I think that this is less of a trait acquired by training, but a natural trait. Some people just have naturally lower voices than others.

People also don't know anything about technical singing and will automatically go "Adele is better" or "Demi is screaming" when it's practically the opposite. (Not the screaming part, it's called belting. Only the best can do it.)
