Thanks @Mashable for this quality piece on an important job. Ariadne: you are awesome! I've shared this video with my daughter who is interested in Marine Biology. :)
I want to save the ocean someday and save animals that are in trouble! 😊 I went snorkeling this summer and I got to see the underwater world! I got to see lots of tropical fish and I even got to touch and swim with a Nurse Shark! But I have learned and have touch lots of other marine life! And I want to continue that experience and learn more! 😊
Animal Artist68 Art World It’s great when you find out early what kind of job you want based on things you love! Good luck to you and I know you will get there someday soon!
I am going snorkeling this summer in Grand Turks Cacios Islands in the Bahams and I will be snorkeling in Real coral reefs with marine life! And I will have my own underwater camera with me to take my own pictures of the marine life! 😊 I have been studying ocean animals and I really enjoy learning about them! 😊 I am very excited to expierence the underwater world!
i’ve dreamed of being a marine biologist since i was in 5th grade, i’m 16 now and it’ll never happen because i’m not smart at all, and i might not finish high school on time
I don’t know if you’ll ever read this but I used to be in the same boat as you. I’m 22 now and just started college last year. When I was 16 I was failing a lot of classes (particularly science and math), I was heavily depressed, suicidal and on a lot of medication that really wasn’t right for me and gave me a lot of issues. I had at home issues and at the end of high school I was in an abusive relationship and life was really hard. I remember when I graduated we were called by GPA and needless to say I was in the very back. Afterwords I went through beauty school and worked in that field for a few years, I was still in a pretty bad place. I went homeless at one point and was staying at various friends houses. Life was really hard for me when I was younger. But I decided I wanted to go to school, I hated my career the only thing I liked about cosmetology was learning the science behind products. I was too scared to enter into the sciences upon entering college because I always figured I was too stupid. I thought I was too stupid for college in general. Although, now I’m one of the top students at my school. I make the deans list every semester and I’m in the process of changing my major to marine biology because it’s something Ive always loved and I’ve realized I love science, even if I failed it in high school. The older you get, the more you realize high school doesn’t define you. It’s not about being smart but a pursuit of interest and hard work. Sometimes you don’t go to college right out of high school and have to find yourself a little first. Sometimes you don’t go to the big fancy universities but instead community college then transfer where you want to go (what I’m doing!) and there’s no shame in any of it and don’t let anyone make you feel that way. Life is about the journey not the destination. I understand the fear, the anxiety and self doubt. Sometimes it takes us awhile to gain the courage to pursue something and that’s okay. Be afraid, but do it anyways.
Kat I’ve recently discovered how much i want to become a shark conservationist but i’m completely clueless how to even get started. Your comment is the only comment i’ve seen on any videos that i’ve related to. I did horrible in high school and have gone thru basically every situation you described yourself and i always believed i was too stupid to even be accepted into a school. i just wanted to let you know that while i’m so happy you have achieved so much, it’s honestly made me feel not so alone being 22 as well and being so unsure of where i belong and what i’m capable of doing. I just wanted to share that with you, your little comment and story made me feel validated and a bit hopeful that i can do this as well ❤️ good luck with everything you are doing, i bet you have achieved so much!!
Hello I’m 15 I’m starting High School soon and I’m either going to be a marine in the military or a Marine Biologist I’m from Louisiana so not much volunteer work but I came here because Ik I want to “specialize” in Marine Mammals but I want to have a substantial job any suggestion?
She is a marine biologist and certified scuba diver. for just cleaning you can probably get away with just having your scuba certification, but most people would need a degree. Especially because what she is doing is writing stuff down and she really knows what she is doing
Take biology and another science and then go and study marine biology or normal biology and uni and then you can do a masters in marine biology or marine conservation
@@sleverlight I dont think so but it might depend on if you studied biology before university. I would contact the university you're looking at or look at their website.
Here on the east coast where I have lived for more than forty years with a degree in fisheries biology and have worked on some major projects I can't get a permanent position. Being clinical the state of the coastline from Boston to Alexandria Va is horrible. I have witnessed areas go into biomass extinction from recreational use. No one wants hear that they want to believe all this money in salaries will cure this mess. The road runoff alone from interstate use is the equivalent to a tanker oil spill a year and that is just a start. We have no ecosystem metric to establish a baseline. No offense however we just keeping treating the symptoms.
I was wondering myself about the urchins but it's not taking a toll because that many urchins aren't supposed to be there. They overpopulated because animals like sea otters weren't eating them. Assuming they weren't eating them because they weren't there due to human impact
Are you a certified scuba diver and do you have your own scuba gear like wetsuit and dive gloves and dive hood and dive boots and dive fins and dive mask and scuba tank and bcd and regulator to breath from and breath underwater with scuba regulator who is your dive buddy for scuba diving and how long did it take you to do your scuba training and how does it feel to breath underwater with scuba regulator
CookieHearts Plays Im scared of the ocean but I want to be an oceanographer with a concentration in sea life biology, water chemistry or “simply” marine biologist. We got this
@@talithahiggs1912 I would say both, as they are dealing with marine subjects, however, if you want to deal more with animals than environments, biology is the way to go. Also, I totally forgot I wrote this comment it was so long ago :)
Hello, I work at a zoo and i know we don’t have a sea animal exhibit because it is very expensive to have a proper habitat for the animals and ocean life. But there are many zoos with sea lion and dolphin exhibits. :)
playzor911 She gets grants to do the work that she does. The grants cover her work and personal expenses during the alloted time the comany gives her. Don't quote me on this, though. This is just what my research has told me and I don't know how acurate it is.
Go to school for Marine Biology. Get dive certified. Captains license too. It's hard to get into. Not a lot of positions open that will pay you. Usually you start out as an intern and get paid peanuts after.
I’m kinda disappointed.... Marine Biologist, people who are supposed to be helping the Ocean and the life living in it. But, no. They wanted to use motorized boats. :( Wellllll, I guess I’m not that big of a help, but still 😑
BIG FAT FISH well, It was kind of a joke but, sometime they can cause some pollution in the water. But, it is still fine to use motorized boats! It was just a joke
