I grew up in Vallejo, CA and I had so many friends from different backgrounds it was amazing. Our Mexican neighbors in Cali would give myself and my husband at the time Tamales and Tacos off the grill every time they partied lol They would also give out Corona and Budweiser. My kids also love d the Mexican corn and they always bought food from the Mexican vendor walking his food cart through our apartments. My best friend in the 6th grade was Mexican as well and she was so nice and always used to try to feed me and bring me to her house to chill with family 😂😂 I miss those days❤ God bless all that read this in Jesus name❤❤
@@virtueofabsolution7641what did ya say bro? I literally did not understood anythin you said , welp anyways , mexican gastronomy is way and i mean WAY superior than american
@@derekvillegas4003 Instead of my school having us bring actual lunches for a field trip they said "they prepare regular school food" for my class they instead gave us all lunchables in brown paper bags and that was it
I remember when my family used to pack me cultural food (I’m Korean) and I used to be embarrassed because I was different and begged my parents to pack me lunchables or something “normal”. Now I look back and see that they packed it because they loved me and wanted me to have healthy foods to eat.
What's funny is growing up, I feel like my school we begged kids from other cultures to share their food with us, like I didn't realize people experienced bullying for it because we with the crappy school whole wheat rolls and stringy pink chicken saw kids with amazing home cooked meals as kings
Seems like these days, kids are more exposed and now accepting of other culture’s foods. I brought in gimbap for my school lunch one time and everyone complained about the smell and one guy told me to “get rid of the sushi.” Early 2000’s 😪
@@mageofsymphonia yep. I was born in 1999 so I was a similar era in elementary school. My “friends” made me sit at a different table when I brought in some stuff that didn’t smell like pizza or burgers.
Nah, as a mexican and salvadorian, I find this to be relatable, because I’d always get packed my lunch box with some huevos rancheros sometimes from breakfast, or a torta. 😂😂😂
Me being the only Mexican in a Korean friend group is so much fun because I can say stuff in Spanish and I’ll have no idea what I’m saying or I’ll bring a bunch of Mexican food and they’ll think that I’m eating the most exotic crap ever when really my grandma just made all this🥲🤣💕✨
I grew up in a town that had a hispanic majority and was rich in the culture and history. So I grew up loving hispanic food and candies. To this day, I'm still addicted to anything tamarind flavored. One of the things I use to do was go to my friend Marco's house. Cause his mom made waaaay better food than my grandma did (I was raised by my grandparents). And sometimes they would give me left overs to bring to school with me for my school lunch. Was always 1000% better than anything from the school cafeteria or from my grandparents.
As a Mexican when I was little I went to an American school in Tucson and all my friends brought lunchables and that processed sh1t but me I brought caldo de pollo and quesadillas , tamales , tacos de carne asada , and all that stuff and my friends always asked me for a little bit of what I brought it was nice seeing them liking my country’s food 🥘 🌮 :)
I'm lucky I had a Mexican friend willing to talk about the different foods and tell me how they taste. He definitely helped build my repertoire of food
When I was in 2nd grade I made a friend because of the food he brought for lunch. I’m Hispanic btw. I saw his food and was like oh you got chilaquiles! 😂
I used to love seeing what the mexican moms packed their kids for lunches, honestly. Not that I disliked what I had, but my mom was a chef, so I always had an appreciation for food. xD It was always so neat to see the different cultures colliding.
im so glad i live in southern AZ where there's a mexican food place on just about every corner, and dont even get me started on the food trucks. damn i want some birria ramen now.
As a Mexican in middle school I felt this. My elementary didn’t have a microwave so I barely took lunch but my school has a microwave in the cafeteria so I got a huge upgrade and I started bringing food from home and everyone would be like “come on mannnn, sharing is caring.” I would be bringing stuff like taquitos, chicken fajita with bell peppers, frijoles charros, chicken or pork mole, tamales, etc.
If you do not know what the drink is, it’s practically a company who sells a bunch of fruit nectar, and it tastes like corn a big clump of goodness It has the juice it has the juice I can’t imagine a more beautiful thing.
Not Mexican, but my mother made some amazing lunches for me whenever I went on an away game or field trip. I'd open up my food, and everyone would be so jealous.
Bro that torts is relatable asf. When my mom makes tortas or cemitas in the morning, I plan out what I’m gonna watch while eating, in what room, and then pull out that cafe, and then the fruta picada with tajin on it after. Bro lunch be lit.
As a Mexican I can confirm this is very true every time I get money I buy mango jumex and my friends are like bro you buy that every time you get money why?
