Another point that, well, points to Beni being Wally's ancestor is that in a piece of dialogue after the game, they mention about wanting to move to a warmer region to 'help with their old bones' or something along those lines; specifically bringing up Hoenn as a possibility if I do recall

I personally believe that, while Volo’s related to Cynthia, he’s not her direct ancestor, he’s more like a great-great uncle. Volo’s true decendant is Lusamine, due to his insanity and devotion to his own plans, as well as the initial helping until the twist that they’re batshit crazy

I think it's important to bring up how Cynthia, Volo and Cogita's Latin inspiration for their names all closely relates them. Cogito = I think Volo = I want Sentio = I feel This just makes me believe that Cogita and Volo are both ancestors to Cynthia, in some form. Could be that Volo is a time traveler and is somehow Cogita's ancestor or that they both share an ancestor and that's why they look familiar. Certainly could suggest they hook up at some point, too....No way would they have Volo have Cynthia's near identical team and same theme for him to not somehow relate to her. Not to mention his love and curiosity for mythology. While Cogita shares a similar love for myths and history.

Cogita is strongly implied to be immortal, or at least outrageously long-lived. The old verses you dig up describe the story of a immortal, and Cogita states that Enamorus will return to her after the players death, and unless she's planning on offing you within the week she has no reason to think she's outlive you unless she does not have a normal human lifespan. If Volo's comments about waiting centuries are to be taken literally, then the two of them could have a very long time to produce the family line that results in Cynthia, even if they aren't together at the time of Legends.

Yes, the Shadow Triad connection is a forced one, considering that Beni's hair isn't naturally white, he's just old, while the Shadow Triad hair color appears to be either natural or bleached. And Wally was even a ninja in the manga, which can be a little callback to the manga.

@@jeanduresau Wally wasn't a ninja in the manga. He wore that suit to suit his conditions when climbing up the Sky Tower. You can argue it looks like a ninja but the suit ultimately serves for him to breathe with that oxygen tank and maneuver better.

Cyllene was stern, yet kind. Her biggest flaw was failing to show her caring side more often. Over the next several generations, the strictness remained while the kindness was forgotten. One other point in favor of Sycamore being a descendant of Adaman that I rarely see mentioned is that Sycamore was implied to be a student of Professor Rowan. So the Sinnoh connection is already there.

When I played the game I thought that all named NPCs just HAD to be ancestors, but the uniqueness of some characters like Adaman and Callaba disprove this. But I thought it was weird that some important characters were ancestors, while others weren’t. In hindsight, however, I think it’s better that not all characters are ancestors. Makes it more fun to try and pinpoint who is. I see many people say Marlon is Iscan’s descendent, with people responding Marlon isn’t actually black. But your theory actually works. I had completely forgotten Iscan is together with Palina. If they actually stay together, it could be that Marlon inherits Palina’s general skintone, but just tans easily because of the melanin he inherited from Iscan. Personality- and chracter trait-wise, it just makes too much sense.

According to my mom, my great-grandmother was noticeably dark skinned, and my uncle is white but capable of tanning rather extremely. Marlon being that same way would have a basis in reality.

I always thought Melli was an ancestor to James. They have a very similar hair style, color, and arrogant personality, but I like the trope that they make the ancestors kind of the opposite. James is lovable while Melli is the exact opposite, similar to Candace, a gym leader, being a criminal in ancient Sinnoh.

Fun fact: Laventon is an example of the old-timey ways of naming people. "-Ton" is a suffix that means settlement or farm which has ties to the word "Town", with "Laven," as a shortened version of "Lavender." This means: There was potentially a Lavender Town in Galar long ago, and Laventon's family (therefore Hop, etc) originated there, and/or the Lavender Town we all know is named for professor Laventon. Additionally, Commander Komado, while definitely Rowan's ancestor, speaks with a Kansai accent when defeated in the JP version, which is the counterpart to Johto. He fled "some event" that made him both terrified and in awe of pokemon, which suggests that both he and Beni potentially fled during the Brass Tower incident, perhaps having lost their homes in the resulting fire. Morty, the gym leader there, also has a similar hairstyle to both Beni, which might suggest that he might have left behind family when leaving with Komado.

