I get my music from the DJ Pools. I work with the DJ pools to promote the music so that the artists make money and get noticed. I don't really use third party sites, all the music is already on pools. Sometimes people send music they made that is similar to stuff I play. I try to play it if it has some energy to it. Most of the time- when you have a brand new track that no one has even heard yet- it doesn't always get the best response on the dancefloor. People like familiarity. For those, I try to "pillow" it in between well know tracks, so at least it has a chance.

Thanks for this video, I just purchased some tracks that I fell in love with while curating music to use for my first attempt at breaking into a big city that has many locations that offer music I love. I'm hoping to make an open decks night where they have cdj 3000 plus a high end mixer to match. I'm nervous but it's a dream.

Thank You for this info, Andrew. I am going to take a look now. Hopefully they will have some decent Progressive House. The amount of Record Pools i have joined & then sacked off because the Progressive tunes are either very limited, or very commercial. I could do with a change from Beatport (not that there is anything wrong with Beatport) but i am always on the lookout for others. I''ll let you know what i think. All the best from the UK. 😁

Yes, absolutely this. I haven't been back to my last record pool in a year because of its lack of support for things like progressive house and melodic house and techno. I'm always looking to expand my horizons beyond Beatport, though that's often a challenve for me.

Making sure the mp3 files are almost the same volume I use lame to decode the file to wav, then normalize using peak, then re-encode. This for me is the best so far.

@@jeremyc1034 Well i get some songs are really out of whack but they sound really decent in clarity to the ear. Instead of using these gain programs u get for windows i just use the old school tools for Lame, so i just decode mp3 to wav and then normalize the wav after which i re-encode to mp3 again. I would probably or possible lose some quality there BUT i dont really hear it, so for me and the bars i play at, it seems to be good. As long as u are not distorting or clipping the volume because thats just ridiculous. When listening too the mp3s on headphones on the pc or using the speakers i have like logitec or Altec Lansing , it seems good.

Not free, but record pools are a good place to start. Tons of tracks and edits. Definitely worth the monthly cost.
