@@randomname667 it's a blurry line about what is a skill vs what is a talent. talent is defined as an ability you are born with and can do without really thinking about it(e.g. being fast, extroverted, great hand-eye coordination, amazing voice, etc) skill is something that can be taught (e.g. the law, customer service, how to code) playing piano, or reallly any instrument falls into both categories. the talent part is the ability to learn to play the instrument both easier and more quickly than others, and the skill part is practicing and devleoping playing that instrument.

People are always surprised Billy Joel and Elton John have such short stubby fingers, but I’ve come to think that gives them more power, which helps with rock piano. I have long, slim fingers like this guy, and I find I lose leverage if I worry too much about “proper” curved-finger technique.

I've played piano for 11 years, and I can honestly say that the curviness of your fingers does not matter. As long as you keep your wrists up it's fine

Vladimir Horowitz, one of the greatest concert pianists of all time played with flat fingers. It's just his style I guess. As a piano major and teacher myself it's normal, I've seen a lot of different techniques and they're all valid unless they give you pain, or excessive tension. A lot of it can come down to the anatomy of the individual's hands.
