@@aneeskemal4431England invented T20 s much like they invented cricket. IPL simply monetized it the best. It was the obvious progression - ODI takes all day, Tests take 5 freaking days - next generations would have never taken it up. Cricket would have been dead within 50-70 years if not for T20s
England West Indies rivalry is so underrated. I think England is only the team which helps West Indies realise its potential by playing 5 or 6 test match series even during their decline. I never saw that kind of gesture from Australia or South Africa or any sub continent teams
The love for cricket has died in the Caribbean today. Even when the West indies play at home the stadiums are empty, even for the World T20 this year. Sad decline and I don't think the love for cricket will ever come back in those parts
Beautiful 1998. Back when every close ODI finish was played and celebrated like a cup final. The first time white ball ODIs were played in the Caribbean in front of the passionate crowd who packed the stadiums everyday of every test and ODI.
This was not a great WI side..this was a side that was going downhill..they were highly inconsistent..the only consistency this side got was from ambrose, walsh and chanderpaul.. everyone else especially Lara were extreemely inconsistent.. but they did provide some great entertaining games from time to time
@@saurabhsuman2929 Yes he was very inconsistent between 1997 to 2000..under his captaincy west indies lost the series against south africa 5-0 and he batted very poorly throughout the series. He was put on notice by the west indian selection committee and he was appointed as the captain only for the first 2 matches of the 4 test series against Australia..he even took a 6 montj break in 1998 to get away from the game..he even contemplated retirement..Brian Lara is my favourite batsman ..iam stating facts ..iam not high on weeds ..you are very low on knowledge ..improve your cricketing knowledge..stop embarrassing yourself :)
Those day are golden days of cricket Nowadays India loses 50 over wc from Australia we forget this next day who will win Same India won t20 wc we forget the next day who will win... But match that play in 1900 to 2006 was still in memory
Bro, If we ( Indians 🇮🇳) were weak we could have not win the ‘83 world cup. We were and are the world champions. You must have seen yesterday’s match. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 @Wowlife603
A couple of years after winning the 1983 World Cup, India won the Benson and Hedges World Series Cup in Australia, with all test playing nations as participants. If I recall, this was a one off tournament held to celebrate 200 years of establishing Australia as a country.
If in '1983' Indians came better off than defending champions West Indians, to become world champions, you can't take credit away from them. At one point perhaps they were on the verge of being ousted from the race or faced a potential threat of such becoming the case and Kapil Dev hit 175 vs Zimbabwe, you shouldn't underestimate us Indians...
@@sauravbhambhani first understand the context and then talk. It is not about crediting or not crediting the Indian team. Leave the Indian team I am only talking about West Indies cricket who always have the habit of underperforming even having a gun side. In 1996 they have lost against Kenya. Even Kapil dev agreed the West Indian side were too good for the Indian side. First understand the context and talk
The advent of IPL and league cricket was the real downfall of Westindian cricket . Without a common nation holding them together , it was difficult for the WEstindian cricket board to lure and retain m top quality talent from different island nations , top cricketers preferred the lucrative league contracts to playing for westindies
When the Indian Cricket association reduced the sizes of boundaries to increase sixes and also to pander to countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, cricket died. Average cricket Six is 75m, average baseball home run is 120 m. They should have kept cricket as a defensive game and kept bowling on par with batting.
Gone are the days when you never knew what could happen until the final ball is delivered or until the final wicket is taken. Now it's just an Indian mafia ruling nd dictating the beautiful game.
So called India mafia didn’t ask the windies youth to take up NBA / football/ track and field over cricket . Stop blaming others and just hold the local administrators accountable!
@@janand444 If you can't see how things have changed in the last few years, I can't help you there. What tournament in the world schedules fixtures to fit the needs of one country? How can you not call it rigged? Just because you bring the highest revenue, it doesn't give you the right to violate / be bias towards one country. Remember how often countries like SL, Westindies, Pakistan use to have international tournaments all over the world giving them the exposure to challenge any team in big tournaments? What has happened to it now? It's just been replaced by your franchise cricket. It's just sad
@@premananth1949 how does scheduling impact teams performance ? India were playing another team that made it through the same schedule … I don’t agree with tv rights overriding the schedule but that in itself has got nothing to do with performance
@@premananth1949 That's not India's problem. You guys don't know to how to step up and adapt.to changing times and market, so you blame someone else. Suck it up..

Surely there's great talents across the Caribbean yet to be found out. Shamar Joseph is a prime example. However, it's the Selection board of the West Indies' narrow viewpoint that lets down West Indies cricket. Such as opting to use the players they have within the board, irrespective of poor performance. Instead they should be scouting around the franchise leagues and clubs within the Caribbean to find fresh and young talent, to actually give them an opportunity to play for the West Indies!!
As a team west indies cricket died after 1996 . Players like lara ,chanderpaul ,gayle etc kept viewers intrested once in a while but world lacked the same west indian team spirit and quality !
