Spring is the best time to catch big bass! Fish are moving shallow to feed and spawn and they're easy to catch. That is, if you know where to look and what lures to use. You can catch the biggest bass of your life RIGHT NOW and we're showing you how to do it!
Consistency in Spring is all about understanding bass behavior. Fish are motivated by the spawn and will do whatever it takes to reach they areas they like to spawn in. Weather will impact how quickly they move and water temperature and clarity will impact what you fish with. Once you have the basics, its really easy! The key to success on any day is to keep moving!
Below you'll find links to the exact baits that Matt uses throughout the Spring. He's included his favorite sizes and colors for each category, along with a few budget friendly combos to throw these lures. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Thank you, Matt; these "seasonal" videos have to be difficult given the geographic diversity of your audience, but I think you did a great job of explaining how to formulate a plan whenever spring actually arrives in your area. My part of Florida was spared any prolonged "cold" spells this year, and fishing has been quite good for me as a result. There's only so much water I can cover from the bank, so it's mainly been soft plastics (sticks and tricks have been very good) and jigs. Hoping that spring arrives soon for everyone, and good luck out there!

Hey Matt and Tim! Always look forward to a new video throughout the week from you guys! I really want to get into crankbait fishing in ponds and I got a lot of super shallow 0-3 ft squarebills. The bottom of most places I fish are usually all mud or slime with some rocks. I keep getting hung up and end up losing so many baits which is normal I guess for bank anglers but I want to build confidence in them. What types of retrieves or modifications do you recommend? Thanks!

I live in California in the PNW on the coast about an hour and a half below the Oregon border. We have this freshwater lagoon in this series of lagoons, that is the only lagoon out of the 3 that is freshwater and not brackish because it never breaches with the ocean like the other two do, even though it is literally 50 yards away, like the 101 is down to two lanes at this point, and the lagoon is on one side, the ocean on the other. All that to say there are bass in it, the one place close to bass fish, other nearest is 3 HR drive away. The lagoon cooler most of the year, as the temperature outside never goes higher that 80, and it's windy, and there is just a little bit of grass and a little bit of toolies here and there, basically no structure, as the bottom just goes down like a bowl. I cannot find the fish anywhere. The are trout in the lagoon and very few blue gill, and catfish in this lagoon, and that is all as far as food that I know of, maybe crawfish. Tried jigs, cranks, lipless, square bills, spinners, chatter baits, senko, jerks, literally everything, shallow and deep, no luck so all. Water can't be any higher than 58-60 degrees. It's actually pretty pressured, as again it's the only water with bass in it for a good distance. It's called freshwater lagoon. Any help would be very appreciated

Speaking on a lipless bite. When I lived in Indiana, we'd go out this time of year and absolutely burn a Rattle-Trap. Back when I was there, the ice stayed in for much longer than it does now. A few weeks after ice out, it was the deal. I'm sure it still works to this day. Those fish get shallow on sunny days taking advantage of the warmth of the sun hitting a dark bottom. We'd catch em from 2-4 ft deep with the Rattle-Traps. I'm sure there are much better lipless options to use for that now, but if all else fails that RT gets bit up north this time of spring.

So I also watched Tim's video on spring bass locations and now have a few questions about Richland creek dayton tn. I hear you both talk about points and lowlands and different terms. So what is richland creek and how do I decide what I'm in as far as a lowlands or a delta. Next question is does fishing in these different types of areas affect where they decide to stop or hang around I looked at a topographical map like Tim said and marked a few places I believe would be spots to try but dont know if I fully understand all the points and secondary points would love any help or advice that you could give on Richland creek area thanks again for the help you guys put out here.

Where are they on Chick right now? I've tried them suspending, lay downs, back of slues, I'm kayak fishing out of a Titan12. 3 evenings a week???? Just need to find em, seems like they're gone?

I’m a beginner bass fisherman. I had a bass at the bank just kinda swimming around and he would sometimes reveal himself. I threw everything I had passed him (senko, swimbait, crankbait) and reel toward him but nothing. Any advice?

Does fishing during spawning on a small city lake hurt the bass population?

For me reading natural lakes are much easier to read and learn where fish will be than deep man made lakes in spring.

Just for clarification on the Antidote, you prefer the slow sink and not the super slow sink? Or did you mean the super slow sink?

I personally prefer the slow rather than the super slow.

When you say the fish move up into the shallow water, how shallow are we talking about? 1-3ft, 3-5ft, how shallow is shallow?
