How could you use this info for a fair area to go and use a metal detector? Obviously looking for stuff close to the surface.. already know about rye patch, but how do you know where would be a good area to go?
@ProspectorJess
@ProspectorJess 5 лет назад
In these maps you are initially interested in how many are surface or placer deposits. Later you should consider lode or underground then look at downhill downstream regions with your metal detector. Areas just below the hill at the alluvial fan point will often be best. I make and analyze these gold maps using the procedure described in this report: Sourdoughminer.com/GGM/ check it out

I live in VC, NV. It's all deep, it's all hard rock mining. My 3 inch dredge or panning finds little color, but go into the "closed off hard rock mines", it's there you wish you were younger...

In 2015, Nevada produced 73% of the total gold produced in the United States. Unfortunately most of that gold is Carlin style - micron. I live in and grew up in Vegas (which is not overrated - Reno people just love to hate Vegas) I go out into the desert to look for gold at old mines and use these maps too. I think those mines come up on the map because gold is usually secondary, if not primarily on many, many old mines out there - and there’s a million old mines out there too. Whole bunch of old Uranium mines out there to in Southern Nevada - thank you for your vids

Hello I have a question about gold for in Minnesota. I heard that Minnesota had gold , but was called "FOOS GOLD " Is this gold real or does it have a value. Like the TV show Little House on Prairie. Where Laura Ingalls took all that gold to the bank But they were told it wasn’t worth anything. So is Foose gold have value?

Your basin and range is exactly backwards. Nevada is being stretched apart. I'd show you where the extension faults are-but they're plainly marked so you shouldn't have any trouble finding them--if you were to look. Hint: Look for the gold mines!

It is a absolutely legal. In fact if you are not a member of any organization (GPAA or LDMA) you’re better off looking for gold on public land without getting hassled about being on someone’s claim.

Question: I live in Las Vegas, I would like to buy a metal detector and look for some gold for fun. How am I able to know where I am legally allowed to metal detect? I see people on youtube metal detecting, but I don't want to get in any trouble. Please, with your expertise, would you be able to shed some light on this topic?

I use gold maps online . They will send you a download that you drop and drag over google earth and drop it on which ever state you buy .Yes you have to buy them per state . I have NV, AZ and Cali , They are like 17.98 each but well worth it .They tell you where every gold mining claim is in that state .Whether it is an active claim or non active claim. Both lode and placer . The non active claims are the claims that have been closed and you can dig there . Really great help . Hope that helps you .

Is gold found in veins with cinnabar? How rare is this type of find? Did old miners hide there gold veins from government by claiming cinnabar mines yet were digging gold and smelting in Canada or Mexico How often has gold and uranium Ben found in vein side by side?

Dear Mr Jess. I enjoy your videos and have learned a good but from you but every once and a while you geologic history is flat wrong. Example on the baison and range they are the result of crystal extension. Resulting in normal faults is they slope toward the Groban or down droped block. And the deeper they go the flatter they get. In the idaho one you had the Hotspot moving east when infant its the north American plate is moving west. The pacific plate is moving north west and subducting under Alaska and Japan. One other note I have liked the term Isenberg for the horsts of the great baison. German for island mountians. Some are bounded on one side usually the west by a fault the block of rock may then tilt to the east and the lower part buryed by sediments filling the Groban. The Wasatch fault is west and thus the east side dips gently just as the serria nevada have the fault on the east side and dip west to the central valley at an adverage of 2 foot per mile. One last note there was a down warp weakness going east and west through the uinta mountians and through western Utah. The ocean may not have been hugely deep but as sediment collected it sank attracting more sediments till iirc over 30,000 feet had colected. Latter magma exploited the weak spot in the crust and injected granite forcing up the sedimentary layers that have eroaded away so that driving north from vernal the higher you climb the older the rocks are as the magma cooled hot mineralized waters flowed through the limestone layers depositing gold at park city and copper at Bingham canyon. These lackolithic mountians were originally described by Gilbert when he surveyed the henry mountians [ bromide baison on top of st mary?] ThaT you talked about. These blister mountians may or not have broken through to the surface or not but the material there today definitely cooled underground. Other blister mountians in the area include the abajo the la sal , Navajo mountian and also I think the sanjuans in Colorado. Best wishes to you. Thankyou for your vids

It is not uncommon to find gold associated with cinnabar which is mercury ore, and mercury is found in hot springs deposits as is gold. And please learn how to pronounce Nevada, we nevadans can get very irritated when foreigners such as yourself mispronounce Nevada. Also you might want to bone up on your geology and mineralogy if you're going to make youtube presentations such as this.
