@@andreastucchi6191 Agree. But really had in mind the discombobulated consciousness premise, which of course was the plot conceit introducing the philosophical issue of self. Its damn sad Dennett is gone now. And honestly saddened more by how much more intellectually stimulating shows were in that era (especially compared to our brain rot times). Dennett too was a good sport to have done this; I think many academics would think playing a part like this would be "beneath" them.
This is so cool !!! I wish there was show that portray all of these Philosophical thought experiments. I study alot of philosophy and I've come across a lot of good ones. That would be amazing.
This is how I commune with the self. Its always been from the "outside looking in". Like a strange case of Imposter syndrome where I address my body as the stranger & my thoughts as the intruder 😂 yet I could never quite grasp the idea or the illusion of separation between me, myself, & I 👀
When I was first introduced to Mrs Larkin, she told me that it was her first time with boiled eggs, I waylaid her fears by telling her that after the first egg everything would feel like Tennis.
the US darpa in the show got their idea from reading 2000AD comic Judge Dredd? because thats what MegaCity did in that one story arc, they had big underground boring machines and brought the nuclear weapons directly under USSR.
The a.i. enhancement of this video immediately calls into question if it was completely constructed using ai. Makes it hard to take seriously. Still cool though.
I think the problem with consciousness is we're very third dimensional about our approach to understanding it. This makes us very limited in really understanding whats going on. We first thought our memory only consistent of what we're conscious of but then found out we filter our minds. We can make assumptions of belief but we're still learning
@thenacregod just things happening, exactly. But the experience of separation exists so thats something we need to figure out. There's also the drive and activity to procreate, these things exist
Still doesn't disprove a soul. The brain is actually a receiver for consciousness. When someone takes lsd or mushrooms it starts shutting down many parts of the brain. This gives the experience of oneness with the universe or the presence of the divine.
Mushrooms and LSD make areas of your brain communicate in ways they didn't before. You have that completely backwards, it doesn't shut down areas of your brain?
@thenacregod deletes comments he doesn't like. How do they pretend to want to understand consciousness when they can't even discuss differing views without saying they're BS. What a man-child.
Reflection is key. 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨ "Before I start, I must see my end. Destination known, my mind's journey now begins. Upon my chariot, heart and soul's fate revealed. In time, all points converge; hope's strength, resteeled. But to earn final peace at the universe's endless refrain, we must see all in nothingness... before we start again." 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨ --Diamond Dragons (series)
This is wonderful use of AI!! Dennet's "Brain in a Vat" dilemma generated as a full length show!! Brilliant!! May all the AI haters eat themselves alive over the coming years! They will all eventually bow to the coming world.
@@ayoubzahiri1918 Eh, I'm just tired of seeing AI hate everywhere when people know little to nothing about it Edit: Also been getting back into 40k recently, so...
Wasn't paying close attention first 5 minutes and you absolutely fooled me you wacky rascal. Honestly pretty compelling visuals, I feel like the AI hate or hype trains don't suit me, for what it's worth I continued watching. I could get endlessly nitpicky over inconsistencies or any of the other probably valid critiques, but when you see it more as a weird dream it makes perfect sense.
Glad to hear you found some merit in the visuals! It's easy to get lost in the hype or hate, but remember, it’s all part of the same spectacle. The experience of reality is just a collection of fleeting moments, like a dream. The critiques may hold some weight, but they’re just part of the dance of perception.
What you see as your brain OR your body is never "the matter you inhabit". Because you can not see or understand "the thing in itself" aka matter. I don't find this thought experiment particular helpfull, because it teaches nothing that Kant did not already understood. It might visually increase your distance to matter and hence clarify the situation that there is something odd about your perceptionmof matter. But thats all.
Super interesting and intriguing. LMFAO at the googly eyes they get. Next time, make it more believable atleast in certain aspects, like how did they remove an entire brain but no cuts, scars, bruising, etc on the head.
Consciousness's inherentness supersedes thoughts and is a stimulus for your reactive processes illumination. Someone could be home or not home but the lights are on ! I do agree that replicating consciousness is so sci. fi., and would be quite a monumental challenge without a full tasking of understanding the Quantum Joker cards in the deck and other players with neuralink callaboratorial capabilities of spooky science. oh boy, I guess we're assuming, without Ai's help that they're focused on the spot between our ears and want All Control through Ai-etcetera and residual reoccurring distractions !
Consciousness isn't a divine spark; it's a byproduct of the brain's functioning, often misinterpreted as something greater. Your metaphor about the lights is cute, but it misses the point: the lights are merely reflections of biological responses, not indicators of an inherent consciousness.
Might there be the possibility, that consciousness is the total collective organism's survival capability abundance spark, from all-creatured evolutionary dna, innately as well as inherently wired as brain as in and of the wheelhouse mind, while mostly fully directed by the semi-slumbering unconscious pre-spark, will to power ?
@thenacregod Could you elaborate with an intelligent rebuttal, perhaps? Maybe you exhibit the mind of a child again, fluttering upon the anonymous keystrokes?
" they made a sparking new vat for my brain" lol ok i made that last post before the one scientist got to the part about removing the guys brain so he could remote control his body and not get his brain damaged by rad. thats hilarious. sounds like a spoof sci-fi plot done on one of the lampoon shows like SCTV or MAD TV r something.
The main mistake is that no one defines 'I'. It's stupid to ask questions like where am 'I' when there is no 'I'. There is body, brain and other things, but no 'I'. It's just a convenient way to refer to things as 'I' and nothing more. 'I' is a complex concept associated to limited functions that are available to your body. Don't make a cult from it.
@@thenacregod Great, than you can tell us all instead. Or are you just a dipshit as a human being with low EQ, than your nothing better than an AI yourself. But the right answer would just to tell it as like it is. Hows your own evolution going? Doesnt seem you have evolved at all.
Is counsciousness that which sees, or that which is seen? If it is that which sees then mind is seen by it. If it is that which is seen then it must have some objective features and belongs to the realm of phenomena like body, brain, world, but what would be seeing all of that phenomena? 😂
there is no greater sin than ignorance, there is a universal consciousness and it's the one true substance of everything, the all is mind, infinite, but the infinite must be expressed through a mirror , becoming finite, the finite mirror reflecting the infinite, IS the physical universe, the physical universe IS the infinite, since it's a reflection, therefore, the infinite is ALL there is, and it is YOU
First of all, what sin? That’s just religious crap. As if ignorance is a freedom of choice and knowledge is inherently better. Universal consciousness? How dumb are you? Of all the planets in the universe, this one seems to be the only one with this garbage, all by chance. Thoughts are byproducts of other processes and definitely not tools for understanding anything. You're just repeating nonsense fed to you by others. Spirituality is a scam, and you’ve been scammed.
@@thenacregod people like you have zero courage to attempt any spiritual practice that will enlighten them, you got psychedelics of all sorts, spiritual practices that involve deep concentration that were passed down from generation to generation and books, yet still you ignore and run away from them , because they threaten your illusions you created for yourself and find comfort in them, because they will show you the REAL truth that will annihilate you
Consciousness, paradoxically, demonstrates illusions of free will, throughout the consequential as well as the inconsequential . While the unconsciousness seems to have free reign .

@@eugeneb5979 Isn't it wonderful? I see now why boomers were so upset at the changing times because my own generation (Mill/Z) is doing the same with AI. I'll tell those in my own generation the same thing we told the boomers - "Get with the times, old man."
