Where Are The Protagonist From In Pokemon Legends Arceus? 

I personally like the headcanon that the Protag is from Diamond/Pearl/Platnuim. Arcues chose them to go back in time, since they've already shown themselves capable of taking on the Gods of Creation. Plus that way they're already proficient with catching, raising, and battling Pokemon as well- they're a champion after all.

I always figured they were from the real world. In the beginning of the game, Laventon asks if we know what Pokemon are, and you're given the option to either say "you don't" or "of course you do". The way I understood that is that Pokemon is a game in the real world, so either you know what Pokemon are through the games, or you don't know what Pokemon are.

My theory : Rei and Akari are actually Dawn and Lucas but they are the one whom we don't pick in BDSP. After the protagonists became champion Arceus picks up the second character (who is professor's assistant and had task of completing Sinnoh pokedex ) and drops them in Hisui. They travelled through a space-time distortion...and probably had a permanent memory loss about personal information such as name and locality.. that's why those 15 yrs kids didn't urged Arceus to return back to present...

I think rei/Akari should only be meant to refer specifically to Laventon’s initial assistant and the protagonist goes by a different name from either of those

I’m thinking of a split timeline where Arceus takes you back in time to help the people of Hisui make the first pokemon dex. Making you, in that timeline, your own ancestor

Maybe Rei and Akari are Lucas’s and Dawn’s ancestors, since there is an ancestor gimmick in the game.

(Using the female protagonist as the canon one for any and all of the Sinnoh games just to keep things simple for this example) I still firmly believe that the girl that got sent back in time is just the same Dawn from DPPt/BDSP, it would make sense that Arceus would see her worthy given that she beat Team Galactic that tried to get a hold of one of Arceus's underlings and also becoming the champion of the whole region. It would be very weird if Arceus chose some random girl from a dofferent region, especially if she looks exactly like Dawn but has no relation or connection to her whatsoever. I feel like the canonical names (Akari and Rei) are just meant to be used for whoever your gender counterpart who actually does belong in Hisui's time period is, I don't think they apply to your player character. Also, that Galar shirt could easily have been a souvenir Dawn has, or maybe it can be bought in any region. As for who would be BOTH Dawn and Lucas's ancestor in this game, that would be Rei, making Lucas your second cousin, or somewhere along your family tree. **EDIT: When you receive your National Dex in BDSP and complete your Pokedex and main missions in PLA (yes, including getting Arceus in that game) in order to trigger the Arceus event in BDSP, the Azure Flute shows up in your (Dawn's) room, and what was she wearing in the beginning of PLA? Pyjamas. It's safe to say the question has been answered on who the PLA protagonist is.**

I have two theories here. The first one were the protagonist is both Ancestor/Descendant of a main character from Diamond/Pearl (this is based on modern teenager room from Diamond/Pearl games found in game files). The second one is that Arceus created you based on Legendary Plate powers, and then give you some knowledge of modern trainers knowledge from Diamond/Pearl era to stop the crisis, and start a progress in Hisui region. One of the advantages of the second theory is your character getting Arceus Phone, a powerful new plate "Legendary Plate" that changes the type of Judgment attack to super effective against your opponent, and you will get a copy of Arceus at the end, so if Arceus can create a multiple copies of himsale whose is to say that he cannot create a human being to be his hero. But in both theories I think that protagonist, and the rival that works for professor rowan from Diamond/Pearl (I am also counting the remake in this) are your descendants. PS.I think that the game devs cut out this modern room to give us more mystery about the protagonist origins.

It honestly just makes too much sense that they are Lucas/Dawn from DPPt/BDSP. Regarding the thing with them wearing casual Kalos and Galar t-shirts, they could simply have visited the regions, bought them, then went home. Or ordered them online, because how would that not be a thing in their world? =P

A theory I came up with and personally like is that the player character isn't from anywhere but is in fact created by Arceus and was just given false memories of being from somewhere else. I like this theory.

