This song is the first single of the second album "Backstreet's Back". Back in those days there was a strong prejudice towards bands like Backstreet Boys, they said they wouldn't last beyond the first album, they had 10.✌😁 #ktbspa
Fun fact: the group members paid most of the production costs of the video themselves, since their record label didn't think it was worth spending so much on a video - it was a whopping 1 million dollars!!! The group even had to sue the record company to get their money back after the song became a huge success. I'm gonna go ahead and say the 330 million views on youtube are enough to prove the people at their record company were clueless! :) Amazing song, amazing video!
@@JayveeTV it’s not just diversity, you really love the music. Music is more than background noise to my generation. We lived our lives to it. Seeing you, so young, enjoy it... makes this old lady smile.
The Backstreet Boys are very much around today. They released their last album in 2019, and a couple of singles from it charted worldwide. They still have a huge following around the world.
The bus driver is Antoinio Fargas, he played huggy bear in the original Starsky and Hutch tv show and he was in “I’m gonna get you sucka”. A great actor!
The golden age of US boy bands. Between the Backstreets Boys and N'Sync, there were many hits. Definitely not my preferred genre but I respect the numbers. These were super popular.
Hugely successful groups in Ireland and the U.K. too, such as Boyzone, Westlife, Steps, Atomic Kitten, Blue and Take That! Not my preferred genre either, but some of the songs were super catchy/guilty pleasures.
1998. Took my daughters to see Backstreet Boys. I’ve seen a few concerts but they were by far the most entertaining! I was amazed! They did a great job on “Everybody”. Very talented.
This version missed the best part of the song though: So everybody, everywhere don't be afraid, don't have no fair i'm gonna tell the world, make you understand As long as there is music, we'll be coming back again
@@marklouis1890 They actually did break it up, but then they brought it back after some years. Edit: yeah, Idk why sometimes I try to give someone some facts when I am clearly incorrect. My bad bro
They didn’t really break up. Boy bands just stopped being popular. Like most child stars they.... Nick had addiction and serious family issues, AJ has (and still struggles) with addiction, as well as Brian. Then they started fighting. Nick was frustrated by Brian, whose addiction tampered with his ability to hit those notes. I don’t recall issues with Howie and Kevin other than their impatience. During the difficult time, Kevin (the oldest) did some solo work and spent more time with his wife and kids. He did leave. When things started working out again, he was back. There was actually a documentary done. Was quite raw, honest and a little sad.
It's the Backstreet Boys' best song in my opinion! Now that you're into the 90s boyband rabbit hole a bit, you should react to a british band called Take That - "Back for Good" is their biggest hit probably.
@@pereiraplaza222 that doesn't make them racist. Lou Pearlman put multiple boybands together including Backstreet Boys. There's a documentary about it on RU-vid.
@@pereiraplaza222 lmao, BSB and NSYNC were the white equivalent of New Edition, Boyz II Men & BBD. Also, BSB wasn't all white. You have Howie who is Puerto Rican as well as AJ who is also Puerto Rican & Cuban.
Even as a goth skater punk metalhead I love this song and video especially because of the horror movie aspect of the video with one being a werewolf,a mummy,a vampire,Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and the Phantom of the Opera since I’m a big horror fiend
They didnt make their songs ;-; If you wanna credit someone it should probably be Max martin. Even backstreet boys said he basically made them cause of the songs he wrote for them and other influental artists of that time. Not discrediting their talent but you made it seem like they have anything to do with the song writing XD
@@9529jake most of the songs are written by them or had collaboration, especially in their In a world like this album where almost all of the song in the album are written by them and some instruments were played by them. Yeah, huge credit to Max Martin, Dennis Pop etc of course. They always say in the interview their huge thanks to these song writers and producers, but they also make their song, try to search for it. :)
@@buffysummers5080 Actually that wasn’t my decision. From what I remember, this was their first single off their second album, which is why they're "back". The album was out near Halloween, hence the style of the video. And I could have sworn the set was straight out of the movie Casper.
BSB released their international debut album in 1996. Backstreet's Back was the first single of the second international album which came in the following year so they weren't away for long. 12 songs from those records (not including this) were released on the US debut album, in 1997 as well. They had gone to Germany to get traction from Europe since they weren't doing the kind of music that was popular in America at the time. Maybe they were thinking this as their comeback song when they returned to US but it didn't make sense to include it on the American version of the album since rare people knew them there.
