not the sort of people any sensible modern person should be looking up to. Of course these entitled modern morons do because they never had to bleed for freedom or live in a world where if your father was a farmer, you and you children are destined to be farmers without the least chance for upward mobility and you can forget about your wishes and aspirations. When they watch GOT and HOTD they may be pleased to think of themselves as having much in common with the nobles, but most of us are peasants and have been descended from peasants and we should be against this entire system in Westeros. I thought the same, read the book and in the show he seems more loyal and just more. I think it will come down to something like his wife is held as a hostage or something off the sort for him to turn. Ulf, aye can see him turning but Hugh it seems would take more than declaring himself king (from the show anyway)

You're all forgetting it was a 2 v 1 tessarion the blue queen (dareons dragons) joined in, both got messed up by Vermithor who rips seasmokes head clean off and tries to fly away with it but his wings are too burnt and damaged crashes down from height already wounded and then dies so no don't think Seasmoke killed him but he did contribute towards damaging Vermithor.

All the Targaryen history convinced me they were never worth to rule the 7 kingdoms. The only one who is clean and never likely would want anything to do with a crown again is Jon Snow (like being king of the North was cool and all of that, but it was a heavy burden at the end). Vermithor didn’t turn against them. Hugh Hammer did. The dragon is loyal to its rider. Look at Caraxes and Vhagar. It’s not that Vhagar turned against Caraxes but she was loyal to his new rider
By the end of the war, rhenyera’s was betrayed by almost everybody who was not her sons. Colrys betrayed her when she imprisoned his heir, daemon betrayed her in all but name (his last sentence regarding her is him calling her whore queen), two dragon seeds betrayed her, starks and arryns both sent small armies to fight for her and once they died, didn’t sent any more forces as backup, tullys joined the war way too late while Blackwoods and freys were fighting continuously for her, sir Alfred (the guy who she sent to talk to daemon in episode 5) betrayed her, killed her grandmaester, nearly killed her step daughter baela (had to be stopped from doing so by his own new allies who saw her as a valuable prisoner), killed her remaining kings guards, took her prisoner and handed her over to aegon for punishment
No in the end it was Rhaenyra who f*cked up for she promised lands and titles to both Hugh and another dragon seed and she reneged on that promised and knighted them instead. It was due to Rhaenyra breaking a promise that lead to the betrayal and I'm sick and tried of people making excuses for both Rhaenyra and Aegon II for none of them are fit to rule.
Sheepstealer isn't involved in this battle, Silverwing doesn't get involved and instead flies around overhead when Vermithor, Seasmoke and Tessarion fight, Vermithor damages both badly but also get badly damaged but rips off Seasmokes head and tries to fly off with it but his wings are tattered so falls from mid flight and dies, Tessarion is so badly wounded and blinded that crossbowmen but her out of her misery on the ground while she shrieks in pain.
It wouldn’t make sense in the show because they show that ulf and hammer how the greens ruined them and took everything from them so why would they turned and go to the greens makes no sense

In the books, it's explained that thousands of years before aegon. The dragon lords of old infused their dragons with blood magic. Made them bigger and made some sorta bond. This typically only exists now with Targaryn and velaryon bloodlines. So some do technically have the blood of the dragon. Explains why some of their babes are born with scales and tails
