Or at least before you tweak some tactics. A lot of sounds are from @JamesYevon , many thanks to him for doing 56 videos of PMD sounds ! (Didn't find the razor leaf sound though...)
@@cymtastique No, not really. First, because he one shot him; second, it's an Hippopotas, is not like he's gonna Draco Meteor them to death even if he survived.
That's the one thing everyone can agree that the newer Mystery Dungeon entries do right: Partner AI is way better. They won't aggro sleeping enemies with ranged moves.
@@WikiHL In PMD1 and PMD2, no amount of IQ would make them dodge traps. Beyond those two games, IQ ain't a thing: instead, you got team skills in GtI, rings with gems in Super, rare qualities in DX. However, In more recent games, their pathing is just MILES better, for instance in DX they might go and go for items when in a room without enemies, and dodging a trap is just a given!
Multi-hit moves have always been powerful in pokemon mystery dungeon games, and chikorita can deal with all those flying and dragon types with a certain skill it can get from gummis in RTDX
@@michaelkowal3230 Bullet Seed isn't a TM in the remake. In the original, you could find it somewhat consistently in Geeat Canyon. Steamroller is a good skill, but we didn't need it to decimate Ray.
@@PedroMartinez-xx1zp just because Bullet Seed isn't a TM doesn't mean multi-hit moves have gotten worse, there's a reason why Meowth is a good starter character and it's because of fury swipes
@@michaelkowal3230 Not arguing against Multi-hit, but the video is about range moves. Believe me, Chespin's Pin Missle in Super did some serious work even without Type Bulldozer
@@PedroMartinez-xx1zp That's why Bullet Seed is the best non-room attack in the game. It's multi-hit and ranged. Play your cards right, and one use can take out several enemies.
I love this video. It' s simple and made to be relatable but it's still so well executed, the part of Bulbasaur proud's face leveling up after fainting a pokemon miles away from him is an awesome example of funny and cute being mixed.
Vacuum cut man. It’s so annoying that the partner will spam that move every two seconds but if used right with boosts it can be DEADLY in a monster house.
@@lory3771 Vacuum Cut is (mostly) one of the fixed damage attacks... mostly. If you use it with a Skitty (as I had to with me being one), it's ability makes it normal type, and gives it STAB, making it deal 27 damage... except it'll only deal 13 against anything that resists, but that's a general Skitty problem. Nothing says stressful like having to keep everyone alive in the Dusknoir fight when your only means of offense that hits everyone is a 13 damage hit that, thanks to Dusknoir, needs to be recharged every four hits.
@@ezekielbaskerville2710 Skitty is so underrated. When I played a rom hack "explorers of skies", I had to download a tool to edit the rom because they gave Skitty another ability instead of normalize...
I feel it is a little bit unfortunate (but probably for the better) that the newer games, including the remakes, limit the range of straight line attacks to four panels. No longer will my partner launch an attack across a super large room or down a corridor when I’m not paying attention to nuke an enemy I didn’t notice was there. … I mean, I suppose I could always just give them something to throw, but it’s not the same. Also, what the hell do you _mean_ Treecko doesn’t learn bullet seed by TM in the DX remake!? :P
The only thing that got me through Dark Chasm in my first run of Explorers was using Shock Wave down the giant, straight corridors that tend to get generated there. I was underleveled and two Grumpigs in a row could delete me, it was rough -_-
@@untrollquifaitdesblaguessa2584my piplup in super has a 10 space ranged attack that also does piercing damage. its so satisfying when im in a monster house and just one shot an entire row with a single attack. also, i cant remember if they were in the older games too, but theres a good number of attacks that target an entire room. both of my other main team pokemon have room wide attacks on them so i barely have to lift a finger alot of the time, they just destroy everything in the area before i can even line up lol
SilverWind Venomoth and Ominous Wind Driftblimp. They can obliterate an entire stash of Reviver Seeds in an instant without you being even able to react to it
This video actually perfectly illustrates why Absol is one of the most busted mons in MD. Its gets so many ranged moves and the type coverage is insane. Flamethrower and Ice Beam, Shock Wave in the older gens and so many AoE moves now. Dudes a beast
It was really funny playing Rescue Team DX and having a full party with screen nukes. They ran out of PP super fast, but at least I wasn't in danger when they were active.
My main character was a Torchic, and my partner was a Squirtle. Squirtle got Bubble ( a ranged attack in PMD ) very early on, and since he was behind me, and since Torchic is a Fire Type... I kept dying. HE KEPT BUBBLING ME AND I KEPT DYING.
Ah yes, this behavior of your partner attacking everything they can see. Its useful to have, but it drains pp, and can agro dangerous numbers of enemies. Its at that point I learned more about setting tactics which allowed my team members to avoid foes, or go exploring in different directions all together. The latter of which i learned was very useful for efficiently clearing floors of items and enemies.
It was actually the other way around for my pmd team i found an energy ball tm, and with my hero being a bulbasaur, NOBODY was touching my partner(eevee)
When you enter those long ass rooms that go from a side of the floor to the other and they just be sniping every enemy when they get the chance while you can't do it cause your attacks only reach what you see on screen
aaauuugghh my partner(s) would do this, attempting to hit whatever is in the opposite side of a massive room with a ranged/ROOM-WIDE attack, but instead of being super accurate they would waste the PP on missing or having no effect i didn't get a steady supply of elixirs on me so i was trying to save powerful moves on really dangerous situations i knew i could tell a pokemon not to use a particular move, but iirc it wouldn't make it any more likely to use the ones that it can use unless you have a particular tactic ...then everything changed when i found a complete team control hack the rush of power you feel when you gang up on some random pokemon and basic attack it out of existence lol >:)
It's even funnier when the partner knows Bullet Seed: Me: "Just gonna walk past that sleeping Dragonite, no reason to wake it up" Partner: *So anyway I started blasting*
I had to start maneuvering my partner Cubone so that it wouldn't get in line with enemies so I had a chance to beat them myself lol. Bonemerang is nuts, and in DX I gave it Rapid-Fire Boost so it would never miss lmao
And then you have to use 15 max elixirs because for whatever reason it becomes allergic to using anything other than Razor Leaf (looking at you Leafeon)
I remembered when I tried to recruit Mew in DX I forgot to deactivate my teamates’s moves and my Rayquaza has screwed me over and Koed Mew with outrage, I was furious when he did that and yeah by the way the move Outrage is a range move of 10 tiles long piercing for giant pokemon like Rayquaza
I both love and hate that by default in the modern mystery dungeons your partner is absolutely bloodthirsty and will go out of their way to slaughter enemies if they have the means to, "Let's explore together" shouldn't be as absurd as it is but damn if it isn't funny especially when they have the same auto pilot drive to pick up items as you do.
The moment I had bullet seed in the first game, the game became too easy, long range multihit, every time the enemy takes a step 3 more of those shots come its way it melted bosses