I personally think that the protagonist of platinum and legends are the same person because of their similarities and also they are the only one who qualified for this role being incredibly strong and showed they can take on freaking gods considering how dangerous housing is you can’t just sent their your average trainer so you need to be at least a champion level to take on the mission arceus force upon you. They were born in sinnoh which will be the first place arceus will search for a champion It will also explain why the creation trio doesn’t flat out kill you in diamond pearl and platinum. It’s because you saved them before. You are their friend they know they can trust you. Also about the name difference it highly implied that the pla protagonist had his memory wiped too. And about the short difference since the protagonist is 15 and platinum protagonist is 12 it makes sense that after becoming champion they had time to travel to other regions.

They CAN'T be from our world (real world), because our protagonist have memories of his homeworld, and he discribed it a little bit when he is answering to some specific questions. We know that in his OG world, humans and pokemon live in harmony, there is also Pokemon battle and badge quest (we know about the badge quest at the end of the massive outbreaks quest). And because he is from a region with badges quest, we know that he is not from Alola for sure.

I think the official name is the one of the assistant and not the time traveler, and they are probably the ancestor of the assistant in DPP. Regarding the question of where the time traveler does come from... Well, it has to be a world where the pokémon branding exists. They have a Pokéball Shirt and a Pokéball Phonecase, afterall. So its down to 'reality at least somewhat like we know it or pokéworld'. I also think that they will never return to the present day, and be stuck in the past for the rest of their life. Afterall, Arceus makes no attempt of sending them back even after you fulfilled its requests. So well, the easy awnser is that they are the DPP Protag snatched up and send back. The looks seem to fit, but then again, hairstyle is the literally only thing to go by here. I personally think we have a Courier 6 situation here. The past is a mystery for the player to substitute their own views and ideas into. All we need to know is that arceus shit us in the head and stole our phonecase to substitute with their own. We do shape the personality somewhat, as little as we can. Even if it comes down to sassy, scaredy or the 'nice' option. There is a few things set in stone, but you are presented them directly at the start and can craft your background with that in mind. Your name is meant to be replaced. Afterall, Laverton is supposed to have no idea about where it comes from. having a nice name fitting in with everyone else in the area stretches that a bit. Your past is implied, but only so vauge you can fill in anything. This character is a canvas with no childhood friend to tie you down, no past belongings to put you down a specific way, no mother that knows more about the character then the player does. Tl:dr There is no past meant for your Character. Only what you are willing to give it.

In my playthrough, I interpreted the protagonist as Lucas-as-Professor Rowan's assistant.

I like to think they're just the sinnoh protagonists cousins. They look similar, and could also a thing like how red is ash and ash is sir what's his face with lucario. Dawn from the anime is the same as the protagonist in diamond pearl is the protagonist in archeus

I think that it takes place after DP and the protagonist is the champion of sinnoh.

I think Lucas and Dawn are the ones who were sent to the past but maybe they use different names to avoid being seen as out of place.

Imo, male protagonist is related to Calem, and the female is related to the gen7 protagonist, (who aren't from alola) Then dawn and Lucas are descendants of these 2. I'm also a fan of the 'professor sycamore is the father of the gen4 protags' theory.

I have many theories surrounding the Origins of the protagonist of Legends of Arceus. But one of my favorites to think about, is the thought that the protagonist of Legends of Arceus are from a different dimension then the one we play through in the forth generation. We know from ultra sun and moon that parallel timelines exists canonical with in the pokemon universe. And nintendo has stated that each individual copy of the pokemon games is its own individual univeres, where nearly everything is the same, aside from the protagonist names, and their teams. As such, you could say that Rei and Akria are their universe equivalent of Dawn and Lucas.

I think Which ever protagonist you pick is the son/daughter of Lucas/Dawn from the future that's my Theory anyway

Also, while I'm aware of what the Daybreak update implies, I always like to imagine the fact that you can choose for your character to not remember stuff and even say they don't know what Pokémon even are as an invitation for the player to freely interpret for themselves where their character came from. So for instance, my character, Fang, I decided comes from a world where Pokémon just doesn't exist at all. But someone else's protagonist when playing through the game could be from modern-day Sinnoh if they want.

