I mix Ballistol Universal with water at a 1 part oil/5 parts water analogy. It provides a finer sharper edge on my knives and saves the stones from wearing out fast. It mixes with water in a second and becomes white as milk! It's easy to apply, just drop one drop of Ballistol and 5 drops of water on the stone and mix them with your finger. It only takes 1 or 2 seconds, to mix it! It's great for maintaining axes too! For guns, I would choose their more specilized Ballistol oils, instead of the Universal. They also make a specilized honing oil, for sharpening knives, but the Universal Ballistol, also works fine!!
My dad worked as a technician and had his personal workshop in our basement. Every time I open my bottle of Ballistol nowadays, to use it for whatever purpose, I smell on it, close my eyes and then I am in my old man's workshop again for a few moments in my mind. RIP Papa. ; _ ;
Me too! Also a drop in the potentiometers cleans and lubes them as well. No more crackling in the amp's controls either. Of course, my weapons are also spotless too!
I love this stuff. I have a very large and expensive collection of historical firearms and this is what I use to preserve them. Twice a year I bring them all out of the safes and give them a Ballistol wipe down and haven't seen a speck of rust since. I did the same before with other gun oils (including Rem Oil and regular CLP as well as the special long-term CLP) and was still getting rust on some guns but ZERO once I started using Ballistol.
I used Ballistol for maintenance on my handpan (metal instrument). I read alot about special handpan oils but they were expensive and so hard to get. Then I found Ballistol. Since it’s not harmful for your skin it’s perfect. My handpan now looks like new again thanks to Ballistol! I will for sure buy this product again! Highly recommend!
I use this stuff for simple mechanical camera maintenance - not the best for the job, but good enough for a hobbyist to get an old escapement in a shutter system moving again :)
I first learned about this product at the Great Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania USA. OUTSTANDING firearm care product!! The only chemical I use on my rifles and pistols!!
Stephen Maurer Clean your battery terminals in your cars then coat with Ballistol. Never have corrosion again. You can just spray them clean with non clorinated brake cleaner if you don't want to remove the terminals. Make sure your car will not lose its radio programming if you disconnect your battery. You will need your radios code to make it work again.
Yes... I have used this product on battery terminals!! I have also used this on a nasty cut while in fishing camp up in Ontario. Ballistol works like Neosporin and helps cuts heal fast.
Stephen Maurer . I also rub the top of my cars serpentine belt to keep it in new conditon. Spray it on electrical wiring for protection. Look up one hundred ways to use Ballistol.
Any difference in the green can vs the white universal stuff? Or is it all the same? Looking to use this to my screwdrivers, pliers etc to clean the handles and the metal.
What more can you ask og 1 product? I got everything the sell and use only ballistol for my weapons and everything Else, got my silencer soaked in The cleaner as we speak. so simple and good!
Question: Ballistol is described as non-toxic, but is it food safe? I wanted to try removing rust on some cookware with it, but am unsure if it would linger and be unsafe. Also, is there a difference between the aerosol version and the liquid version besides a propellant? What is the propellant for the aerosol version?
Yes - it is food-safe, skin-compatible, entirely harmless and fully biodegradable. And also right is that the propellant is the only difference. Here you find, in addition, an overview from our website: ballistol.de/shop/en/products/all-things-mechanical/ballistol-multi-purpose-oil/
Since the German imperial era, the entire military has used Ballistol Universal Oil. In the 1980s, there was a change in the requirements for oils in military tenders. Since then, the "normal" military no longer uses Ballistol Universalöl, but special units or task forces still do. These can buy Ballistol Universal Oil - and other of our weapon care products - without a tender and still use it today.
@@Millie.1965 Wasn’t rude. They avoided the question. I assume because they don’t want to advertise a competitor. But see, I and Danny likely will not change CLPs. Ballistol is too good. But I was curious, too, what it was replaced with.
Can we say that it is both, as it contains both medically pure white oil and natural substances? 🙂 No, honestly: it's a mineral oil since it includes paraffinum liquidum. Nevertheless, it is biodegradable and skin-friendly and dermatologically tested ‘very good’.
@@supernova1976 ❓We are suprised. Please let us know where you found that since it is a secret formula. We are very interested in what is written there.
@@BALLISTOLKLEVER that’s awesome ! So do I assume it is to be used by the customer straight or full strength from the large gallon size container or is it formulated as concentrate to be diluted by customers before the apply it to there project piece
Is the American made version the exact same "recipe" as the German? I EPA/FDA rules don't allow the wide variety of uses German product laws allow so I was just curious.
Good question. But we assure you that the American cans have exactly the same recipe as the German and all other cans. The presentation and legal situation is visibly different, but there are no two different recipes.
@@BALLISTOLKLEVER With a knowledge that products for domestic markets are better i still've ordered ballistol products from germany instead of Poland :)
No, never. :-) If you're a fan of the liquid Universal Oil: Always kept clean the bottle will be useable still by your grandchildren. But then you have to be veeery thrifty with your Ballistol Universal Oil ...
@@BALLISTOLKLEVER Ah okay. I've had the samee squirt bottle of Ballistol for about 2 years, the 16 fl oz ones last a while, and i didn't know if maybe it had gone bad. Thank you. I'll be buying some more, But on my other question does over oiling machines like a rifle cause harm to the rifle? I was thinking of putting some ballistol under the muzzle break of my rifle, but since the barrel flexes and bends i'm not sure if that would cause minor but over time harmful pressure on the threads.
We understand your word muzzle break as a muzzle flash brake. Our recommendation ist to apply Ballistol GunCer grease to the thread of the muzzle flash brake and screw the brake on. We understand your described situation in such a way that the barrel expands due to temperature and therefore puts pressure on the thread because of the oil. However, this expansion is so small that no damage is caused to the gun. Basically our tip on the amount of product (for the Universal Oil and everything else) is: Apply as little as possible, but as much as necessary. PS: Note our informative Gun Care Guide: ballistol.de/shop/en/gun-care-guide
@@BALLISTOLKLEVER Light coating. Awesome, thank you all for the help, I will continue using Ballistol exclusively for my guns. I greatly appreciate all your help and advice.