Komado probably comes from modern-day Mahogany town actually. There's a dialogue suggesting that he's got issues with gyarados specifically, so his village was probably wiped out by them.

I'm very strongly sure that the first reason for Laventon's name was because they wanted the professor of meiji-restoration-period-hokkaido to be a direct reference to one Lafcadio Hearn, and that they took Mr. Hearn's name, pulled a plant reference out of it and made it british. (Also in languages that aren't english, his name is just derived from lavender or literally lavender without any notable extra additions that "make it british" so that -ton suffix or something like it was only done for the english translation. I even checked to make sure if Lavender the plant had a more proper rendering in kanji or hiragana in japanese to see if they rendered it in katakana for the professor to make him seem even more like a foreigner, but no, Lavender in japan is just the english word in katakana.) Lafcadio Hearn was an Irish-English novelist that had traveled to Japan during his life and fell in love with the culture there, especially the mythological culture surrounding shinto animism and youkai legends there. He stayed for many years, learning the language and compiling writings and stories of various youkai, to eventually return to the british isles to publish the stories and legends of youkai and the like, being one of the western world's very first sources of the spread of japanese culture. The dates of his lifetime and travels to the east even align pretty well with the time period the game represents.

@@X-Vidar Its also entirely possible that he and Beni were fleeing the war that supposedly took place. If I remember right the Lake of Rage was formed by rampaging gyarados, which was in turn sparked by some sort of conflict. A few of its dex entries specifically reference either war, being enraged by violence, or punishing humans. Its a wrath of nature sort of Pokemon.

I think why Irida and Adaman are so hard to pin down to just one decedents might be because they are clan leaders. Clans in a lot older times tended to be mostly a bunch of family members. Irida and Adaman are just the head of their clans but that isnt to say they didnt have siblings that branched off so maybe they are direct descendants of anybody that we know of.

10:19 If you were to put Iscan and Palina together you could end up getting the Normal Trial Master for Sun and Moon Illima. He looks like has Iscan in bits of the face and Palina's hair color. Also, it would make sense that the descendant of two wardens would be the Guardian of the totem Alolan Raticate or Gumshoos

Wouldn't Marlon make more sense? His naturally lighter skin can be explained by Palina while his ability to get a good tan is explained by Iscan. Marlon is derived from a type of fish and Iscan while plant based is one letter off Piscan which means "of fish". Basculin a Gen 5 pokemon that has a hisuian form that evolves into Basculegion the pokemon Iscan is warden of. Also fun fact, Marlon has a Jellicent as part of his team and Basculegions forms while derived from the earlier Basculin forms are gender based just like the frillish line which is shares the typing of with the noble being male Palina and Marlon both are heavily associated with swimming what with the goggles around their neck. Just a few things.

I've always seen Iscan as an ancestor for Wake, they are both related to water and are quite similar for what regard body size. Also,they are somewhat similar because they are bald and while one has is tameless and brave, the other is calm and wimp. Maybe their relation is not straightforward because Wake has a mask

6:08 I feel like another option for Calabas decendent could be the poni island kahuna, hapu. Calaba is shorter in stature much like hapu, those this could be argued that it’s because she’s old. Another thing though is that detail of her having black hair when she was younger that looked about the same color as that of hapus. Best evidence is that she is the warden of ursaluna, who gives you the ground type plate and is part ground type. Hapu is the keeper of the groundium z and has a bored looking ground type as her ace Pokémon.