Actually they got popular in the US because of "quit playing games" and everyone thought they would be one hit wonders so "Everybody" was a song that kinda meant to prove people wrong.
I'm both young and old enough to know the Backstreet Boys and also Antonio Fargas from Starsky & Hutch as the bus driver lol. It wasn't much of a comeback song, but it kinda was, this is part of their second album which ended up being even more successful than their debut. These guys are more than a boy band tho, they're actually an awesome vocal group.
They did not go anywhere. It's only because it was the lead single from their second international album "Backstreet's Back", which was released in 1997 - only one year after their international debut in 1996. But the song title didn't make much sense for the USA, because their first international album "Backstreet Boys" was only released in Europe and some other parts of the world, but not in the USA. The first US album by the Backstreet Boys (which is also called "Backstreet Boys" like their international debut, but it had a totally different tracklist, which was a mixture of their two international albums) was released the same day as their second international album "Backstreet's Back"
Wow. Can’t believe it was that long ago this song came out! I remember that I was working for a big retailer at the time and I was sent to their live show to get a sense of what the kids in the audience were wearing. There were some perks to no social media. Now the person who has my old job doesn’t get to go to a popular show on the company dime, in stead they just get to scroll and scroll and scroll...
Backstreet Boys are just the BEST‼️❤️🔥 Larger than life, Incomplete, Drowning, More Than That, I'll never Break your heart, 10,000 promises, Quit playing games with my heart, Never Gone. I can keep going. All their song are Amazing‼️
Still huge!!! They had a two nights sold out here in Brazil (55.000 ppl per night) ... We're still waiting for the gigs after covid shit. Met them in 2015 here in my hometown. Best ppl EVER. We get drunk together BTW 🤘🏻
I remember waiting for the world premiere of this video on television with my VHS tape ready to hit record and I was just so excited and hyped😍😍😍 I was 13 back then and at the peak of my BSB-mania🤣 I loved these guys so very much and, even though now I've grown up and listen to many other music styles and bands, the BSB will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm so happy they're still around, they tour and can still pull amazing live shows. I'm so proud of them❤️
Not my usual type of music in general, but they had some massively CONTAGIOUS groove going on. Every time their songs played on the radio, everyone in the car would start singing and moving.
I found out from an American friend that the Backstreet Boys didn’t have a hit until this song. Songs front their first album were only hits in Europe and that shocked me
Not quite true- perhaps even weirder. They didn’t release their first album in the US. It was international only. The first US album was released at the same time as their second international album and contains a mix of songs from both albums.
Same with Canada! They’re first album was released in Canada, so I didn’t realize they didn’t release it in the States. When I first heard the American version of “Backstreetboys” I was so confused😂
This song came out around the height of their popularity. This is even before"I want it that way" they didnt go away. Popular music just changed to something new.
It was them announcing to their fans that they were back in the US after their European tour. Not sure why they did a horror movie theme, but this is their costumes. Brian - Werewolf | Kevin - Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde | Howie D - Vampire | AJ - Phantom of the Opera | Nick - Mummy
Also, the era is “song stories” in the 80s and 90s was awesome. Miss them a lot. Also recommended is “The Call” about a guy cheating on his girlfriend.
“Where did they go?” Lol They were a group since the early 90’s, but never really popped until the mid-late 90’s. This song was kind of an anthem to let people know that they were still going at it.
If we're going to talk about British boy bands, the obvious choice should be "Back for Good" by Take That. Would also love to see Jay react to the Robbie Williams video of "Rock DJ."
Backstreet Boys albums in order of release: 1. Backstreet Boys (1996) 2. Backstreet's Back (1997) 3. Millennium (1999) 4. Black and Blue (2000) 5. The Hits - Chapter One (2001) 6. Never Gone (2005) 7. Unbreakable (2007) 8. This Is Us (2009) 9. In a World Like This (2013) 10. DNA (2019)
Many of the group's hits are written by Swedish composers such as Max Martin, Andreas Carlsson, Rami Yacoub and Denniz Pop and were recorded on Cheiron. This song was written by Denniz PoP and Max Martin. Backstreet where in Sweden many times recording ☺️🤓
You should check out their video for "Larger than Life" to see how much money was spent on that. The top British boy band is Take That, who have been around about the same length of time. It might be interesting to compare the two of them
Little do people know the backstreet boys won some kind of singing contest. But their first CD sold better overseas. So they did a one or two-year world tour. When they come back to the US this is the album they come back with an ultimately what made them as popular as they are.
