Join ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti for a guided tour of the International Space Station’s crew quarters - the bedroom.
After a day’s work running experiments and maintaining the weightless research centre astronauts can retreat to their private quarters that is no larger than a changing room. In this small space they can store personal items, use a laptop for internet and float to sleep in their sleeping bag.
Find out more about Samantha’s Futura mission here: www.esa.int/futura

It is in these kind of videos where I think about how much the human species has evolved throughout the years.

We've come so far, yet if you look at the world in 2019 we're still just fucking up the planet by driving cars and planes, polluting and killing. Last year 3 million species of birds just vanished.. dead, never coming back, all because of our stupidity as a specie. Over half the people on the planet think gods are real or that "you can change gender", science doesn't really matter any more, it seems, and that's very sad.

Puro over the years the human race and the world was getting improved and worsening. The idea of renewable energy is at least getting around some countries and switching to alternative resources. In the future, the technology shall improve to the point of being able to reverse the damage of the world. Just imagine what the future would look like in just 1000 years.

***** I'm curious, how are your dreams affected in microgravity? Do you dream of doing more "floating around" when you are dreaming of places other than the ISS? Do you ever dream of gravity on the ISS? I also wonder what impact your stay on the ISS will have on your dreams once you return to earth. I wish you a safe journey home!

Question: do astronauts snore in space? Or does the muscle relaxation due to microgravity makes it harder to snore? because those "doors" don't look much sound-proof, and the crew quarters are like 1 meter from each other...
@mizzdeester3958
@mizzdeester3958 7 лет назад
Rogério Penna probably because all the fluids puff up the face and nasal passages and they have trouble clearing their sinuses which also affects astronauts sense of smell, so I would imagine that would contribute to snoring in some of them

a side effect of micro gravity: it releases your backbone, especially those intervertebral discs, from the usual pressure. you may know already you are usually a bit larger in the morning, in space it is a permanent effect. no aching vertebrae and floating while sleeping: you would sleep like a baby :D
