Don't worry, Nintendo is accutely aware of intellectual property matters. It's rather unlikely that they would use anyone's work without proper licensing. This would be really ironical to say the least.

No joke, A legend of Zelda Shield Surfing spin-off would be awesome. Get to play as other characters who each have their own unique moves, Travel around vast arenas collecting items that can be stuck to your shield to do even more cool stuff and just trying to see how long you can keep a combo going. The Hylian Shield makes for the best base for shield surfing. Not only does it have stupidly high durability that you can grind for hours and not risk breaking, but you can replace it easily if it does.
