I think it’s because looking back on it and having her actually saying it out loud from her perspective followed by her saying he also proposed made him realize his mistake. I don’t think he did it to be weird at first but he only looked at the deed from his perspective of just trying to clean her rather than actually taking into account how she would look at the deed and how she would feel. Hindsight is 2020 and this scene shows a trait he learns to have throughout the show: empathy.
I wish he’d use this human form more lol it’s nice to actually see his expressions instead of the emotionless skull. But I guess that’s a major point of his character; he’s unable to properly express his emotions so the skull is fitting.
Its been a few years now, since The Ancient Magus Bride debuted. So now I ask this. Was I the only one who felt that Elias's human form was ugly as sin and preferred the deer skull?
