@@queenxx1690 you forget, Jaehaerys told him it was time to leave he didn't go on his own. Whether he wanted to or not is not really known only that he may have smiled at the idea. No doubt he learned some humility in the process which is what the second batch of kids sorely lacked.
Chris, can you just **imagine** what Westeros could have been like if more of Jaehaerys's children were given Dragons? Imagine Daenaerys survived the Shivers; she could have married Aemon. Imagine Daella given an egg in her cradle, bonding with one from birth, and not being so afraid. Imagine Vaegon leaving King's Landing as soon as his Dragon could carry him. Saera. With a Dragon.
I think the decision to not make every Targaryen become a dragon rider was a wise one. Especially when you look at how king Viserys' free reign policy went just a generation later.
Thanks! The art actually comes from Riotarttherite, Paparinka Art, Magali Villeneuve, and Fkaluis. You should check them out! Links in the description.
I love you Targaryen Kings series and would love to see you do more videos on different events that happen throughout the ASOIAF history as well as more video on characters. Big fan keep up the excellent work!!!
Imagine show with all Alysanne and Jaehaerys kids how would they manage to fit them all into story when they struggle with Dance with dragons characters introduction they would need 20 episodes to introduce all properly
not dance era period but i always wonder what happened to all the different targaryen lines that survived the spring sickness too :o another great video, chris !!!
Vaegon could definitely show up. Saera, less likely so. Though with Laenor faking his death, Saera might be the person he'd go to for a couch to crash on. Alternately, we could see Seara's sons (or daughters) as background or minor characters - perhaps associates of Daemons?
Why would Laenor seek out Saera? She fled Westeros decades before Laenor was even born, Rhaenys herself was only 11 when Saera dipped. Laenor has no connection or relationship with her whatsoever, he never knew her and they're not that closely related.
Minor correction: Viserys did not let Laenor claim a dragon. Laenor already claimed Sea Smoke years before the council of 101, where he had as good a claim to succeed Jaehaerys as Viserys did
I don't think we'll see either of these Targaryens in HOD. However, Varys' origin story in Lys, shaved head, and violet eyes in the book has always made me wonder if Saera is his ancestor (grandma or great grandma).
13 kids… and like 4 grandkids? 2 of which married each other (Viserys and Aemma) and how we got Rhaenyra. One (Daemon) who then married Rhaenyra, as well as the only living offspring of the 4th (Rhaenys though Laena). Besides Saera’s illegitimate kids.
@@raemonmedina7870 Gotta give Septon Barth his due credit, lots of shit Jaeherys accomplished during his reign his low-born hand of the king was a big part of.
That's because he should've been a better father, especially to his daughters. Part of his failure was because of the culture he lived in (I mean, the double-standard of slutshaming Saera when Daemon and Viserys f*cked their way through flea bottom, for example), but still!
This is the video I was waiting for there are tons of them even in dany times there has to be lots of targ descendants thriving. House Baratheon is a targ family
15:37 The changes that the series has made to the timelines have meant that the second season is set in the year 132 a.C., so Vaegon would be 69 yo and Saera would be 65 yo. 15:36 TEN YEAAARS!!! 👁️👄👁️
Saera’s been out there getting packed by peasants and Dothraki by choice lmao…the shame that single character brought onto the last Valyrian Dragonriding bloodline in the world is honestly ridiculous. This may be an unpopular opinion (idk) but I was 100% on Jaehaerys’ side the entire time when it came to Saera, a Valyrian princess acting like an actual back alley prosty in her fathers (the literal King) own castle.
Imagine siding with Jaehaerys when Saera turning out that way was in no small part to his completely hands off parenting and letting her get away with anything she wanted her entire life. Like imagine slut shaming and piling condemnation onto a teenage girl who literally was raised to have zero regard for rules or behaviour because her parents never once enforced any rules on her until it suddenly looked bad on them (but all the years when it was a problem for others it was totally fine).
@@jazzycat8917 Imagine siding with a little princess who’s polishing the pole of every knight who shows her attention and getting a train run on her…Jaehaerys was even willing to forgive her and she tried to sneak out to the Dragonpit at night to claim a dragon so she could keep on doing it even after she was caught, while her father was putting himself in mortal danger to defend her non existent honour. Just look at all his other children, how she turned out was not his fault. She knew what she was doing was wrong the entire time and even forced her little friends into doing it with her…Saera was a spoiled little Targaryen Cersei Lannister and she was for the Flea Bottom streets.
Or maybe it was because of her mother's lenience on her punishments stop looking at the father a the sole problem many factors are included when dealing with Seara@@jazzycat8917
Both parties were kinda in the wrong. Saera should’ve been on thot time but Jaehaerys could’ve made more time for her. She was just a classic mommy and daddy issues type case
Probably some of the dragon seeds were Saera's grandsons (Hugh Hammer and/or Ulf the White). At least i like to think they are. Cause otherwise it would mean Jaehaerys, Aenys or Viserys (or Aemon and Baelon) were unfaithful and that seems unlikely due to their love and devotion to their wifes.
Spoiler Warning: My theory is that Nettles the dragon seed who claims the dragon sheepstealer was fathered by one of Saeras sons? Nettles parentage is sort of unknown?
I have a pet theory that Lysandro and Drazenko Rogare are 2 of her sons from her time in Lys and that Lysandro may've been 1 of the 3 who made a claim to the Throne at the Great Council.
In what part? The opening collage? That was only Targaryens, and Aemma is an Arryn. A queen’s last name doesn’t change when she marries the king; you have to be born into the royal family to bear the royal name. Just like Cersei is still Cersei Lannister, not Cersei Baratheon.
There must be many more Targaryen bastards still around during the GOT era, Jon Snow seems to be the only one left from the royal line, but what about Aemond's descendants by his son with Alys Rivers, I mean that story was written for a reason. Well, If the spin-offs are successful, I bet we'll get more shows about surviving dragon riders, not necessarily Targaryens and other dragons besides Drogon roaming the skies for decades to come, GRRMs universe is so vast after all.
From the recent episode ,I think saera is the one getting explained by hugh hammer as his mother. Since his mother is a targaryen who left the kingdom and went to become a prostitute 😕
Actually i don't think jeaharys so much as limited how many of his kids had dragons but more like most of his kids didn't want one , most of old Jay's kids were girly girls who hated violence and were varu timid snd submissive for the most part which isn't the recipe for dragon riders plus most of his kids died young so theres also that , all of visarys extended family had dragons but of infighting and for legitimaticy purposes so i don't think there really comparable.
Vaegon was very much voluntarily celibate. When it was said the ladies of the court would be flitting around Vaegon like butterflies, Good Queen Alysanne herself said Vaegon would be more likely to squash the butterflies with a book.
You understand that 'incel' is short for 'involuntarily celibate' and Vaegon was the exact opposite of that. They even joked in the book that he MIGHT be interested in a woman if she was in book form (or something close to that). He was NOT an incel. Jaehaerys WAS misogynistic along with 99% of the lords though, so that part is definitely true.
vaegon definitely could get some but didn’t want to, and he didn’t entertain incest like the rest of his family so that’s a good thing lol. he was probably asexual, gay (maybe) or simply liked books more than people (like some genius such as newton did). he was a voluntary celibate, not an incel.
I don't see the issue. He's connected to Laena on the left and Rhaenyra in the middle. He married and had children with both. On the level above, further to the right, he's connected to Rhea Royce.
