Pacific Rift is easily the best one. I looked into emulation, RPCS3 is actually able to emulate Pacific Rift decently now. Definitely not perfect but god damn I miss this series. It introduced me to my favourite band of all time (Clutch) and is just generally quite unique.
The Xmb-crossbar menu is still the most stylish/useful UI: the style is consistent: to the previews, the trophies the savedata or main menu. The UI is practical: Quick to navigate, mapped out understandably; simple to memorise. Stylised through practical, plus lots of personalisation options in the settings. The semi-transparent icons, the off-center placement shows the theme (plus they'll often change to match the new themes/settings): Perfection.
PS4 is alright too, but damn... PS5 sucks so hard. Maybe im getting too old for that shit, but what the f... is this? You have like one button to hold and then 5 buttons to press until you can write someone a message.
@@Lofirainbows submenus, oh yes... they're getting more and more, even in games... just compare Call of Duty 4 on PS3 with whatever is out now, its like you have to study for a year until you know where to find what you're looking for
I woke up right now, i was sleepy, i watched this at full volume, now i want to throw my phone away. Never thought that i would get scared by an xmb sound
I feel this I was trying to play the game when my family was asleep. I forgot to lower the TV's volume, and after inserting my disk, the whole famlily woke up, lmao
Bruh I still use my ps3 more than my ps5 for this reason, the ui is so unbelievably relaxing compared to the 4 and 5. It felt like a true evolution to how simple yet enjoyable the ps2 ui was to navigate
@@shawklan27 For me the PS5 was so unappealing (mostly the game catalogue/lack of exclusives) that it is the first PlayStation I didn’t buy. And I even got Vita and 1st gen VR. Even the PS4 mostly collects dust, there were already very few games in that system that I consider worthy of my time. PS3 much less so but still, I play it less than PS2 and PS1 games (now emulated).
This really made my night to know that this series is still remembered. My older brother and I loved this series from start to finish. The original MotorStorm was the very first PS3 game we ever played over a relative's house. We were instantly hooked! Once we had a PS3, this was one of the very first games we bought. And then proceeded to buy every single installment after that. Good times, I really miss classic arcade Racers like this. It's no wonder why the racing game genres is seen as dead tear some people because all there is now are Mario Kart ripoffs and endless driver simulators.
Reminds me of the Tools of Destruction XMB menu. All the rest of the PS3 Ratchet and Clank games either had no XMB music or just a calming little ambient melody. But then Tools of Destruction completely throws you off with a... DUN DUN! DUN DUN!
This made me go look for videos of all the old PS3 xmbs that I used to listen to. It was nostalgic AF and such a cool feature. I think the Assassin's Creed II one was probably my favorite.
i remember playing this game a lot in my playstation 3 it was called motor storm apocalipse it was very fun and i can confirm sometimes the xmb of the games jumpscares you sometimes lol
