How many people will catch that! I went from one movie and then over to the Cars tune from the movie fast Times at Ridgemont high. Thanks a lot for checking out the video.😎
Rusty, you sound really great. It's inspiring because it exemplifies the fantastic results one can get by consistently putting in the time and energy. Appreciate the excellent teaching too.
Hey Alfred, i’m so glad to read your comment. I know when I watch a lesson video and I get instant results. I’m very excited about it! It makes me wanna run and pick up my guitar. Thanks for this kind message and enjoy your weekend.👍
Rusty, thanks for going over the setup. Lessons just at the right level to push me. I'm a little bit of a beginner. Keep it coming, we are out here playing in Southern Florida.
Thank Thank you. I am finding time to practice now. Thanks for sharing your experience in a way I understand on the rewindable RU-vid media. Thanks again. I still have a blown in guitar tuner. I like the new way much better. Jimbo. 😊
Yes thanks very important to have something ready to play if someone wants to hear you play. When you do you can always tell people you play. I like learning pieces for solo guitar because I'm not a great singer, but if you can sing then all you need is to strum.
Love this video! No matter what your skill level, developing a repertoire is very important as nothing sucks more than being asked to play and drawing a total blank with having something cool to play. Especially if your friends are hyping you up! Always learning from you, Rusty!
Thanks! Rusty ❤. Hope you’re doing well. You lit me up a few inspiring weeks ago and I’m on fire 🔥 I appreciate all your hard work’ I hope others are showing gratitude with some tips . I’m FINALLY using guitar picks vs exclusively playing with my fingers only ‘ 🎸❤️👍☮️ stay healthy my friend’
Thanks so much Jon! it sounds like you’re having fun on that guitar! 🎸 a lot of great players just use their fingers and many others use pick and fingers. Good to hear from you and let’s keep rockin.👍
I appreciate you letting us in your mindset with this situation (what would Rusty do - haha). Anyway, these are great strategies. I’m going to use this & become more effective with the songs I do know.
Thanks Rusty for another useful lesson. My Father who is 90 is a hard one to impress. He still sees me as a kid even though I'm in my 60's. LOL. Recently I pushed the envelope and did something I never have done: playing and singing at the same time. To the simple "Blowing in the Wind, Bob Dylan." The chords by themselves and entire song are no problem on guitar. However, I struggled a bit this first time to keep the words in sync with the chords. But, I'll keep pushing myself. Have a nice day! Tim
Cool, Tim! We definitely need to keep pushing ourselves! I’m sure you sounded awesome singing and playing together! Thanks for taking the time to watch my videos. Talk to you soon.👍
If someone hands me an acoustic, I always play Bon Jovi, 'Wanted, Dead or Alive' Its simple, but has the wow factor. Funnily enough, I do tend to do 'Whole lotta love' if its electric. Great ideas from you, as usual, Rusty, Thanks so much.
Rusty, I couldn't agree more! Keep it simple, and lay the classics out there. That will always go over well, and leave people smiling. You know I admire your playing greatly, but I always am blown away by your tone. Just fantastic my friend! Very nice to see you friend!!! It's been a while! - Jay
It's a shame you don't live right down the road Rusty. My P and your strat look like they have about the same amount of mileage on them lol. Add a great drummer I have in mind, and it would be an awesome session. Thanks for your lessons. I can almost make my tele sound good now. God bless.
Great stuff, as usual, Rusty! Way to break it down! If someone were to follow Rusty's instruction, and actually practice that way, it wouldn't be long before they could play that stuff. You just have to practice, and then play with confidence. No kidding. It's do-able.
Wow! More Jimmy Page....you can't go wrong as far as I'm concerned! And AC/DC. Love this lesson. You're right..when it comes to playing something when asked, my head goes blank, but just a few like this sound so impressive. The tip for including a bass note/peddle tone certainly beefs up the solo! Thanks so much Rusty - you keep coming up with these great ideas & explained so well. Amazing!
Simple Minds did the theme song...hee hee. LOVE THE TOPIC! Funny how some people freeze up when asked to play. I have a few times years ago...have too many "standbys" now. Great video as usual Rusty!
The trick now Rusty...........take these cool lick/riff concepts and go back in time half a century or so with our guitar and truly impress folks!! Next up: Rusty's Time Machine!! Jim C.
Hey Jim, I would also go back in time to learn some of these concepts that I’m trying to teach now. Thanks for checking in! Have a rockin weekend, bro.😎
Means a lot Rusty when u Reply, thanks👍, my mom died a week ago! Have a hard time playing guitar at the moment...but i gues🤔 my blues vill sound better, meaning...if u havent lived the blues, u cant play the blues..🇸🇪
Its a good feeling after a small group of friends or whoever asks you to play and they love it, everyone always says "damn!.. i wish i learned to play.." And i always tell them, that its never too late until it is, and of course to check out Rusty's Guitar RU-vid Channel if they want to go from beginner to pro in a few videos... all they need is- -a guitar, -some form of amp even if its just with headphones into an amp sim pedal- as long as its a half decent tone to make it more enjoyable. -dont try too hard! All you need is a portion of each days strength focused into commitment of short but frequent lessons, practice and learn chords as you learn the songs you like which leads me to of course the most important of all- HAVE SOME FUN!! before long you will have enough chords and variations of those chord positions to make it easier to pick up more songs, and to remember to pay it forward. Sharing is caring and its the golden rule in action. God bless you Rusty, who is not at all Rusty but very competent. Praise the Lord ❤
Hey Bernard, I’ve had the guitar for quite a while. It’s just been sitting in the case. But I forgot how good it sounds. It’s very clear sounding. Thanks for checking out the video.👍
Yeah. the first song is not the theme from Breakfast Blub . It is living in stereo by The Cars. The song you tought it was is Simple Minds "Don't you forget about me", You should know before you teach,
This is soooooo easy for me! I am a riff lord from the depths of ..... my man cave. I can guitar riff women's panties off. Ask me to play entire songs... exit stage right!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey Jeff, I really meant simple as in not shredding up and down the fretboard. Just picking a tune that’s fun and comfortable for you to play. Thanks for checking out the video.👍
I’d classify simple as three/four chord songs that don’t change at all or much all the way through. This way you can play the whole song all the way through just in case. Keep it simple, learn the lyrics. I like Wicked Game, Zombie, What’s Up, Glycerine, Sweet Home Alabama in my emergency tool kit.