The impatient attitude, blond hair, brown eyes, the fact that Barry went as far as Snowpoint City (possibly the Pearl Clan's old community, btw) and didn't wear a coat and how closely tied to the Legendary Pokemon like all of them are? I only see May in Irida. Besides for the hair and eyes, there is also the very funny idea that Irida's ancestor moves to the warmest area in all of "Japan" after living happily in the coldest. Irida's comments about how she is sweating while standing around in nearly nothing near the Pearl camp while May lives in Hoenn is just too perfect.

If you pick Brendan, he's moving from Johto with his mom and Gym Leader dad to a town with the Professor and his daughter May. I theorize on Calaba being an ancestor to Mallow (the grass type trial trainer from Alola). Mainly because they both have similar skin complexions and they have around the same hair color, green ish. Also in naming, Calaba means “tree” and Mallow means a “herbacious plant” so that’s another similarity in terms of plant life.

There's a train station in Kalos you meet the professor at, and he says he caught the train there to travel to Sinnoh when he studied under Professor Rowan. That was probably during the time Rowan as first in Sinnoh, as at the start of the gen 4 games it's mentioned that he's recently returned there after a long time away.

Okay just hear me out. Adaman and Irida both have a Gen 4 eeveelution. Irida prefers far colder places, like Shinnoh, so is not likely to leave. Places descendants in in modern day shinnoh. Irida’s dirty blonde hair could be lightened to pure blonde if mixed with Adaman’s yellow streak. Adaman is shown to be impatient and hate wasting time. Irida and the Pearl clan appear to value both having space and a lack of it. Irida is also at times rather childish. So… I can easily think of one particular blonde childish impatient kid with a lack of personal space living in the cold land of Shinnoh, can’t you?

Regarding Melli, I am convinced that his decedent is meant to be Clair. Unfortunately the Pokémon don’t match up, but the hair color, the personality, that his necklace all match up. I think his necklace is that small detail of his that feel like it should be important. And with Adaman and Irida, I’m pretty sure it is said that their grandparents were the ones who started the clans, or at least that is hinted at in their post game fights when they give you the crystals. So it would make sense for them to also be the ancestors to Archie and Maxie.

I can say there is one character who would be the perfect, Descendant of meli. If we just look at games, the connections are scarce. The anime on the other hand, had a excellent match and that's in Harley, May's rival. While the pokemon are different the core of their personality. The fact they took one look at a main character and decided they were a problem. That flair for dramatics and the ahole attitude it's all there. Hell their hair is also similar in style it just makes so much sense.

How is May not an option for Palina? She's a lot closer than Irida. But that's honestly just because of the bandana. Also Brendan has darker skin Oras too. Who knows, since Birch and Norman's kid changes depending on the player character, Palina and Ishca's descendants can either be May or Brendan. Brendan and May also have water and land themed names in the default name options for their games. The demo Brendan for ORAS is even called orLANDo.

I think that Melli might have a small possibility of being both related to Avery Klara from Pokemon Sword and Shield's Isle of Amor DLC. Both Melli and Klara specialize in Poison type Pokemon. All three have important titles/roles in their games. (Melli being a warden and Avery becoming a Psychic type Gymleader as well as Klara becoming a Poison type Gymleader from the minor division) All three dress in a fancy/cutesy clothing with Melli having a long beanie hat and necklace which could be fancy and having flowers on his pants and beanie as well as a heart like pattern on his beanie which could be seen as cute. Melli and Avery both have long hair and long hats. All three have stuck up or bad attitudes which would change in front of their superior(s). (Melli changing in front of Adaman and Klara and Avery changing in front of Mustard and kind've with Honey) While Melli has purple eyes, Klara and Avery have blue eyes which through the generations could of changed to blue if one or more ancestors after Melli had blue eyes. And to fit with Avery's family being great Psychics we could say that during the way two of the ancestors split up into different families with one specializing with Psychic type Pokemon and the other family specializing in Poison type Pokemon kind've like Agatha and Bertha.