It was some sort of comeback song: they weren’t big in the USA, but did well in Germany and then in other European countries (possibly in Australia as well). They made this song and it issued this song in the USA as well and it became a massive hit.
I used to have a VHS which showed the making of this video, if i recall correctly, they were on a budget, shot it in three days somehow. One of them had this random idea to play monsters in their next video, so Brian ended up as a low budget werewolf, howie as dracula, AJ as the phantom of the opera ,Kevin as Doctor Jekyll/Mr Hyde and Nick as a mummy. Still one of their best videos to this day
This is by far my favorite BSB song. I remember if you bought the CD single it came with this video as a CD ROM. I watched it so many times. What a time to be alive.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Jay - your title!!!! "where did they go?" I honestly hope you feel the love we all have for you here because your integrity and truth shines soooo bright! You always make me smile just by being you - please don't ever change! (although if you did - i think i would still have so much love for ya haha) Much love from the land of tea and crumpets! (England)
You made a comment about one particular member having a voice, that’s Brian. I love all of them but his voice was my favorite! Unfortunately, he has a condition now that’s affecting his vocal chords. He still sounds good but he’s not doing as much of the lead vocals like he used to. Thanks for doing these BSB reactions! They’re still awesome. Hopefully, they’ll be back in Vegas for another residency when things open back up again.
Ok ... this always reminded me of Michael Jackson’s Thriller with Ratt’s Round and Round dinner table. The dancing and imagery was really similar. But this wasn’t a comeback... it was we’re here and we are gonna rock you again. We can sing, we are sexy, we rock your body! And my compliments to Kevin Richardson. Yum! Am I the only one who recognized Huggy Bear?
The one you said can really sing (Brian) has actually been dealing with vocal chord problems for a few years now. He developed vocal tension dyphonia and dystonia, and though he has been working had with a therapist for a while now and is making great improvement, his voice just isn't where it used to be and may never be again. It's sad, but impresive how hard he works at it.
Fav video of them!! Man nostalgia! They were the first band I ever saw live in concert. I was like six or something and my mom took me with a girl from our neighbourhood and her mom, she was a bit older, like 10 or 12. It was awesome, I'll never forget it😊
The best of the 90s boy bands.... and still going strong after ore than 25 years! Other big hits from late 90s (with great video clips) include: I Want it That Way As Long as You Love Me Larger Than Life Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely The One ... and some of their more recent stuff is even better... Drowning Incomplete Inconsolable Straight Through My Heart Show ‘em What You’re Made of
This actually wasn't a comeback song it was made at the height of their popularity. And they're still together and had a Grammy nomination last year. I worked at camp a few years ago with some people that are just graduated from high school and this was their jam which surprised me because it is an older song.
Fun fact the ballroom they dance in is the same one as the iconic scene in Casper. Look if AJ asked me “can I keep you?” He literally could say less they answer is always yes.
There was a song the BSB did with Shania Twain called "From This Moment" (which is her song) but they joined her as a (Live From Winter Break Special). I thought everyone did an awesome job if you get a chance to watch it, I think it's definitely worth it!
This song was EVERYWHERE you couldn’t escape it. So even if you thought you didn’t like it, you did. A fun song and a jam to dance to. Correct me if I am wrong, but is that the set of the live action Casper movie?? My daughter loves BSB and NYSNC. I couldn’t not hear it. It was like “play it again mommy!” BSB are a solid band great singers and dancers. The same could be said about NYSNC. Love your smile because that tells me you really like it. Keep up the great work. Your channel is one of the best. You are always ready to dive right in and we love you for it! Thank you Jay! ❤️
This was their tribute to “Triller” by MJ I think honestly. Since they were the biggest pop group of all time it was a way of paying homage to the King of Pop lol just my opinion, not a fact
...they never left. They released a recent hit album in 2019...and was still making music and touring and doing fan cruises every year..you just haven't been paying attention.
This track is from their second album so they're simply saying they are back... Backstreets back. Jayvee, please more Backstreet. They have some good pop songs. Thank you!