Considering that their official names are Akari and Rei it seems very unlikely that they are Dawn and Lucas since Game Freak wouldn’t just change their official names like that.

I always figured that the protag in Legends Arceus is just Lucas/Dawn 3-5 years after the events of the Sinnoh games with them being 15 and then time travelled back 300 years to Hisui by Arceus, and while the character that we didn't pick is Akari/Rei, anyway that's just my head canon on Legends Arceus And as for the t-shirts and thongs/flip flops, I think that their just little Easter eggs or Lucas/Dawn was snatched while on holiday, who knows

Maybe Rei and Lucas or Akari and Dawn, depending on who you chose, both existed in the present at the same time being completely different people. I think Rei/Akari were sent back in time by arceus before Lucas/Dawn became a trainer, and Rei/Akari stayed in Hisui leading to Lucas/Dawn being their descendants in Sinnoh, which means that if Rei/Akari’s parents are in the present, then they’re the ancestors of Lucas/Dawn that are still around but they don’t know about them since you pointed out their shirts, the parents are probably in a different region. I hope I made sense.

I'm pretty sure Ingo ended up in Hisui via Ultra-Wormhole, not via Arceus.

Rei and Akari are the side characters, chosen dependently on whether you pick we the male or female protagonist. We do not know nor have any actual names of the characters we can play as.

Honesty i thought it was Cyrus from platinum being isekai. My reason is because weirdly we get his clothes and hair style. Noy only that in platinum he walks off in the distortion world and we never see him again. It could lead to why the galactic team slowly went mad

If the game actually ended with the player going back home it wouldve been a emotional goodbye with rei/akira,professor laventon,the galaxy team and the diamand and pearl clans so sad😔😔😔

Hold up, Ray and Akari are not the main characters. Ray or Akari already live in the past you are either Dawn or Lucas at about 15 when you get sent back.

If the main character uses they're real name it will mess up the future thats why in the bdsp game are books that hint of someone doing all this but no name were given nor the character origins and when you battle dialga in the future the ruins are destroyed with the evidence of the lost pokemon that used to live there, and it got destroyed when you battle dialga in the past, coincidence i think not. That's my 2 cents

The way i feel about this game is the same for assasins creed i want to like it but something in the story(not getting a clear answer on if you get to go home or not) makes me not want to play it

I think they are the BDSP protagonists. 1. Pokemon always has different multiverses because of the gender choose so it is possible that because WE play the game, choose different names, different looks and experience the jouney in different ways it's always a different world from the endless playthroughs. And the multiverse idea doesn't sound that dumb because it's always mentioned getting us back to our world and not time. 2. Rei and Akari are the ancestors of Lucas and Dawn but there are only two possibilitys. IF the protagonist goes back into his world then the other part must be the only ancestor of both but that would mean there must be multiple hundred years between PLA and BDSP so the relation is far enough apart. I mean it's possible because Lucas and Dawn look like siblings AND no matter who we choose the mother stays the same. But if he stays in Hisui then we are our own ancestor even though he/she would be the biggest asshole ever to disapear and make a lot of people sad because he is gone. 3. An obvious hint would be that we know about pokemon (and if not there is still the memory loss possibility) and that we are 15 years old (I mean that they even mentioned this was interesting enough). So the protagonist had enough time to travel after BDSP story to get those cloths. 4. The most obvious hint for me is the "The Sea's Legend" book that was introduced in BDSP and was written in ancient letters that supports that PLA is multiple hundread years before BDSP. But because our Protagonist knows this book he/she is able to solve this quest. And yeah the real world theorie is also good but I think it's weird because we look the same as the BDSP protahonists.

I just straight up believe the protags were created by Arceus specifically, the only line I can think of that contradicts this is at the end of the first major update where the player recalls the gym mechanics

I hate the diamond and pearl protagonist head canon it feels like a big turn off for me like the protagonist is pulled away from there friends and family to go to the past with no way of going home that sounds like a nightmare to me I personally think there just from another region in the past that's more advanced than hissui