I've always seen adaman as Sycamore and irida as may, mostly because the back of the hair matches mays. I've also looked at some more, "obscure pokemon" and noticed dexio and sina. Sina kind of resembles adaman with the hair, and then dexio having the blond hair with the highlights like irida. They also have eeveelution aces, like dexio and sina.

He has a hair style that looks like a weed of grass is sticking out and she carries a backpack with a leaf that sticks out above her hair. With Melli as the ancestor for Lucian, all of the Sinnoh E4 members are accounted for which feels appropriate.

My favorite theory is that Adaman and Irida are actually representations of Barry but split into two, not necessarily his ancestors. Adaman's impatience was an obvious parallel to Barry, whereas Irida isn't that obvious, but I think she represents Barry's desire to gain experience and grow stronger. Also, if not these two, there are no other character in the game that comes close to resembling Barry, which is weird considering how the rival, one of the most traditionally important character is not being represented.

I really don't believe that theory. Too much of the dialogue from Cogita and Volo's own comments about Giratina show the contrary. More likely (especially because I believe that he was projecting his own issues onto Giratina), Volo was abandoned young, Cogita in some form took him under his wing - like a distant relative turned mentor - who clearly is annoyed with his seemingly lackadaisical attitude towards work. In short, he's undeniably descended from the Celestica, but the idea that he's a time traveler just comes off as a stretch too far.

I have a potentially weird theory (more like hypothesis, but still) If Palina and Iscan are meant to be references to ORAS Archie and Maxie, and the scrolls are very clearly meant to reference original Archie and Maxie, What if the individuals in those scrolls are actually meant to be the original Archie and Maxie through time travel, haven lost their memories like Ingo, they don't try to flood or burn the world, but still have that rivalry, thus forming the Diamond and Pearl clan. Then, eventually, Palina and Iscan eventually get together, eventually leading to ORAS Archie and Maxie. Basically, the idea is that by original Archie and Maxie getting sent to the past and forming the Diamond and Pearl clans, it caused a butterfly effect, which eventually causes the events of ORAS instead of the original games. I've yet to play Legends yet, so maybe there's something in the game that disproves this, but still thought I'd share it.

Thoughts: -Since that picture of young Calaba seems to have dark skin and green hair, my thoughts are that she's related to Hau, because of potential connection with Lilligant, or potentially Sawyer(anime), who also has a natural sleepy-eyed look as Calaba. -Describing Melli as "a tad arrogant." Really? A tad? I think you're making a molehill out of a mountain, here. -Unrelated, but can you explain your shirt's design? I recognize Arceus' symbol in the center, but that's it.

The designs are the Lake Trio's tails, symbols for the Creation Trio (top is Griseous Orb for Giratina, left is the Adamant Orb for Dialga, and right is the ring shape on Palkia's arms). The outer rings are the Plates.

@@Zenithal1843 it's also the design that appears in the heart gold and soul silver event where you bring a certain arceus to the ruins of alph. You meet Cynthia there where she takes you to somewhere in Sinnoh. There a cutscene happens and you can get a lv 1 palkia or dialka or giratina.

Tuli, the Gingko guild member, I'm pretty sure she's Caitlyn from the Sinnoh Battle Frontier/Unovan Elite Four. She has sleepy eyes and is blonde, the other two members of the Gingko guild are designed after blonde Sinnoh characters, so I think it adds up. Also one of the generic Galaxy Team member designs heavily resembles Jupiter.

@@matthewdykeman8149 It's not a re-used model tho...literally only 1 is used in the village. & it makes sense that Tuli's descendant is Caitlyn when you think about it...Darach's ancestor literally stands right across from Tuli (considering that both Darach & Caitlyn have history together, it's kinda poetic in a way).

9:50 Personally, I think cilan and his brothers actually ARE the shadow triad. When the 7 sages and the gym leaders line up at the end of the game in bw, they're the only ones missing from that. A few minutes later the shadow triad appear
