Exploring abandoned places is my hobby and finance it all out of my own pocket and the donations I get from the people who love watching the documentaries we make... A small donation would be greatly appreciated! ► / brosofdecay
Life is a constant battle to create order in a world of disorder, humans are continually at war with every might force we call Mother Nature. The manor we are going to explore today has lost this battle after its caretakers lost their interest and rose to heaven. Once inhabited by a wealthy French family, consisting of a loving couple with 3 children, the place has been in the family for over 2 centuries and has been transferred from father to son. The family had their roots deeply strangled in the politics of the local Municipality. Their influence was felt throughout the region and many stories circulated around the town that the family was involved in corruption and bribery. Stories are just stories until they are proven, today I will take you inside of their abandoned Mansion and we will try to uncover the events that led up to its abandonment.
Are you ready for an intriguing adventure?

The ground floor bedroom leading in to the smoking room would’ve been for the teacher / school mistress / nanny. The children would’ve come down for their lessons and she could access the study via her bedroom. This is why that small child’s bed was in the study/smoking room/classroom 💛 Additionally the “kitchen” was put in in about 1979-1985 when this family manor was converted to a “Summer/Vacation House”. What you said was the “garage” and “utility room” was actually the laundry room and the “utility room” was the original kitchen, hence the stairway in there. The servants prepared food, bed pans and bed water in there to take up to the bedrooms and it’s inhabitants. I’d love to see this all restored to its original glory

So very sad that these vintage items and beautiful furniture are left to deteriorate 😞this is an antique store vendor’s dream. I wish there would be some type of estate sale instead of letting things rot away 😢

I am an antique dealer for many years , most of the furniture and Artworks featured in this videos are not thought after in todays market , leave alone the condition there are in , but the biggest problem ... there is no road to go to these places so things remain there like corpses to decade dont be sorry these are just things the valuable items are gone long time ago .

It's so nice to see a house that hasn't been destroyed by decay, vandals or thieves. The plant at 40:46 is holly. You're right the kitchen is just weird and way, way too small for a house of that size.

The wall coverings in that house, apart from the one in the hall, looked like fabric rather than paper. To replace it, would cost an awful lot of money. That silver oil lamp on the mantel piece was one of the nicest I’ve seen in a while. It needs a chimney and a lovely etched glass, cranberry coloured, tulip shaped shade and it would look fantastic. The lamp at the bottom of the hall stairs is from a horse drawn cart or coach. Love the carved benches from the year 1619 wow! This has been one of the most interesting explorations in a while.

Absolutely one of your very best exploring making a home video showing what it was like from yesterdays house. As noted by another there was not an indoor bathroom so this is really a home from long ago. The copper item hanging in the beginning of the hall way and the smaller one in the bedroom was for fresh water and was filled by the staff so the people could get a glass of clean drinking water probably from their well. No running water until much later in the history of the home. That room above the old kitchen area was the cooks / servants room with a tiny fireplace. The attic was absolutely a work of art, one could turn that into an apartment to die for in our time. The ceiling wood work would be almost impossible to build today. Just a real walk through in time. My compliments for sharing this with the people in the world that really want and do share you dreams of saving homes of yesterday in video format before they are forever gone.

My Grandparents on my father's side traveled to Europe many times and I now own some of their antiques, but never have I seen such rare furniture and glass as I see in your videos, and my mother and her mother were also antique dealers, and my father was president of the antique bottle collectors in the U S, so when I say rare things, you know they are rare. I am coming to France soon where I look to find some of the vintage art and glass from there. I'm addicted now so keep them coming please.

I'm a newbie on your channel and I love this video, you speak so eloquently and show each piece of history. Most youtube explorers flit thru the rooms and don't look at the historical side. I watch several and you are the best at actually slowing down and showing us the history. Do you have any idea of when this was abandoned, year wise? Someone has to be paying taxes on it. There is a fortune in artifacts there, I pray they can be preserved.

Heyy Lesley, After a breathtakingly beautifully formulated introduction, we get to see again the noble count Lesley! - How lovely, you really are looking so unbelievably handsome in that historical looking attire! - Even from the outside this French manoir is really impressive. - Of course it's such a pity, that such a wonderful location is just left forgotton and abandoned to slowly decay. Thank you so much, dear bro, for sharing this truly amazing location with us viewers. - I agree, that is really quite a surprisingly big greenhouse. - This basket, where you thought, it could be a picknick basket, is probably an old fashioned hat box. The bedroom on the hallway-level has a beautiful design with the antique furniture, the upright piano and that special vanity and is looking very museal. - This blue bottle for carbonated water is called syphon. I especially loved the wardrobe and the bed with the very decorative brass decorations. The upholstered armchair is an incredibly beautiful example for a pure art deco piece of furniture, probably produced between the 1920-1930-ies. - Wow, and that living room, a time capsule from a period a long time ago! Incredible to see and still so incredibly untouched and filled with precious antique furniture and other smaller antique items! I was nearly speechless when watching, because everything is so beautiful! - Even the attic had a lot of interesting items to see. A small correction: You showed a wonderful photoframe with many photos of the former family in different places. - In one of these photos they are visible in a tower of the city of Chicago, not New York, because I could identify the black tower, also visible on the photo, as the so called "Hancock Tower". I know this building very well, because I was once there. Thank you so much, my friend, for taking us on this memorable tour through that wonderful mansion full of antique treasures! There you really found an Urbex gem, which is probably rare and a unique example of its own, as I presume. Wishing you all the best, many hugs and still a wonderful continuation of your grand trip together with Maureno and now even with Danny! Stay safe, my bro, and take care! - Blessings, peace and kindest regards.

Well, I backtracked and looked again...then watched the whole thing a second time, because I could only see one bedroom... with a single bed! I thought maybe I missed something while I was in the kitchen. But no... It seems they left with only one bedroom downstairs...and only the unfinished attic upstairs! Seems very peculiar! It is a magnificent place, with beautiful furnishings. But the one bedroom for a family with 3 children...of course they all grew up and perhaps are not even alive...but it's perplexing. Any information about that would be welcome. Great job Lesley...as usual!! 😁

So many things going to waist in these homes. Lesley so many of these thing are works of art . They must not end up in ruin. You need to find out how you can help save these things from ending up this way. You do such a great job showing all of us these great homes. You have to help saving these thing. I wish I could help you to find some one to talk to about saving some of the furniture you come across. I dont know how but I love antique furniture and these thing are way to nice to end this way. Please see what you can do about this. Stay safe and I will keep watching. Thank you and your crue you all do such amayzing work. You should have a TV show. Your all that good.

It is such a shame to see all of the beautiful hand-done needlepoint on this furniture destined to be destroyed. How sad. I know how much work it took to do these. I wish they could be rescued, along with all of the other beautiful artifacts.

This was a fabulous video. I am a new subscriber and I am currently going through old videos. I have loved every minute of it. I just finished the video from Portugal, where the guy built a Disney house for his daughters. That was a spectacular video. Probably my favourite to date. Keep it up I am excited to continue this journey. Love from Canada.
