When your iPhone becomes a game console 

Did this about a week ago … got over 100 snes games my brother I grew up with. Amazing … let’s hope Nintendo doesn’t crash the party

Completed Okamiden (100%) it on Delta. It ran smooth as butter. Nothing to complaint about Delta aside from the occasional cramps from playing without a physical controller. Bought myself a Gamesir X2 Bluetooth. Now I can game comfortably.

To make it work well on a tv just use an adapter to plug it in that will smooth it out, then use a wireless controller like an xbox or playstation controller and you have the perfect home setup.

I would get a node in your gaming room (mesh network extender / AiMesh ) and if you have tri-band….chose a specific band for your gaming room (2.4ghz , 5.1ghz , or 5.2ghz band) Next I would chose a channel that has the least amount of traffic/ noise. Don’t let anyone else use this WiFi connection. There should be almost 0 lag. I did this to set up my Xbox and PS remote play. Works almost perfectly. Try it out. Might need a tri-band router.

I saw another RU-vidr show using Nintendo Switch Joycons via bluetooth. For people without the new iPhone 15 and its USB-C, this is a simple fit. Yes, it’s another device, but it’s more compact than a switch and I already had the Joycons. It’s not perfect, but works well enough to be fun.

I’ve been having a blast just using my Xbox controller to play games that are a little more fast paced. Like a Megaman Battlenetwork 3. So sick

I wonder if the USB C pass through on the Razer Kishi controller would allow hdmi cable to also work while using the controller. You’d be wired in, but it’d be perfect sync with TV.

I just beat castlevania aria of sorrow on delta and had no issues at all. No lag no problems with controller compatibility. Connect and play it’s so seemless

I very much agree that touch controls on most mobile games are not good at all. Although, I do appreciate how Delta provides some features to make their touch controls tolerable, at least for me. For one, you get haptic feedback from each button press which makes them feel more tactile. Also, the emulator allows you to virtually press and hold buttons which turned out to actually be a useful feature for games like Mario Kart DS where you had to press and hold the accelerator button anyway. Again, if I had a physical controller around, I personally prefer that. But considering that I spent no money on the emulator and I can play my childhood games somewhat decently, it’s hard to complain lol

Are there any viable options for controllers with an lightning connection that you would recommend?

Problem with Delta is lack of upscaling options. That also affects the output quality when casting to a TV

Will the emulator work on older iPhones like XS Max? how do you load the ROMs/Games?

Use a usb-c to hdmi for lagless TV output.

Is it possible to carry save data across devices? Like have a save file of Pokemon Emerald on my iphone and then be able to pick up later from my ipad?

Waiting to see what Gen the I devices can play. Would be super cool to play PS2 on an iPad at 60fps. Read there might be issues with Dolphin because of Apple not allowing JIT. Also heard PPSSPP is coming, so getting some PSP goodness could be awesome. Really wanted this for awhile, ability to consolidate while travelling (no need to bring a Switch, Pocket, AND iPad, just an iPad and 8bitdo)

Our iPhones will always be the most convenient way of mobile gaming as we will always have them with us.

I've got a bunch of emulators and I'm considering the gamesir... It'd be nice to have my phone be the answer. BUT, the issue for me is I'm not using my phone battery life for gaming -vs- a separate battery that when it's dead I'm done gaming but I still have my phone. I've recently upgraded from an iphone 11pro to a 15+ so this is now less of an issue but something I'm always thinking about.

I don't know, I have used Airplay on my Apple tv 4k with no issues (other than the expected slight delay from it being wireless)

I don’t use a controller that’s attached to my phone, I connect my Nintendo switch joycons instead. I airplay to my tv and I noticed lag as well, but I would just sit my phone next to my Apple TV and the games ran much smoother 👍🏻

Unless there’s a ps2 emulator I don’t see any games to play and I don’t see any reason there can’t be a ps2 or psp emulator now

If you just want to play Nintendo stuff or games on those platforms then this is way better than those cheap emulation handhelds. Nothing will have a better screen than your phone.

My iphone 12 mini has purpose now

This is nothing new, it's just easier to do now. I remember 1-2 years ago I played psp and gamecube on my old ish ipad at 1440p resolution with a controller via the dolphine emu. Apple hardware is so damn powerful.

I have the an iPhone, the rg35xx plus and H model. As great as the sound and emulation is on the iPhone it still can’t beat for me the nostalgia of playing things like Pokémon, and other retro games, on the plus model (which nails the look and feel of the game boy so well). It makes me feel like I’m playing an official console. However, the G8 controller setup is actually quite decent as well, If you have an iPhone I think that would be the better investment for most people, unless you’re like me and can’t resist that nostalgia look of the plus or H model. My only concern is the delta emulator itself, it’s not guaranteed yet that it’s going to stay in the App Store, and unless you’re planning the jailbreak your phone it’s a risky move to buy the gamesir controller not knowing how long the app will be there. Those are thoughts.

Personally, I don't feel comfortable using my expensive iPhone for purposes other than communication and works related. If I wanna play game, I'd get the proper devices for that--like the consoles and handhelds and whatnot. I don't even game on my Mac, unless there's really no other option.
