Ed Reed has to realize that the formula that Miami had in the 80's and 90's is gone. UM was unique in that the local stars decided to get together on their own to build a powerhouse in their own backyard. It really wasn't the case of genius recruiting on the part of the school or its coaches. Those players owned it all; both the risks, and the rewards. How can you cultivate that sort of thing again?

Senior leadership is everything. Freshmen need to show up and have the fear of god in them when entering the locker room. I'm not talking hazing, but just being intimidated by the greatness of the upperclassmen. It's healthy for the young guys to see what greatness looks like. Looking for day 1 playing time is a huge mistake. If a freshman beats you out as a senior, that's a problem too.

I remember being on campus to buy a dozen tickets for my coworkers and their kids because of my passion for this team back in the early 2000s,This was for a game against Pitt Panthers and the great Larry Fitzgerald. I even saw Jon VIlma as a young kid walking on campus at that time and sending him prayers for the game and beyond. I missed that because people cared back then...I have lost that enthusiasm because the school administration has lost theirs for the past 20 years. The parents of current kids on the team get mad at the fans but they don't understand, it not the kids its the leaders, because we have live through the standards of greatness for this program. The results of mediocrity every year will wear the best of us down, we should at least challenge for the Coastal Conference every year.

Where did they go wrong? When they moved out of the Orange Bowl and then gave the city the permission to demolish it. That's where.

Miami has had a few bright spots in 20 years but there needs to be significant focus on football. Senior leadership is lacking. Maybe king being hurt limits that leadership on the field. But this team needs outspoken leaders who lead by example first. Miami also needs the recruits to be in there with a leader mentality. Sorry to say but I've seen players on this team that have no business being at Miami. Their lack of ability, size, speed, is not what Miami should be putting on the field. Our line backers alone are horrendous. Who are they? I'd like to see tyrique be more a leader too. Recruit players who lead by example first.

Bear is disingenuous or he' doesn't have a clue. Typically I like Bear, but giving credit to Manny for making changes is grossly misguided. Manny made changes due to injuries and the outside pressures from Kirk. He has been playing guys that have no business starting over talented young guys and making excuses for starting them. He made changes to the defense from last year and they are worse than they were the year before with Manny running the defense. This year has been the worst tackling team in the country, but you want to give him credit for making changes on the defense... Really? You've out recruited every team in the ACC for the last 5 years other than Clemson and we're losing to likes of VA, GT, Duke, etc... in previous years. He's done less with more and deserves to be handed a pink slip.

Butch Davis left for the Cleveland Brown coaching job after 2000, Larry Corker won games and a title with the talent Davis recruited.Butch was a Jimmy Johnson protege he coached like jimmy, speed and defense and good on special teams. larry, randy,al,mark, and manny just was not able out recruit the top SEC schools since Butch Davis left the school. Jimmy Johnson is not walking through that door( sorry) hurricane and cowboys fans. LET SEE what the future holds go CANES just win in the ACC.

I was looking at the past HC's tenors and records for Miami and it wouldn't be unprecedented for Diaz to be fired. So, I don't know why the prospect is upsetting some. 🤷‍♂️

@@phuckyu3383 I was going back and forth with it. His decisions on utilizing all his talent and managing a game just made me say let’s move on. He don’t trust half his talent enough for me.
