for me its not the outfit that messes me up, its the face sculpting. especially if the lighting is weird when i do it. i always make a normal character, start the game, brightly lit area, "WHY IS MY CHIN NEXT TO MY TONSILS! WHY DOES MY NOSE BEND INWARD THEN OUTWARD! WHERE ARE MY LIPS, I DEFINITELY HAD LIPS A SECOND AGO!"

Sometimes the lighting in the creation screen isn’t the same as in most of the game world so the character comes out looking really sickly or the makeup is the wrong shade

This is so true lol. I spend SO much time making them, think "yep, two hours work turned out great!" Then right after saving... "oh... Ugly... I'll just completely restart." Happens literally every last game of any type I play so long as it has any type of customization, even extremely simple ones. So annoying... And I'm not the type that says literally unless I mean it.

Thank god Elden Ring let’s you change your character whenever. Games that allow that type of customization in the pause menu or in a specific area, are goated af.

It's the character creator vanity lighting that does it. As soon as you're under normal lighting in the game world, your character looks like a 70 year old man.
