This was really helpful and informative for me because I'm typically a Manga reader and I just recently started to become interested in American comics. I'm now subscribed to you for sure.
@@giuseppepapaleo3030 I feel you bro, it's crazy. Just three omnibuses are worth more than the minimum wage in my country (Colombia). Let that sink in...
Great video! I'm with you. The OG 90's Venom is without a doubt my favorite! I love the artwork during that time and the stories were just so much fun. He had so many fantastic crossovers too. One of my all-time favorites that I'd sit and read over and over again was The Spirits of Venom mini series. Man that cover with him holding Ghost Rider's head wrapped up in his own chains was crazy. There were some fun stories with him after the 90's, but it wasn't until Cates' run that I'd say lived up to the origin days. The Venom and Absolute Carnage runs by Cates are a must have of any symbiote fan. Best modern era symbiote story for sure. It gets a bit too convoluted with the side stories that mostly seem to serve as a way to make more money, but the Miles Morales off shoot was a win.
Man, what I like about this channel is the constant quality of your videos. You know what you're talking about and it's appreciated a lot. There. I said it.
Great info! I was collecting comics during the 80s. Seeing this makes me want an Omnibus for Spectacular Spider-Man and for Web of Spider-Man. I miss those comics.
I'm halfway through Birth of Venom and I really like it, easy read and I'm really impressed on the quality of the images compared to the old newspaper style paper ones I used to read in the late 60's early 70's...I'd appreciate any suggestions on which TPB to get next....stay minty!
Awesome! This is the kind of info that really helps people like me who got into the game late with comics. What online vendors would you recommend for the Omni books? There's no local Comic shop nearby, and Not sure what book stores might have them locally either.
I started with Remender's run and continued into Cullen Bunn. Then I skipped everything until Donny Cates run. Might need to backtrack and scoop a couple trades. Thanks for the tip bro!
This was definitely very helpful for me! I now plan to get the first TPB with Venom, the first TPB with Carnage, and then Venom Vol. 4 by Donny Cates. If I end up liking it all enough, I may get the Venomnibuses in the future. :)
In the middle of my chronological Venom readings. I am currently on his first Thunderbolts run as Mac Gargan. But can't wait for the Absolute Carnage trades to come out next year!
Great video! I love, and have the Spider-Man vs. Venom omnibus. 90's Spidey, Venom, and Carnage is where it's at! I'm currently on the Donny Cates run, but I'll pick up Remender's run some other time. I'm more about Eddie and Venom, than Flash and Venom.
Love the 90s stuff like you man...have all the omnibuses but unfortunately have a manufacturing problem with my spiderman vs venom where my spine folds upward into my eye. Cant do anything to fix it and know the more I read it that it's just going to get worse. Thanks for the video though had no idea about the space knight thing. I'm big into the cosmic stuff and will have to check that out now.
Love this idea for a video. Would love to see more like this for different people because I’m more of a DC guy so I never know where to jump into marvel comics
Gem you need to grab the Venom Daniel Way Ultimate Collection! Besides lethal protector and Venoms first appearances ever, this is what i grew up on as a kid. I never hear you talk about Daniel Way.
@@GemMintCollectibles I'd recommend checking out his other two collected editions as well. I just finished his complete edition of ghost rider and loved it. Still need to check out his Wolverine but I'm sure it's great.
Thanks for the video man, I have lost track of all the modern iterations of venom and was looking for a good guide. Allready own the first 2 classic 90s omnibus as well as so, so many of the roiginals old comics... need some new material
Wow! Just what I was looking for on my absolute favorite comic character growing up, and now looking to jump back in a bit. Thanks, great job. Where would you recommend buying these? I have quite a few original single issues in perfect shape from lethal protector on. What’s your thoughts?
The biggest problem with comics isn’t only knowing where to start It’s also finding a place that sells comics, I don’t have a local comics store where I live and when I searched for Spider vs venom omnibus on Amazon it says it’s 120$ and also out of stock I don’t know if 120$ is normal since I’m new to this world but even if it was I can’t buy it since it’s out of stock
I was worried about that Costa run not being the greatest. I remember seeing the marvel preview books and seeing all those books being solicited for a year and it just didn’t really catch me and I couldn’t get into the art. I might skip it then, thanks Gem 💎
Should I get Maximum Carnage paperback instead of Carnage Classic? Paperbacks that I plan to get are: Birth of Venom Maximum Carnage Lethal Protector Venom Epic Collection: Symbiosis
That first omnibus spiderman vs venom omnibus volume 1 is been difficult to buy because no store has it and when I find it, sellers are asking way over my price range.. but its a must have.. just have to be patient and wait for the moment when it's lower price. Question is when? Lol..
Gem I have the venom vol 1 and the reprints off Todd McFarlane and also the David Michelinie omnibus does it double dip the Spider-Man vs venom omnibus or should I still get it 😊👍👍
It is crazy some the ones shown go for 1000 dollars now a days lol if i can choose to buy a car or buy a book i usually stop my self from getting it lol
I really want to start reading venom but as someone who lives in the UK, I can’t get ahold of the Spider-Man Vs Venom Omnibus, only the Birth of Venom. Unfortunately that’s missing a huge chunk compared to Spider-Man vs Venom. Any suggestions?
Hey Gem! I just starting reading Cates' Venom, and I was wondering what you would suggest for a reading order. I'm 6 issues through right now. I tried searching for it, but I haven't had much luck.
