Of course both this and the original Jeff the Killer image originate from Japan. They always be pumping out the most terrifying shit. And the worse part? Both of these images end with us not even knowing their origin, so the mystery only amplifies the creepiness.

There are only four images that i remember seeing as a kid that still terrify me and send shivers through me. This one, the Russian sleep experiment thing, the one with a thing looking like a little boy in a striped shirt with huge, creepy eyes and terrifying smile (it's a black and white picture) and something that looks like an old family picture but with a weird, big thing looking kinda like a human body upside down hanging from a ceiling. There were probably more of those pictures that genuinly terrified me but those lingered with me the most.

It's completely natural that sometimes objects from the Internet would have strange origins, but we don't really think about that in the abstract. These actual digital artifacts illustrate the strangeness of the Internet to us in a new way.

Normally when i just see this image for a few seconds, i just find the image kind of stupid, like a dumb jumpscare. But the longer i look at it, it gets more and more unsettling and honestly terrifying. Really interesting.

I got jumpscared when I saw that picture while scrolling through my recommended, and also whenever it came up on screen lmao. I wasn't always scared of the picture, but I remember that one time, my sister was presenting a presentation she made on the TV, and then she caught me off guard and jumpscared me with this picture, and that's my first memory of the picture spooking the living daylight out of me.

I remember when I was a teen, I looked up Make her Cute in Japanese because it was a "Don't look this up" thing, and being really disturbed by that image for a bit. But then I read the thread and it stopped being scary

i used to be obsessed with creepypastas back in 2010-2013. it amazes me to say that i was only 3-5 at the time. i dont remember much, i just remember being facinated around these "scary" things like creepypastas and cursed images.

When I first saw this image years ago, it actually made me jump internally and externally. Strangely enough I became numb to the fear this image struck, as well as most of other creepy things of this nature. To say the least, nightmares upon those who view without warning. I first saw the image from a video that had these characters looking for the perfect hot dog ingredients and there was a character that looked like Little Red Riding Hood and she said "Don't patronize me, you fetus sh*t." and had that face under the hood, and so, naturally I looked into it.

This image trigger an instant fight or flight response, the fear is deeply rooted and almost primal. It looks human but it's all wrong.

I remember watching a video on youtube that was one of the best jumpscare screamers I've ever seen (third only to that Where's Waldo jumpscare, and the What's Wrong with this Picture jumpscare). It pretended to be a documentary, something about women or dolls or something, but had a shitty AI robot voice telling the story. It outright showed this face through slow pans to build tension. Eventually in the middle of the video (so you couldn't skim through to find the jumpscare), it said something like "And she was never heard from again." followed by this image jumping forward jittering around the screen with a loud yell. Crazy thing it, it then continued the rest of the video as if it weren't there. Shitty production quality? Absolutely. We're talking 12 year old using mom's computer-quality. BUT the execution and creativity of the scream was just impeccable. I wish I could remember the name of the video. It's been ages.

2:49, I think that this actually fits well because if you look carefully you’ll realize that whoever made this used it and blured the background a bit and put that face on it. And the image, if you look closely it’s edited, like the right eye, the tip of the right of right eye looks’s cut a little and the top left edge of the forehead is sticking out.

I didn't know what that image was, but it was my RU-vid profile pic for 6 years from 2012-2018 (when I replaced it with a portaloo selfie on the set of GoT). Thanks to this picture I had some kind of persecutory paranoia and I'm not joking. I saw this image when I was little with a text like "don't look behind you". I was terrified for several days and since then I always had the impression that I had something behind me, that something was watching me and I had to confirm that was not the case by looking behind me every few minutes when the night fells. Since I have moved, for some reason I feel safer and don't feel the need to look behind my back. Today I am 18, almost 19, and despite not believing in that kind of thing I spent many years of my life stressed about having something behind me. To this day the image doesn't cause me the dread I felt, but I don't really feel comfortable looking at it.

Suddenly the haha voices from Gurgles and Bugman started to play. you got creeped so you turned the volume off, ITS STILL PLAYING OH GOD F__K NO. You feel something beside you. . .ITS BUGMAN. You got shocked and saw Gurgles opened your door ( in a huggy wuggy style since his tall. ) the giggles got louder, and louder, And LOUDER. Giving you panic attacks. Something for most of the youtubers investigating old images on the internet used for creepy purposes: If you can't find a definitive answer on it's source find someone who knows Japanese and start digging through 2ch and niconico. Most early 4chan memes that didn't originate on 4chan or SA found their origins on 2ch or one if its predecessors.

That's gonna be interesting! For some reason this image always disturbed me on some deep level. At this point I'm just pretty desensitized to warped faces and gore and such, but this thing has something about it that makes me shudder to this day. I once had a fucked up nightmare where the Moon had this face and it was basically the end of the world scenario. Maybe I'm traumatized after this.
