Welcome back to Rocky Mountain Farmer! It's Day 9 of our wheat harvest, and today we pushed hard with our new Fendt Ideal 9, cutting nearly 150 acres of wheat. The combine performed like a champ, but the real excitement came when we had not one, but two close calls with some unexpected visitors. Watch as we narrowly avoid a couple of skunks that almost became part of the harvest! Tune in to see all the action and get a behind-the-scenes look at life on the farm during harvest season. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more updates from the field!

For your dust on mirror issue, clean them off then rub them down with a dryer sheet. That might help.

I was somewhat surprised how many breakages the new machine encountered. You seem to be comfortable with this. Since I am not a farmer it would be interesting to hear your point of view on this issue. The other matter that causes me concern is the distance of the supply chain for the machine. Given the apparent number of issues each season this could be a problem further down the road when there are more machines in the States competing for parts and service during harvesting season. Nevertheless, another good video, thanks.
@Rusty-GB
@Rusty-GB 19 дней назад
I have been wondering about this myself. Like you I am not a farmer but for a new machine it does seem to have suffered what i would have thought to be a large number of breakages. Maybe this is the norm but having the farmers insight into this would be appreciated.

It isn't normal. For us a new s780 had zero problems first season. 8250 zero problems. Had a new hagie that never broke in 3 years. Fendt sprayer currently has broken down every day I've used it. Agco is garbage. Some folks are just happy go lucky and can withstand it or think that since they own it it must be good. It's unacceptable.

Nice field repair on the shield :) I heard that the trucks were hauling the grain straight to the mill. Is that a normal practice in your area, or do you or other farmers in your area sometimes use their own silos to store the grain so you can harvest when you have those lovely blue skies but the mill is closed?
@RockyMountainFarmer

I question the logic with regards to spending approximately $700k to cut roughly 1,600 acres of wheat over a three week period and then have the machine sit in the shed for the remainder of the year until it is required again for the following years harvest. Becoming a 'slave' by having to pay this huge chunk of money to a machinery manufacturer is questionable. Depreciation is also another major factor to consider. Why not just rent a combine for the three week period or get a custom harvester to cut the wheat-?
@RockyMountainFarmer
@RockyMountainFarmer 19 дней назад
To rent one or have a custom cutter come in would make the payment on this since we didn’t spend anything close to 700000 on it. We needed something big enough to get done in 2 weeks because we go from hay to wheat to hay to manure to potatoes to hay to manure all in a 2 month period. So we don’t have time to mess around. Last year it took us 4 weeks to cut 700 acres and that delayed all the other crops and fieldwork. We had to upgrade to shorten harvest.
